  • Does this display support full 1080 p definition in 3D ? or does the autoscopic technoligy lower the detail ? I honestly dont mind the glasses at all but would like the lower cost of passive glasses as long as image quality can be mantained. I have yet to see an autostereoscopic display in person

  • super

  • Tell me, how do you want to show the youtube users a 3D TV when almost nobody has a 3D screen on there computer to watch it :-P

  • Imaging 3D movies would be funny.

    Look around the corner!

*Walks to the side of the screen*

    Oh shit I see him!

    RUN RUN!!!

  • YOU ALL ARE IDIOTS

  • all this shit of 3d have no future is 2 complicated

  • Philips invented it but LG have also got there now maybe with a little help from Philips.

  • @BUBLOOGABLOO Hi. Im from Philips Town. LG and Philips are the same. If you go into the factory of Philips you find Philips products made for LG :)

  • nice information you got there!

    ledtvscreens(dot)org

  • Looks terrible. They cant produce something that would show the capabilities of this set? Just shitty 1996-era graphics? No wonder they changed their U.S.-sales name to "LG" from "Lucky Goldstar"

  • @CalicoatMaker what are you talking about ....are you on meds from the goverment

  • OMG ITS CDI IN 3D MAH BOI this piece is waht all thru figzters strive foar!NO

  • Auto3D is so much better than regular 3d, who wants to wear, and have to buy those clunky glasses.

  • @rtb1980, no it's actually far worse. The 3d images displayed in the best shutter glass technology for sale is superior to this. Also I don't get why people care about wearing something no more intrusive than sunglasses. It's not like I sit around and worry about my sun glasses when I go out to the park. In fact I forget they are on my face. I'd rather see better 3d with glasses in my house on a wireless 3d set than see restricted 3d that way. But maybe someday this will be better.

  • @scrap1005 I totally agree, I can't understand the aversion to wearing 3D glasses, I get superb 3D results with my interlaced 3D monitor, and passive circular polarized glasses.

  • @scrap1005

well no shit it will get better lol. look at how much just normal Plasma, LCD, and now LED tv's have improved. This WILL be the future of 3D T.V's just give it some time. These guys spend millions of dollars trying to improve this and that, it's just a matter of time. Plus the whole glasses idea isn't that great of an idea. What if you have the whole family over, and you don't have enough glasses? Or a birthday party for your kid? Exactly.

  • The Philips CDI was a far bigger breakthrough, Mah Boi.

  • .......freak...............................

  • explain why is it important?

  • if someone took a video of one of these using two cameras spaced apart just right, we would kinda see the effect. I mean we wouldn't see it in 3d but we would notice how the object looks 3d (just like videos of holograms or uh cgi)

  • Its a shame we can't see it givin our PC Screens aren't 3D :P But damn I'd love to have one :)

  • I've seen they already sell 3d computer monitors! but are super expensive!

  • Nothing new I already own a stereoscopic camera that has a boult in 3d display that functions the same way this one does

  • the guys in the glossy reflection are 3d

  • 'breakthrough'?? 'Innovative'?? LMFAO - I saw this autostereoscopic lenticular technology on display by 4D technologies at E3 in 2002, and it has been available as an LCD montior adaptor kit for a couple of hundred bucks for home users for the last 6 years.

  • I saw this Philips tv on demonstration at a mall in Buenos Aires, Argentina (I'm not from Argentina) and it was the most realistic 3D device I've ever seen!!! And I've seen dozens of 3D devices (mostly with 3D glasses), this tv beats them ALL!!! I hope it comes to our homes someday, because it's SO AWESOME, it trully works and needs NO GLASSES AT ALL!!! Hurray!

  • Let me film this HD definition color display with a black and white 8mm to demonstrate color! Wowsers, isn't that something else!

  • philips invented most of the products we used every day, philips is now working with lg and sony is working with samsung, philips is the older of all electronics brands, they invented the color tv, compat cassette, records, dvd, blue ray in parthnership with sony, video2000 better desighn than the betta and vhs but a commercial failure, they made the lcd tvs, the ibnvented the cdi and many more inventions, philips was found in 1891 so they been around more than 100years , sony was found in 1946.

  • Yea.. ahem, one thing mate - Philips didn't invent this.

  • @chrisjarram

But its still important to put the philips brand on it because in Europe its important for white people to see they have a stake in everything. Kind of like how many white American males still only buy American cars.

    Its pleases their egos.

  • no, Philips implemented and refined those thing. Engineers working solo invented those things And it doesent matter if Philips was around in 1891. All that means is that they spent a few extra decades doing nothing. No one did anything important until the transistor was invented by bell labs.

  • @mitsuevo8mr Sony is a marketing company, they develop and invent nothing. Even teh single gun CRT that Sony marketed as Trinitron was developed by PHILIPS. the Cd was brought to Sony by Philips as a working system, Sony was just brought in for marketing in teh U.S., after Panasonic didn't want to be involved, Matsushita was Philips first choice for dealing with. Panasonic is a much larger company than Sony, sony is gone in 10 years. Their tv's are made for em by Samsung and others, they 0

  • it's good to see the dutch brand being the first with a major brakethrough :)

  • Ahem, not their 'breakthrough'!...

  • I want to see a video of this with a stereoscopic camera, it wouldn't be 3d for us but we would be able to see it "float" away from the screen

  • Of course it would be 3d for us.

  • I wish we could see what it actually looks like on youtube :( Damn my 2d monitor! :P

  • now this is tech they should be perusing! nobody wants to wear retarded looking glasses whilst watching tv.

  • plasma's were very expencive to at the beginning. Now in ten years prices have dropped 90 %. That means in ten years we will be able to have one at home, for between $1500,- $1000,-. I want to have one!

  • gypsyslide....was that necessary...now really.

  • The prices are stupid.. wanting 15000 dollar`ish is just preventing people from buying it.

  • indeed, makes no sense.

  • No dumbass, its preventing you from buying. Anyway, it doesn't take long for the prices to come down and the initial offering price is always high in the electronics market. So stop being a whiny bitch and learn your market!

  • Phillips 3D display technology was displayed in previous exhibitions (e.g. NAB 2007). However this video is aimed to display the explanation how the 3D display operates using a novel array of electrically controlled micro-lenses synchronized with the video.

  • nothing new, i have seen such displays last year @ IFA (berlin) and 2 or 3 years ago at GC (leipzig)

  • robot aids
