Wow, I like the horizontal orientation, FWIW. Vertical would be fine too, but the switches would be pretty close together, though that's okay too Mainly I like how small the Arcane Preamp is, whatever its orientation. As to the sound, it's too hard to make a final judgement on YouTube. Seems pretty cool to me. The fuzz side might be a bit too compressed and ratty at high settings, but this thing might be awesome for whacking the front end of an overdriving amp.
Actually, after some experimentation, my ZVex Super Duper can also get a little ratty at high settings. In fact, I was able to cop some similar sounds in this vid with the Super Duper. Makes me wonder if we should think of the Arcane as a kind of boost as well as "fuzz," but a booster with an EQ, which is an excellent idea.
sounds good , I guess wmd does make some decent stuff, I thought they sucked after that demo of that yellow thing that sounded like dial up internet starting, I stand corrected nice sound
@seasonedtoker I have to agree with you on the issue of orientation, but I thought it sounded pretty dern good. I guess that's why there are so many options out there. Some of us are just geeks, heh.
that's the whole point of diversity. otherwise we would still play boss stomps and just bitch about them :)
just to sum it up, I have nothing against GMD (ppl learn how to read please), but this design is absolutely flawed to me, so I wouldn't pay a dime for it. there are better enclosure for double effects.
even GMD has some deep character in his design of luther drive and he does it for the hobby.
i love how you say something as if its objective while stating that its subjective.
if you dont like all these complicated pedals, why watch them on youtube? just take your fuzz face, strat, cry baby and play really bad stevie ray licks all day.
dunno what srv has to do with it nor GMD as I didn't mention none of them. not even a fuzz face. you should probably know that I play BPM's since you're such a regular GMD audience.
I have also built pedals myself for over a decade now and I know a thing or two. I hope you do it otherwise your opinion is just waste of my time. if you like to buy 150+ bucks stuff which has already been redesigned 100 times but didn't change since 1990, be my guest. I'd be glad laughing at you.
the fuzz side just sounds like a distortion idea that didnt go over well, so the just called it a "fuzz"...and the dynamics are bland...and its really expensive...it just depends on what youre looking for, it IS unique, and versitale, but it sounds like a shitty fuzz and a pretty good bootser...or you can just get two different pedals, a fuzz of your liking and any overdrive that isnt harsh or too distorted is good to me anways...but listen to a "trifecta fuzz" or any tubescreamer
ive never tried it, but i have a good ear for pedals, and how they "feel" by listening to em'...but its a matter of taste...i only buy high end fuzzes, amps, guitars, etc....but i use a danelectro fab overdrive, so its just whatever u like
not sure if you do requests, but there isnt much on the acoustic trauma... care to cater?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
first of all the flipped configuration of 125B enclosure is just lame. sorry for my opinion but it is. it's like stomping a fish can.
not good sounding either but in general I don't like WMD anyway. there's something geeky about them I don't understand.
I am more of a "gimme-a-wah-single-transistor-booster-and-tons-of-fuzz" guy ...

GMD deserves a better audience.

It's pretty cool because it can get some lower gain stuff and then some modern crazy higher gain stuff too.

@PlayaDontHate24
Tell me what's a good pedal then. Have you owned or tried one of these?
I'm thinking of getting one but if it's "shitty" then I want to know how.
