Time speed Calculation , motorcyclist was traveling at 52MPH. Much too fast to be able to slow down in time. Motorcyclist is partly to blame. Riding a motorcycle leaves no room for mistakes. You must always be ready to take evasive action. He never braked ! By the video time stamp camera it took the rider about 1 second to cover a distance of 80 feet. So do the math. Oh ! and the car driver turned too slow into the fuel station. It's just bad all around !

In the twenty-five years that I've been driving, I've noticed that motorcyclists, especially the ones driving the Japanese crotch-rockets, have little, if any, respect for the rules of the road. They drive their motorcycles at insane speeds, weave in and out of traffic like they're in the chase scene of a movie, drive on the shoulder, cut people off, and are just generally nuts. In this video, it looks to me like the motorcyclist was speeding, probably 20 MPH or more over the limit.

Um.. in this case the -bike- operator was going way too fast, -and- likely not paying attention. Notice the bike doesn't even slow down until impact! That means the bike rider didn't even -try- to stop!
So yes, the car shouldn't have turned so slowly. But the biker could have reduced the crash or even avoided it, had they slowed down an payed attention. Everyone needs to learn there!
The driver of the car is at fault since he/she was crossing a lane, however the biker speeding definitely contributed to the crash, or at least to the resulting damage to his body, bike and the car.
The car driver should have made sure the that the lane she was crossing was free of approaching traffic .
It was obvious that the car driver weren't even attempting to stop before turning, probably too busy looking at which pump to pull up to! Us motorbikers have to put up with stupid car drivers like that and they are saying motorbikes are dangerous!

Bottom line - the biker was in his own lane but the car was crossing over into the oncoming lane. Therefore, the car was obligated to make sure it was clear (which obviously it wasn't). Therefore the car is at fault, dumbasses.

sorry but you don't know what you're talking about. he had plenty of time to react, leading to my grave suspicion that he may have been either tired or possibly under the influence at the time of said accident. unfortunately you are correct, in that many do not know these safety maneuvers. sadly indeed, a few have never even heard of them. they are, however, a life saver, and they are currently being viewed as a possible learning requirement for licensing in my home province starting in 2011.

I'm a proffesional driver . Every day on Irish roads I see lots of careless drivers completely oblivious as to what is going on around them.
I'm planning to buy a motorbike myself but seriously I'm affraid that I'll get killed by some lady too busy talking on her mobile phone to pay attention to the road.
Drivers cant even notice my slow moving 20 tonne vehicle , how can they notice a motorbike ?
It's too easy to get a drivers licence in this country.

Before I started to drive, I didn't understand anything. But now I drive around with my mate (who rides a motorcycle) and I see loads of times, drivers just pulling out from side roads in front of my mate. I have to even beep the horn as well, numerous occasions. Car drivers are so fucking careless and inconciderate to motorcyclists. It's unbelievable.

In the twenty-five years that I've been driving, I've noticed that motorcyclists, especially the ones driving the Japanese crotch-rockets, have little, if any, respect for the rules of the road. They drive their motorcycles at insane speeds, weave in and out of traffic like they're in the chase scene of a movie, drive on the shoulder, cut people off, and are just generally nuts. In this video, it looks to me like the motorcyclist was speeding, probably 20 MPH or more over the limit.

The car probably didn't even know he was coming. Motorcycles are hard to see, especially for the elderly, and especially when they're coming in too fast.
And if a car is in front of you and you're in danger of hitting the back of the car if it slams on its brakes, then it's simple: you're following too closely, and you need to give yourself more room.
I don't think it's fair to say that it is incumbent on automobile drivers to accommodate motorcyclists' inherent tendency to ride like lunatics.

I ride a bicycle, and I almost get hit by a car every day, to drive completely defensively in town is most stressful. Trick to safety is to not become complacent, but it's also not pleasant. The car wasn't in the wrong lane.
It was turning into the gas station.
The biker was going too fast point blank period.
If he was following the speed laws of the road he would've had plenty of time to stop.
Im a trained CDL driver and we are trained to plan ahead.
When your speeding its much less time to adjust to things like that.
The biker is already aware of the risks and that there are not so aware drivers out there.
If he speeds anyway thats on him.

Bikes can brake very well as long as you pump them and not just sqeeze them.
That will cause you to slide out of control at high speeds.
That car driver didnt make any sudden moves but it was obvious they werent aware of the bike flying down the road but the biker did see the car and probably thought they were going straight.
Your acting as if bikers don't make bad judgements out on the road. No one is perfect .

Um.. in this case the -bike- operator was going way too fast, -and- likely not paying attention. Notice the bike doesn't even slow down until impact! That means the bike rider didn't even -try- to stop!
So yes, the car shouldn't have turned so slowly. But the biker could have reduced the crash or even avoided it, had they slowed down an payed attention. Everyone needs to learn there!

The driver of the car is at fault since he/she was crossing a lane, however the biker speeding definitely contributed to the crash, or at least to the resulting damage to his body, bike and the car.
The car driver should have made sure the that the lane she was crossing was free of approaching traffic .

Bottom line - the biker was in his own lane but the car was crossing over into the oncoming lane. Therefore, the car was obligated to make sure it was clear (which obviously it wasn't). Therefore the car is at fault, dumbasses.
