Pacquiao is the undisputed pound for pound king. This though is the fight (not DLH or Hatton) that will clarify just how good Manny is. The last 2 fights it has been as much Freddie Roach then Pacquiao winning them. DLH was a shell of his former self, and although I love Ricky he has obvious flaws.
Cotto is something altogether, he has a strong defense and a natural born fighter with great, solid technique. Roach is going to have to work a lot harder to find a plan to deal with Miguel.

WOW...I never realised Cotto's balance was so bad. He don't step with his punches, he not on the ball of his feet, he flat footed almost on the side of his foot. You train like you fight. Pacquiao is the undisputed pound for pound king. This though is the fight (not DLH or Hatton) that will clarify just how good Manny is. The last 2 fights it has been as much Freddie Roach then Pacquiao winning them. DLH was a shell of his former self, and although I love Ricky he has obvious flaws.
Cotto is something altogether, he has a strong defense and a natural born fighter with great, solid technique. Roach is going to have to work a lot harder to find a plan to deal with Miguel.

I think Cotto's defense is too neat and tidy, his chin to solid for Manny to realistically plan to KO him. Miguel can cut which might be something they will look into.
But can Manny deal with Cotto? Cotto and orthodox fighter, but his left is his stronger arm meaning deadly jabbing. Also there is the famous Cotto left to the body. Big difference between Hatton's and Cotto's work to the body is - Cotto doesn't work around the clinch like Hatton. He can deliver that left from the outside.

Much have been said about the weight. Pacquiao at 145 lbs and Cotto at 147 for a fight to happen. Its doable using Canada's adherence to a Weigh-in at the day of the Fight where fighters should weigh not more than Division weight few hours before the fight starts. For me, weighing in 9 hrs before fight time. That way, it is fair to both fighter in terms of weight. On Hatton-Pacquiao fight, both did not weigh the specified 140 lbs Jr WW but at 147/148 Super WW.

He had only been knocked down once prior to the Margarito fight and even with bricks in his gloves it took him 11 rounds to KO him and Cotto took a knee he wasn't stumbling around the ring like Judah or Vargas (after Trinidad) Since moving up to welterweight Cotto has proven that he has a decent (not great) chin.

Just to add to what GQ023 said, fighters need to make weight for fights and since approximately 66% of body weight is water, by wearing those jackets you sweat more and thus lose weight more quickly.

fighters dont run 6-10 all the time, maybe 10 once a week when they dont spar. usually they go 3-5 miles.
they never spar over 10. only once or twice they go 12 in training. sparring is for days where roadwork is considerably reduced
