That looks delicious! I've made ice cream using Belgian raw chocolate truffles. It is a no-gluten, no-egg, no-cook recipe. Hope you'll take a look sometime. Thanks for an inspiring video!
how did you crack that coconut so perfectly? My method is a rough hit with a hammer, nut inside a towel. I know there HAS to be an easier, better way...
I'm a heart patient, I have to maintain a low water weight. It kills me to see these recipes being shown without exact measurements of the salt. As you know too much salt is not good for anyone, and raises their taste level to where more salt is needed to be tasteful. Os, it would be good if everyone with recipes would not just dump in their salt measurements out of a bag and call it following a recipe. sorry just my thoughts
@radoliz2 you should buy indian black salt (aka "kala namak"). It's known to improve eyesight and your digestive system, plus it doesn't raise the sodium content in your blood (best salt for patients w high blood pressure). and also, you can just omit the salt if you want :)
Interesting, but ice cream without cream? Can't really call it raw with the peanut butter and Maple syrup in there. How about Almost Raw?
I make Raw Ice cream with organic raw milk, organic raw cream, organic raw eggs, organic raw fruits or cacao. It's really good and healthy coming from naturally raised animals. I admit I live where these things are easily available
Please correct me, but did you say grape seed oil is hydrogenated oil? If I misunderstood you then, I apologize. But, grape seed oil is highly recommended by Naturopath doctors just like olive oil, coconut oil, and sesame seed.
No, I think she said rapeseed. Seriously. I know the name sounds weird, but rapeseeds are what canola oil comes from, and I think that's why she said to avoid it.
Please correct me, but did you say grape seed oils is hydrogenated oil? If I misunderstood you then, I apologize. But, grape seed oil is highly recommended by Naturopath doctors.
I thought you did a good job and I am thankful for the recipe. I have made my own raw ice cream with Almond milk and coconut milk and strawberries in the blender and put it in my ice cream maker.
However your ice cube tray was something I never thaught about using before. Kudos! Great idea!
Ps' I have watched a few of your movies and I wish you would post your website so I can go to it. I would like to learn more about what you have to offer.

Coconut, almonds, pecan, peanut butter, maple syrup, dates, Ouch!! You may not want to eat that too often if you are watching your waistline... not that GSG or Kincaid need to, but not everyone may be as lucky ;P
Also Coconut:
The good: This food is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Manganese.
@mvisage no doubt, you can get FAT on any diet, actually. Vegan, Raw Vegan, 811, Healthy Cooked, S.A.D., ect ect & raw isn't always natural...apparently as we've just seen. :p
@emilyj1987 to honor the truth she did say 90% raw at the beginning... but you are right: why title the video "Making raw ice cream". It'd be like opening a vegan restaurant and serve spinach sauteed in butter. Hey it's 90% greens and only 10% dairy... it's not like there is any meat, fish, eggs or something on that dish! LOL ;P
@emilyj1987 it can be raw if you use raw peanuts - right? can't you make peanut butter out of raw peanuts? wouldn't that still qualify as raw? I agree that the store bought peanut butter isn't raw ...
@emilyj1987 well maybe that's what made me sick back in 1985 - they used to sell raw peanuts back then. I know for sure that I ate them and that I got sick from them. Extremely sick - I had to be hospitalized.
@FreedomGale I'm a culinary student and we made ice cream. In order to make the ice cream you have to make a light custard called anglaise which is have to whisk egg yolks with milk or cream and sugar and cooking it gently.
once the custard is cooled down, then you put it in an ice cream machine which churns the ice cream while freezing it.
so yeah regular ice cream is cooked before its made.
@joyceisblasian That's custard. Well you don't have to cook it if you don't use egg. That's custard you're talking about I think. I'm not an expert in culinary arts but I do make ice cream in my machine a lot. Also I use almond milk and soy lecithin in mine.
I'd love to enjoy raw ice cream, but I'm skeptical to whether it would really be "raw". I just thought that if food is heated and ends up being dead, wouldn't freezing foods kills vital nutrients as well? Would someone plz help me out on that! Thanks for any responses.
putting it in your freezer shouldn't cause much damage if really any, but under extreme temperatures yes it would definitely cause damage...Then you can always eat your ice cream fresh from the ice cream maker
I thought it was gonna be a raw dairy cream ice cream, oh well you never lived untill you had raw dairy icecream... it might be risky with germs, but come on take a freaking chance besides this recipe looks like it cost more then a premium brand to buy...
i respect that your vegan, but i rather take "cow juice" then soy milk i won't have erectile problems, i mean look at peoples teeth there are some teeth used to eat meat, i mean all respect but i enjoy eatting meat, no problem killing and butchering a animal for meat... but when shit hits the fan and no vegies are around and only dear or pork around what are you gonna do?
If there is a deer or pig around then there must be veggies available somewhere, if not, i'll be a breatharian for awhile. Cow juice causes erectile problem since the saturated fat in it will clog the arteries in the genital. check out (foods that kill, part 2)
Looks great. I think I might substitute raw cashew butter for the peanut butter (because it's hard to get raw, organic peanut butter).
I usually just put frozen bananas through the juicer and add fun stuff to it for my ice-cream, but I finally have room in my freezer for my ice-cream maker bowl, so I think I will try your recipe in it.
Tonight I am having banana ice-cream with fudge, pecans and shredded coconut. Yummy.
I haven't tried it with an ice cream machine, but it should work. I have another awesome chocolate ice cream recipe in Ch. 11 of my book using an ice cream machine.
