This would be a lot more useful and, in my mind, a lot easier to implement if you just had the Core SSH into the Generic PC. This would also allow you to control the computer when it isn't on the LMCE LAN which is common as many people, especially those with large numbers of PCs and MDs in the house, prefer to separate their PC networks from their LMCE network.
Any idea how viable porting this to windows PCs is? My workstation dual-boots and it would be awesome to be able to utilize this from both linux and windows.

If your workstation dual-boots, then just boot in to your LinuxMCE partition. Duh!
Windows is an inferior platform and very slow to use. It doesn't support networking as well for as complex a system as LinuxMCE.
