I bought this video card for $62 on ebay auction and payed $13 for shipping and it cost me a tottal of $75. It is used but it works good and is in perfect condition. Then i payed another $60 for 650 watt corsair PSU for my graphics card. I saved so much money lol. So lucky. The only thing that hold my card back is my AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ at 2.6 GHz. And I am planning on buying Phenom II x4.
i think i have a problem my computer is overheatin allot so ther comes this sounds/beeping sounds then it says its overheating i cant play a good game whitout it making a sound i need help:S can someone help me???
@94svenni check your temps. Also, the beeping sounds is probably a code. If you find the book for your motherboard you can find what the code is saying. I use 'core temp' to see my cpu temps but you can also find them in the bios.
@snake10566 yea it was the temp i just yoused compressed air gun to clean all the dust inside my computer, the dust maked the cpu and all of the computer to overheat so thats why the veeping souunds where there to tell me that its overheating i think. thx for the information but you are a little late:P

I bought this in August 2008.. there was no cheaper equivalent ati card. The only one was the 4850 (at that time they were around $180), and that was slower, hotter, and had less features (physx, cuda, etc). Besides, this came with a rebate so it ended up being cheaper as well.
haha thats their top end card and it cost $100 to $150 dollars more than the 9800gtx+ if your comparing the best lets see how a 4890 does against a gtx285 2gb verison

I have an Asus 9800 gtx + " Dark Knight " TOP. This TOP means that it comes slightly overclocked from the factory. I think its specs are:
core: 775 mhz
memory: 2360 mhz
Shader : 1950 mhz
The good thing is that the max overclocking you can get is slightly higher thant the non - "TOP" edition, but no big deal really. A bit more of texture fillrate , a little bit of this and that. Bit my opinion is, despite this card is huge and barely fits in my case, it's performance is satisfactory.
I have this card. Its crazy good for the price. It runs all of my games (DMC4, Bioshock, UT3, etc) completely maxed out at 1280x1024. No artifacts, no problems whatsoever. In most games, you don't see pixels at all with 8q AA full screen. This is my favorite card by far.
What driver version you using? I used the stock drivers and the beta 185.68 and the beta works better. My 9600 GT on the stock - 750 Core 1800 shader (oced) and on a beta driver - 800 Core; 1900 shader which is incredible considering its only a driver update. lol dirvers DAMN YOU DRIVERS.
What i have is a XFX nVidia Ge-Force 9800GT with 512MB of DDR2 memory. What i would like to know is if i can link that card with a XFX nVidia Ge-Force 9800GTX+ with 1024MB of GDDR3 memory.
how to check the graphic card temp??? also do you have same problem as i have the screen suddenly freeze and all graphic is mess up and computer is not work???
Yes, I have a 700 W. power wupply, and the max temperature is 67º Celsius. I bought an Asus 9800 GTX+ BK for substitution while I get the new BFG RMA card, and it works great. The nvidia formum is full of comments from people having the same screen corruption, and BFG offered me the replacement of the card. But send it to BFG has a cost of 89, 65 €, and I payed about 180,00 € for the card. I believe it's not fair. Excuse my bad english.
hey can you help me with one thing? i am wondering if i get this card, will it work with my 400 w powersupply , i know it needs 450?? btw is it any different between a an BFG or an GIGABYTE??? looking forward to your answer.
I wouldn't try it if I were you with a 400w power supple. BFG, gigabyte, EVGA, XFX, etc are board partners that manufacture the cards, it doesn't really matter, decide on price and warranty
And? if you don't know the risks of overclocking then you shouldn't be doing it anyway. I don't see a reason to change the cooler, the reference one works very well.
i heard that there are a lot of problems with the BFG card... have you been experiencing any problems with it lately cuz im thinking of getting the card (considering that my local computer parts store only has the BFG model.)
Yes, the lifetime consists in a RMA replacement, but sending the card with UPS, costs 89,65 € that I must pay, plus buy another card (I work with my computer and can't be two or three weeks without it). Its not fair that the user pays the consequences of a bad design.
yes i did get one, weird that you didnt, where did you buy it from? if u can return it and get another one, could be someone returned it to the store or something and kept the wires
Best thing about BFG guys us that if you buy a card a while back example 2 years ago and it breaks. You send it in for a RMA and you get a card back that is the same money value of the card you got 2 years ago. I sent in my 7950 and got back a 8800 GTS OC2. Lifetime Warranty is awesome :D
Happily browsing a forum while it happened. I never overclocked it, it's idle temps were about 54C and 70C full load. It just popped, i could smell smoke so i sniffed around and found out that it was my GFX card.
Well, for those who're wondering, total 12v rail isn't adding up each individual rail amps. You have to see the total watts written on the spec, and divide that W by 12.
9800GTX+ is rated at 156W, which means it takes 13amps. The only remaining question would be how much amps is used by other hardware, and how close to the rated amps can your PSU provide.
If you have a very good PSU, you can get away with a lower than required PSU. Those min required PSU assumes you PSU average quality.
yeah i got the EVGA 9800 GTX+ SC at 850 core 2000 shader , and 2400 memory as well, but the funny thing is( AND IM GOING TO GET A MORE POWERFUL ONE) is that im running it and a q6600 at 3.2 on a 400W Ultra XVS atx psu lol!
I have this card too and I love it :)) This card have a relly good OC potential...I OC it on 830 Mhz on Gpu,2053Mhz on shaders and 2412 Mhz on memory and it´s 100% works with no fragments with stock cooler...:)
I have the "BFG 9800GTX+ OC" edition and it comes stock with 765 core, 2200 Mem and 1800 shader. I can overclock it WAY beyond those speeds but I really dont have a reason to but I do anyway for fun. I would rather buy the OC'd edition and overclock it up to or past Superclocked edition and save the money, although IDK how much the superclocked costs, i didnt evem know there was one but its all good as I said I can clock mine up to around 870 core and beyond.
hey... i might replace my current card to 9800gtx... the problem is i got a 500W thermaltake psu (14A on rail1, 15A on rail2)... i tested 8800gt with my psu and it works fine. will 9800gtx work? I keep hearing stories of ppl getting 8800gt 's to work in 350W psus and 9800gtx in 450w...
I doubt you'll notice much of an increase from a 8800 GT to a 9800 GTX though, reviews do show it to be faster by quite a bit but nothing significant over a 8800 GT
I have a quad core (q6600) If I bought this card would my cpu be bottlenecking. If so what should I get. Thinking about upgrading my current gpu (ati radion hd 2400 pro). specs q6600, 4gb 1066mhz ram, 500 watt psu, 500 gb sata hard drive, windows vista home premium x64.
Just upgraded my power supply to 650 watts with 40 amps on the 12 volt rail. I opened cpu z and it says stepping b revision go. I realize the bad one is referred to as b3. I then open SIW and it just says revision go so would that mean it is a go because I will be looking forward to over clocking if it is.
Dude, this card is awesome! and so is the video (= Do you know what the minimum PSU you can have with it? Mine is 400W, do you think that is enough? (=
Yes it will...I juste got this card after a longs summer work =D And it says on the box: Minimum 450W with minimum 12V... BTW I got the hole system after a summer job not just the card, waiting for some peaces and then I'ma get it built by the pro. Seriously I cant wait ! been waiting so long ! -Q6600 -9800GTX+superclocked -4 gigs ram 800MHz -780i evga motherboard -600 watt PSU -Windows Vista home premium 32 bit -Apevia X-Plorer case Black -And lights XD !!!Anyways yeah 450 is enough :P
LoL i allready have have a system like yours besides the gpu:) Tnx for the answer;) and by the way u can clock the cpu up to 3.06 ghz without any problems.
the rival to the 9800gtx+ is the hd4850. The 9800+ just outperforms the 4850 in most games atm, but it doesnt have as many features for newer games like directx 10.1
I didn't see it mentioned in your info, have you overclocked this card at all? You should be EASILY able to give this card a quick 15% boost, with a little work you could get even more out of it.
I have it @ 800 core, 2000 shader and 1150 memory, with the stock auto fan settings. I don't want to push it more because I want a quiet and stable system.
yea this IS an easy card to overclock, even at load with 35% fan speed it never goes above 70°C, idle its about 53 and usually goes to about 60-66°C while playing games
Have you considered upgrading your cpu? You can generally find some great bargains our there for some real performers. Even a "lowly" e4500 for under $100 is going to be leaps and bounds better than your Pentium D, you can also get great motherboards for as low as $70 bucks to pair it with. My secondary rig is an e4500 paired with an ECS board(I know, but it was free w/ proc.) and with an 8800 GS it is a VERY serviceable gaming rig(not that it touches my main rig). Something to think about.
anyway, it was the logical choice, either spend money on good cpu and get little performance increase in games, or get a newer GPU and get a larger performance increase.
I mean now that you have the nice video card you should consider the cpu upgrade. Just save up some money, you were able to save money for the video card.
I still run this card on my computer, it runs CoH, Medieval all really good its never crapped on me either

the problem is, what is your issue? How are people supposed to help you if they don't know what you want?
anonymous345 3 years ago
Very true, seems that is the main thing I forgot, apologies. But the issue is what range of a PSU of Wattage should I consider?

The warranty is void if you over clock or change the cooler.
just got this card but the cooler is the other version
1nazchan 3 years ago
And? if you don't know the risks of overclocking then you shouldn't be doing it anyway. I don't see a reason to change the cooler, the reference one works very well.
anonymous345 3 years ago
No, I got the 2nd version of the cooler. have you seen it? it pushes air the opposite way... inside the case
1nazchan 3 years ago
i heard that there are a lot of problems with the BFG card... have you been experiencing any problems with it lately cuz im thinking of getting the card (considering that my local computer parts store only has the BFG model.)
biohazardousbacon 3 years ago
I have always bought BFG cards and I have never gotten a single problem. Anyway, they come with a lifetime warranty.
anonymous345 3 years ago
Yes, the lifetime consists in a RMA replacement, but sending the card with UPS, costs 89,65 € that I must pay, plus buy another card (I work with my computer and can't be two or three weeks without it). Its not fair that the user pays the consequences of a bad design.
Gerardius 2 years ago
Your PSU is fine for that video card? I have one PSU of 650w, I dont know if my psu will run this card... can some one help me with this, please.
tame093 3 years ago
My antec earthwatts 500 watt (seasonic made) PSU works fine for this card. See description for minimum PSU requirements
anonymous345 3 years ago
It says 12v and 26v, but your PSU says 24, and mine 25... I dont undertand---
tame093 3 years ago
my psu says 34
anonymous345 3 years ago
no i only a a blah to blah adapter and a other cable
Killabot123357 3 years ago
o.o do you get a PCI-E power Adapter -.- i didnt get one
Killabot123357 3 years ago
yes i did get one, weird that you didnt, where did you buy it from? if u can return it and get another one, could be someone returned it to the store or something and kept the wires
deathblad13 3 years ago
Sincomp a store in germany
Killabot123357 3 years ago
you're supposed to get a 2x molex to six pin pci-e adapter with the card.
I didn't use mine because my power supply has 2 six pin connectors
anonymous345 3 years ago
just bought the thing i love it, and of course bfg lifetime warranty is win

yh i know its like ftw!!

at 0:33 there u see the graphic car over te left screw is a LED this LED turn red when i put in my geforce 9800GTX+ why?? sorry for my bad english
Killabot123357 3 years ago
about the light, not 100% sure, havent tested it out yet cause mobo is messed up so replacing that and its gonna take a bit
deathblad13 3 years ago
its because you didn't plug in 2 six ping pci-e connectors from the power supply
anonymous345 3 years ago
Best thing about BFG guys us that if you buy a card a while back example 2 years ago and it breaks. You send it in for a RMA and you get a card back that is the same money value of the card you got 2 years ago. I sent in my 7950 and got back a 8800 GTS OC2. Lifetime Warranty is awesome :D
gavster646 3 years ago
Same here, my 7800GTX kinda exploded, they sent me an 8800GTS OC 320MB. Good stuff :D
adamhully 3 years ago
"kinda exploded"?
what were you doing with it?
anonymous345 3 years ago
Happily browsing a forum while it happened. I never overclocked it, it's idle temps were about 54C and 70C full load. It just popped, i could smell smoke so i sniffed around and found out that it was my GFX card.
adamhully 3 years ago
can somebody tell me what is ATI CrossfireX multi-gpu support is and what it do??

anonymous345 3 years ago
ok well the card is better, but i dont have enough watt for it. i think.
lorenzo1234567891011 3 years ago
Well, for those who're wondering, total 12v rail isn't adding up each individual rail amps. You have to see the total watts written on the spec, and divide that W by 12.
9800GTX+ is rated at 156W, which means it takes 13amps. The only remaining question would be how much amps is used by other hardware, and how close to the rated amps can your PSU provide.
If you have a very good PSU, you can get away with a lower than required PSU. Those min required PSU assumes you PSU average quality.

thx for explaining, where did you find out this info?

Can't wait to get this!

yeah i got the EVGA 9800 GTX+ SC at 850 core 2000 shader , and 2400 memory as well, but the funny thing is( AND IM GOING TO GET A MORE POWERFUL ONE) is that im running it and a q6600 at 3.2 on a 400W Ultra XVS atx psu lol!
mda40000 3 years ago
Nice! I have the EVGA 9800 GTX and it's also great.. even though other cards overshadow the 9800 GTX, it's still an awesome and fast card.
FOOSAG 3 years ago
I have this card too and I love it :)) This card have a relly good OC potential...I OC it on 830 Mhz on Gpu,2053Mhz on shaders and 2412 Mhz on memory and it´s 100% works with no fragments with stock cooler...:)

My BFG 9800GTX OCX (755/1150/1890 73.6GB/s) has overheating issues. I've opened an RMA with BFG...gonna ship it back so they can repleace it.
AlexandreNegrao 3 years ago
Are there any advantages to buying the 9800 GTX+ Superclocked or is it just a pre-overclocked 9800 GTX+?
sniper109 3 years ago
some factory overclocked gpus are handpicked for their stability at high clock speeds. If you have the money, go right ahead
anonymous345 3 years ago
I have the "BFG 9800GTX+ OC" edition and it comes stock with 765 core, 2200 Mem and 1800 shader. I can overclock it WAY beyond those speeds but I really dont have a reason to but I do anyway for fun. I would rather buy the OC'd edition and overclock it up to or past Superclocked edition and save the money, although IDK how much the superclocked costs, i didnt evem know there was one but its all good as I said I can clock mine up to around 870 core and beyond.
BDoubleZplayer 3 years ago
That's nice, I don't want to push mine much because I want a quiet and stable system
anonymous345 3 years ago
hey... i might replace my current card to 9800gtx... the problem is i got a 500W thermaltake psu (14A on rail1, 15A on rail2)... i tested 8800gt with my psu and it works fine. will 9800gtx work? I keep hearing stories of ppl getting 8800gt 's to work in 350W psus and 9800gtx in 450w...
dunlrock 3 years ago
The 8800GT works on a 300watt, I tested it.
And the 9800GTX+ Superclocked that I have says required 450W or above PSU so your fine man. cheers
Destructo93 3 years ago
i have 8800gt and it works fine but i REALLY dont know about 9800gtx on my psu.
note that my psu's 12vrail1 = 14A, 12vrail2 = 15A. and its supposedly rated as 500W
dunlrock 3 years ago
14+15= 29... you should be fine
I doubt you'll notice much of an increase from a 8800 GT to a 9800 GTX though, reviews do show it to be faster by quite a bit but nothing significant over a 8800 GT
anonymous345 3 years ago
hmm.. I was told rails dont add up... from what i read, rail1 is usually for the CPU, rail2 for molex, sata, and even pcie...
dunlrock 3 years ago
maybe I read wrong???
anyway, high power supply ratings are overrated, check out the latest article at the anandtech website.
if you run a 8800 GT, you will most likely run a GTX fine
anonymous345 3 years ago
alright thanks!
dunlrock 3 years ago
I'm not an expert on rails and stuff so I dont know about them...but I mean...it should work =D
Destructo93 3 years ago
I have a quad core (q6600) If I bought this card would my cpu be bottlenecking. If so what should I get. Thinking about upgrading my current gpu (ati radion hd 2400 pro). specs q6600, 4gb 1066mhz ram, 500 watt psu, 500 gb sata hard drive, windows vista home premium x64.
hockey14822 3 years ago
lol no, the Q6600 is a great cpu (G0 is nice). Overclock it and you'll be fine
anonymous345 3 years ago
Just upgraded my power supply to 650 watts with 40 amps on the 12 volt rail. I opened cpu z and it says stepping b revision go. I realize the bad one is referred to as b3. I then open SIW and it just says revision go so would that mean it is a go because I will be looking forward to over clocking if it is.

Dude, this card is awesome! and so is the video (= Do you know what the minimum PSU you can have with it? Mine is 400W, do you think that is enough? (=
sheetole 3 years ago
minimum is 475 watt with 26 12v rail amps
anonymous345 3 years ago
Do you know if it would run on a recom 450W PSU?
allmighty20 3 years ago
Destructo93 3 years ago
LoL i allready have have a system like yours besides the gpu:) Tnx for the answer;) and by the way u can clock the cpu up to 3.06 ghz without any problems.
allmighty20 3 years ago
can you please explain to me how ? I have no idea of overclocking and could be nice to have it at 3GHz ! Thanks ! :D

ono more question, is the Sapphire Ati Radeon HD3870 Toxic a mach for the 9800gtx+?
allmighty20 3 years ago
the rival to the 9800gtx+ is the hd4850. The 9800+ just outperforms the 4850 in most games atm, but it doesnt have as many features for newer games like directx 10.1
boltonjack 3 years ago
did the card come with crysis??
Peteioz123 3 years ago
nope
anonymous345 3 years ago
I didn't see it mentioned in your info, have you overclocked this card at all? You should be EASILY able to give this card a quick 15% boost, with a little work you could get even more out of it.
mygaffer 3 years ago
I have it @ 800 core, 2000 shader and 1150 memory, with the stock auto fan settings. I don't want to push it more because I want a quiet and stable system.
anonymous345 3 years ago
yea this IS an easy card to overclock, even at load with 35% fan speed it never goes above 70°C, idle its about 53 and usually goes to about 60-66°C while playing games
anonymous345 3 years ago
so u get it i have 2gb in one slot and 3 1gb iin

im getting it next week the 9800 gtx+ superclocked edition so ill post some benchmarks
ohhh and my cpu a e8400 5 gb ddr2 800 and a asus p5b mobo and a 600w power supply
eric02863 3 years ago
why 5 GB DDR2?
that doesn't make sense.
the asus p5b board only has 4 ram slots, are you planning on a 4 GB stick and 1 GB? doesn't make sense if you want dual channel
anonymous345 3 years ago
thats correct!!
FenixXeon 3 years ago
Have you considered upgrading your cpu? You can generally find some great bargains our there for some real performers. Even a "lowly" e4500 for under $100 is going to be leaps and bounds better than your Pentium D, you can also get great motherboards for as low as $70 bucks to pair it with. My secondary rig is an e4500 paired with an ECS board(I know, but it was free w/ proc.) and with an 8800 GS it is a VERY serviceable gaming rig(not that it touches my main rig). Something to think about.
mygaffer 3 years ago
the problem is that i don't have $100...
anyway, it was the logical choice, either spend money on good cpu and get little performance increase in games, or get a newer GPU and get a larger performance increase.
maybe winter i'll have enough
anonymous345 3 years ago
I mean now that you have the nice video card you should consider the cpu upgrade. Just save up some money, you were able to save money for the video card.
