My mom used to sing this to me when I was a little girl. When she got sick I sang it to her. Its been 20 yrs since she was gone. At 37 I still cry when I hear this. I've been able to sing this to my kids and hopefully it will comfort them as it has me.
This Beautiful song is and will remain being My Mother and Myself's, all time Favorite Mother & Daughter song.... before my mothers passing I use to listean to it and cry, on the day of her memorial services I cried, and today I still cry. I miss you Mother.
I have always loved Helen Reddy. I have always loved this song and her song I Am Woman, and I am a Man. Go on Helen Reddy and Go On to ALL Women. You all Rock.
@laarbe Are you married and if not can I run away with you? Just joking; I'm married to a great guy but you sound like a total sweetheart. There should be more like you :)
I love all of the photos in ur video. Helen Reddy was beautiful at the top of her game and has just improved with age. As a young divorced mother (at the age of 20) alone with a two year old, my son and I grew up together. He has become a great husband and father and this song is testament that anything can be possible together!
This song reminds me of how our Mom struggle for us to survive. She died last June of Lung Cancer but till her last days, she's still looking after us. We had our ups and downs but Mom still loves us no matter what. For those of you who still have their mothers with them, be thankful that she's still around and appreciate all the things she had done for you... We love and miss you Mom...
My Mom passed away last June. She did everything for us. Works hard so we can have food on the table and clothes on our back and roof over our heads . We appreciate all the things she did for us. My Dad left us and Mom raised us all by herself and now that Mom is gone, we missed her badly. This is an appropriate song for us. We did everything together to survive. We love you Mom and we know that you're watching and guiding us still until now.
This song has always been me and my Dads, it was just me and him and now that he has passed, I have been left to carry on and this song brings tears and wonderful memories to me that I share with my kids too, thank you, I will always know Helen Reddy, since I was about 6.
This song too al;so reminds me of my late mother who passed just 4 days after her 59th birthday on 12-14-2001..Late at might when I am all alone and on this computer, music usually soothes my soul and this song makes me cry but in a beautiful way. One day I will see my"bestest" girl again in heaven. Thanks for posting this.
This is a very sad song and I love it for personal reasons. The first tine I heard it I thought about me raising a grandson and knowing that he would be the one left behind.
My beloved mother died October 21, 2004. This song was the last song that we had ever danced to and that was the year before she died. I played this at her funeral. Everytime I hear it I cry. It's such a beautiful song and means so much to many of us that associate us and our moms with this song. thank you for posting it... Steve
My mom passed away from an aneurysm a couple of months before my sweet sixteen. When I was younger, she would always play this song and I never understood. I just thought it was bad music, just because it wasn't NSYNC or BSB. Now that I'm almost 21, I listen to this song and cry whenever I hear it. The words hit so close to home, and I only wish that when I was younger I would have understood what it meant. I love and miss you, RIP mommy.
this a great song! I tear up everytime I hear it. My mom drives me nuts but I love her more than words can say!! This has been our song for over years and will always be. I Love you, Mom!!!
Life is short and a mothers love is the best thing in the world. I feel like I gave my mom a hard time, but now I see things much differently now. She had to fight with my dad who wasn't nice to us at all, but she hung in there and still hanging after 36 years. Tried to be the best wife and mom. He didn't appreciate her and neither did I. I hate that now. I was a kid and only saw things the way I wanted. She was a wonderful mom. I hope she knows that. This will be our song now from now on.
I am 43, my mother also was a single parent, and from the first time this song was played on the radio until now one month shy of a year of her death, it will always be our song. I sang it to her before she took her last breath, and even at that moment, a tear rolled from her eye. I miss her just like she said I would!I love you mommy, xxoo
Thank you Helen, we love you more than you'll ever know. Don't tell my wife, but I am crazy about. Those beautiful eyes are always the same no matter when these photos were taken.
What more can I say but, "How beautiful!" A beautiful song sung by a beautiful lady, accented with a beautiful collection of photos. Thanks to whomever did this! :-))
this song was, and is, my song for my daughter and I. I raised her by myself for 11 years before I found a man worthy enough to be her "dad". She (and I) are frightened by clowns,lol! She's 22 now, and about to have her 2nd baby. She's in a hospital far away to try to keep from going into premature labor. I miss her SO much! This has always been, and will always be, our song. You and me against the world, Kourtney, I can't wait till you are home again....{{tears}}
This song brings a tear to my eye--reminds me SO much of my mildly autistic 8 year old son,Gabriel...and me,his lucky mommy. My 3 other children are teenagers now,and most of the time off doing their 'own thing'...but Gabe is always at my side,my sweet little buddy.Thank you so much for posting this beautiful song and video:-)
This song has so much meaning to me. My 5 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son had this song on there tape player and we used to sing it every night before bed while my husband was traveling for his job. My son sent it to me in an email and I just listened to it and I just started to cry. It was great. I just emailed it to my daughter because she is now raising a one yr old boy alone and I think the song might have 2 different meanings for her now. thank you for recording this it was beautiful. Pat
I was a disc jockey when this beautiful song hit the airwaves..This song brought us together and was a tribute of her love for me.Years later it was always an "on air dedication" to my "FAVORITE GIRL" I would always have to play a jingle when the song ended because it touched me so I couldn't speak, I haven't heard it for so many years, Ma and Dad passed away 9 wks apart in '04 ..It will always be our special song .."I love you Mommy, Love you too Baby" .. Goodnight Ma always thinking of ya .
My first born blessing Shawn Michael, so many of us chose this song for our babies, Shawn, whatever path you take in life, where ever you wind up, never forget this is our song, you and me against the world my son, always! Now that you are a father, you understand, no greater love between a parent and their child.
My mother loved Helen Reddy and I always think of her when I hear this beautiful song. It's been 20 years since my mother passed, but all those wonderful feelings of being close to her come back to me everytime I hear this song. Thank you Helen!!! Love you!
My Dad passed away when my first born was a baby. I hadn't heard this song for years, hadn't even thought about it, ya know? My first day back at home, (when life had to get back to normal after his passing), this song was just there, in my head, from start to finish. I just cried and cried, huggin my baby. I miss my Dad. And, ya, I think it was a message too. Music has some kind of connection to your soul.
Awesome job, MYlipGL0SSisP0PPIN07. Your mom should be proud. Helen Reddy is so beautiful. I miss simple music like this. It is good to see a young girl like yourself showing some appreciation for this 70's stuff. This song takes me back to a better place and time. A simpler world too. Kudos to you and kudos to your mom for having all these great pics! :)
When I was about 13, I heard this for the first time in the car with my mom, and I cried just thinking about the day this song would ring true. My 17 y.o. son, Brandon passed away in his sleep from an anurysum, and this song makes me think of us. He was not just my son, but my best friend. I love and miss you so much Brandon. Love, Mom
