The only thing I read was the official Blender 2.3 Guide. Keep in mind this is old, and I was a n00bie! I suggest the newest book, The Blender Book, or the next book coming out for Blender 2.5. It's surprising how much you can do after reading the instruction Manual!

Well I don't use yafray. I never tried it actually....hmmm. anyways, the blender renderer is pretty powerful, so I just use that. Send me a message and tell me what you mean about slow, maybe I can give you some tips.

you are an amazing animator i mean the fight scene was incredible but the story line isn't that great. A guy named demonic wants to conquer a land called shevxen (which to me seems stupid as its filled with acid clouds and loads of monsters) and your the only one who can stop it because you find a massive pole...and i think this idea is similar to the silver surfer

It took me about 2 weeks to render everything. I wasn't rendering 24/7 though, only while I went to classes in high school.

Having done a lot of blender work I have to say that this is really good on a lot of levels but would have been greatly helped by some better textures. Normal textures would most likely be best. It would not take much more work to do this and you would get all the idiots off your back that say it looks 20 years old. Good work, keep at it. 3D movies take more skills in one person that any other art I can think of!

Hey man! wicked stuff! but how did you do those dirt effects..and some of the evil guys spells? i'd love to know. :-)

Sure! The dirt effects are particle emitters with cloude effects applied to them. I animated the alpha channel (At least I think I did, this was a long time ago!) So that the dirt would fade after a few seconds. For Demonic's lightning, I used spheres with a home brewed texture over them for most of the spells (using an emit value of around .5) in other cases they are green vector particles. There is a bit of post-processed glowing effects as well....Now you know!
