@FAJANGALANG According to John in the 1980 Playboy Interview, it was about him. John used to carry all the pills the band would take during the early days of touring.
They all talk about Sgt Pepper but for me as a 16 year old in 66, this was the LP that rang the changes. I'd put several of their LP's ahead of Sgt Pepper.
What John considered one of his "throw away songs". It would be interesting to know where he penned it. Kenwood? back of his Rolls? London nightclub? hotel suite?
I think that And Your Bird Can Sing, Taxman, and Dr. Robert are the best on Revolver. I like the Beatles with them and just their guitars. Cool riffs, solos. That's why I think Revolver is bad. They got all this creepy stuff now
Ive notice something great happening in Mexico a huge increase of Beatles fans. I was in The capital and i kid u not my cousin and his whole high school there love the beatles and there school is 4000 teens or so. great there music lives on everywhere
To those thinking that Dr.Robert got the beatles high, Your PARTLY right....
Actually it ws George's dentist who invited him, Pattie, John and Cynthia to a dinner part with a few other attendies. After dinner, The doctor passed out coffee, In wich he put suger cudes. Only after had everyone drank the coffee did he tell everyone that the suger cudes were lassied with a doce of the powerful drug, LSD. This is how George and John expericed LSD for the first time.
that's funny how the part "he's a man you must believe, Helping everyone in need" sounds like " Well, my heart went ''boom,'' When I crossed that room"
go to this website. These people are real and they use real techniques to show you he was replaced. Not to mention all of John and georges clues over all of the years.
Re: 'I buried Paul' - Actually, it was Ringo saying 'I'm very bored' at the end of the session...I know this because Richard Starky TOLD me in 1975 ( I grew up with him in West Derby, Liverpool in the late '50's )
@Rvalencia12 You know why they were genius? Paul Mccartney really died and they started making all their songs about his death. Doctor Robert is about the plastic surgeon who made the new guy you see today look like Paul. Favorite line "your a new and better man" plus FAUL screams the backup lyrics terribly. We all know the great Paul Mccartney does not sound like that.
@MrMGD92 then what is the song about? why did they stop singing strictly about love songs after Help? Why did they stop touring and become cartoons? WHats baby youre a rich man about if its not about Faul becoming paul. Why does John say i buried paul on strawberry fields? Why is Faul singled out on every album cover and every photo? Why does he scream lyrics on the white album? Why is his face falling apart if he didnt have plastic surgery? Get your facts then say something to me.
@childintime12 His face falling apart? I don,t know what the song is about maybe where they get the drugs from? John dosen,t say "I buried paul" he says cranberry sauce.I don,t know the reason paul is singnaled out.If he was replaced why did he go on to have such a sucsessfull solo carear?and become the most sucsessfull songwriter ever?you can,t just go and find another pm.
@MrMGD92 Successful doesnt mean good singer. It means people bought it. But he is not a good singer and dint write many good songs solo. Think to yourself. His songs suck after the beatles be serious. Cranberry sauce? Are you kidding me haha thats part of the cover story he clearly says I buried paul. Ive listened tons of times. Maybe i buried sauce but no cran or berry. haha. They wernt taking drugs quite yet when doc robert came out. All lyrics and song titles on revolver are about his death
@childintime12 He did write a couple but you have to remember that it was Lennon and Mccartney. They satarted drugs in 64 when bob dylan introduced it to them and beleave me it defanatly 1 billion % says CRANBERRY sauce. Also have you heard his dance stuff from the 90s? thats brilliant and not forgetting his brother Micheal I think his name is he would have told Linda or one of the family plus don,t you think they would have said something by now?

Let me get your email i will send you a 3 page paper i wrote on all paul is dead clues and you can review them yourself. No they wouldnt say anything. John was going to say something but he was shot before he could. George was going to and he was stabbed. Get it? you cant or you die.
@childintime12 Well I can,t think of any songs that relate to drugs before 67 I am anot giving my email adress out. Also why woulden,t they say anything?John being murdered had absaloutly NOTHING to do with this conspiricey he was killed by some crazed fan. Also George survived the stabbing and that had nothing to do with this either and what makes me ROFL is that supposed recording of Georges voice LOL have you heard it?he sounds like someone from north london lol. Also it DEFANTLY 1 BILLION says.
@MrMGD92 Ill never agree about cranberry sauce that is so stupid. my email is my name at yahoo. im not a spammer bro haha. I want people to know what happened and it is true that paul died. Paul is dead movie is not george but is almost alol true. That crazed fan was from Hawaii and flew in to New York on two different occasions. It is proven he is not insane. This is the perfect cover up to say he was crazed fan. It was long after beatlemania and who hates john? u cant prove faul didnt do it
@childintime12 Mark chapmen said himself he wanted the fame that killing John would bring him. Also whats this "if you say something you die" they were in a band not working for the C.I.A..I can prove PAUL had nothing to do with it if you wach the video "Paul Mccartneys reaction to John Lennons murder" look at his face you can tell hes in deep deep shock all the colour has gone from his face like hes seen a ghost. Also mark chapmen was a big beatles fan he got an autograph on that morning.
@MrMGD92 It isnt proven that Faul had to do with the murder but remember george was stabbed and that john and george spent their musical careers making clues about his death so its a weird coincidence. Your watching Pauls reaction years later when he prepped himself to cry and stuff. Watch his reaction the day after johns death and all he says is its a drag. He also changed his story several times of what he was doing when John died. thats something you dont forget.
@childintime12 No the video i,m talking about is the one you mentioned come on be srious here look at his face hes pale like all the life has been drained out of him and thats from shock.Hes trying to distract himself from whats happened by burying himself in work. What do you mean hes changed his story? Why would it be so bad if they said it was true? Also there is a picture of mark chapmen getting an autograph on that morning.Paul had nothing to do with it.
@MrMGD92 hes guilty. He had george stabbed too all to protect his dream world of being Paul. Look up the two italian EXPERTS that did analysis on his skull. They thought they would prove he didnt die in a few days but it ended up taking 3 months and they proved he died through voice and looks. Trust the experts not what the mainstream tells you is right. I am an expert ask me anything questionable and i have the answers
@childintime12 How did he die through voice and looks? What analysis?Surely there must be somebody related to william campbell who they can do a dna test on?
@MexicanChamp1000 You'll sell under-the-counter prescription drugs to the youth and drug dealers. :P I'm just kidding, but the song is about how John supplied the pills the Beatles took on tour. He held onto them, and when the other Beatles wanted some pills they apparently went to John for pills. So I guess the song is about how John felt about being a drug mule. So yeah.... Remember kids drugs give you bugs.
@il927 Remember that with John Lennon, everything was either a ruse, a trick, double meaning, or fabrication. He is quoted as saying it is in fact, about himself supplying uppers, yet, as you say, it is also about that dentist. John Lennon was adept at not letting the public really know the truth, so they could make their own interpretations, etc.
I had this tune on a British version of Revolver... I don't think it was on the North American version.
Even at 13 years old (in '70 when I heard it) me and my friends realized that this tune sucks! It really does, and should serve as encouragement for aspiring songwriters in that, hey, even the Beatles can suck - that's it's more important to develop your craft. It's probably the worst Beatles tune that I know of. They deserve to have a few :)
The Beatles is also the no. 1 in the Rolling stones top 100 artists! :) and they are the first and currently, last band who have five songs in top 5 on the american billboard.
Another Beatles' song that was greeted with a degree of infamy in conservative Great Britain - this song was apparently banned, yes, banned. Why? Because "Dr. Robert" was a "drug pusher" - go to see Dr. Robert any time of day or night and "Well, well, well. You're feeling fine. Well, well, well. He'll make you - Dr. Robert".
This album has some great guitar. This is one of the Beatles best songs. I like the fact that it is not an overplayed song. I really like 65 through 66 for the Beatles. We first started seeing [and hearing] changes in their style of music with the album Help. which had more introspective songs. Then Rubber Soul followed by Revolver. what a tremendously creative period.
This cut--as well as "I'm Only Sleeping" and "And Your Bird Can Sing"--were not on the American version of the LP when it was released in '66, but they were on the British version. When the album was released on CD, we finally got the complete version. I think those three songs make a difference on how you see the Beatles' musical progression toward "Sgt. Pepper's",
@Fitzmartel Yeah I never understood why they did that. Sgt. Peppers was the first album I think where both the British and American version were the same.
@farseer611 you fighting over the best of the Beatles discography and on which position the check "Rolling Stone" but did not even start talking about the song Dr Robert! not even qualify or say if they like the song, if it's bad .. According to interviews on Youtube, George Harrison states that the dentist did spike the drinks, but he was completely unaware of what effects LSD had and he meant no harm at all.
@TheVCCmetal u.k. and u.s beatles albums were slightly different.u.k. revolver had more songs on it than u.s revolver.yesterday and today, meet the beatles, beatles 2nd album.something new.the early beatles.beatles vi.beatles 65.were u.s titles only.please please me.with the beatles beatles for sale were u.k. titles only. i also think the u.k. version of rubber soul had more songs on it than the u.s version. long story short there was no yesterday and today album in the the u.k.
@BarringtonBleeder sorry, but it's about how easy it is (and how undesirable it is that everyone finds it so desirable) to get meds whether you're sick or just wanting a legal high. it's not a comment about socialized health care just because it mentions it. "if you're down he'll pick you up... take a drink from his special cup...." how is this a comment about socialized medicine? it's a comment about medicine itself.
@drdanr1 it's not on the american version of revolver released by capitol. this song, and your bird can sing, and i'm only sleeping were released on "yesterday and today" by capitol earlier the same year. so, they didn't appear on the american version. but they ARE on the original parlophone.
Haha well he wasn't their drug dealer but he helped turn them onto drugs,it's a song about a drug dealer and they used the name "Dr. Robert" as a joke about him
@YanksFan162 People always just assume every beatles song is about drubs, a few of them are but in truth there was only about 5 out of hundreds. Every beatles song has a deep meaning to it.
@utahzombiesurvival you're reading into it too much. the beatles were genius songwriters, but when they write a song about drugs, you have to take it at face value. trust me, socialized healthcare was not an issue plaguing society during the 60s, with vietnam, the hippy movement, riots, and other stuff taking place.
@dor1847 Yep man, well what can we do? this list was made by the rolling stone magazine, the ones who put "like a rolling stone" as the more important song of all times when it should be "Yesterday" or "Ticket to Ride" and the ones who put Aretha Franklin as the most important singer instead of John Lennon or Paul McCartney (By the way, WHO IS SHE?!?!?!).
@JJHidalgo1 as wonderful a song as yesterday and day tripperr are i have to disagree like a rolling stone was a song that described how an entire generation was feeling. the beatles music is amazing and legendary

thornhead1994 5 months ago
Another Beatles' song that was greeted with a degree of infamy in conservative Great Britain - this song was apparently banned, yes, banned. Why? Because "Dr. Robert" was a "drug pusher" - go to see Dr. Robert any time of day or night and "Well, well, well. You're feeling fine. Well, well, well. He'll make you - Dr. Robert".
hasablad69 5 months ago
This album has some great guitar. This is one of the Beatles best songs. I like the fact that it is not an overplayed song. I really like 65 through 66 for the Beatles. We first started seeing [and hearing] changes in their style of music with the album Help. which had more introspective songs. Then Rubber Soul followed by Revolver. what a tremendously creative period.
lob287 5 months ago
This cut--as well as "I'm Only Sleeping" and "And Your Bird Can Sing"--were not on the American version of the LP when it was released in '66, but they were on the British version. When the album was released on CD, we finally got the complete version. I think those three songs make a difference on how you see the Beatles' musical progression toward "Sgt. Pepper's",
Fitzmartel 5 months ago
@Fitzmartel Yeah I never understood why they did that. Sgt. Peppers was the first album I think where both the British and American version were the same.

According to interviews on Youtube, George Harrison states that the dentist did spike the drinks, but he was completely unaware of what effects LSD had and he meant no harm at all.

@YanksFan162 People always just assume every beatles song is about drubs, a few of them are but in truth there was only about 5 out of hundreds. Every beatles song has a deep meaning to it.
utahzombiesurvival 8 months ago
@utahzombiesurvival you're reading into it too much. the beatles were genius songwriters, but when they write a song about drugs, you have to take it at face value. trust me, socialized healthcare was not an issue plaguing society during the 60s, with vietnam, the hippy movement, riots, and other stuff taking place.

dor1847 4 months ago
@dor1847 Yep man, well what can we do? this list was made by the rolling stone magazine, the ones who put "like a rolling stone" as the more important song of all times when it should be "Yesterday" or "Ticket to Ride" and the ones who put Aretha Franklin as the most important singer instead of John Lennon or Paul McCartney (By the way, WHO IS SHE?!?!?!).
JJHidalgo1 4 months ago
@JJHidalgo1 as wonderful a song as yesterday and day tripperr are i have to disagree like a rolling stone was a song that described how an entire generation was feeling. the beatles music is amazing and legendary
