That tuning is interesting for a guitar. It's as if he split the guitar into 2 3 stringed secitons each in a different Mixolydian chord tuning. Pretty much if you bar the first 3 or last 3 stings which gets a pretty clean sounding chord compared to what most bar chords sound like . It's obvious that it is written across two different halves of the guitar as well because the first half is the first 3 strings in their mixolydian mode and most of the last is the back 3 strings in theirs

AEADAD(6th to1st)

This tuning is very low.

You should exchange the guitar string for a heavier thing like 052-011.

Well, this is just a guess, but Id say they use some sort of standard - theyre very partial to the pentatonic minor, and its hard to play that on anything but standard.
