  • i have a question to be answered by any one who knows how. i want to run a high end game say crysis or mainly crime craft on vmware. dont ask why, its a long story. just tell me what to do. i want to make my virtual machine use my gpu on my pc ( i have a zotac gtx 570 AMP) <- if this helps any.

  • this is so fuckin old

  • OMG DX8.1 If only it were 2002...

  • Hi all.

Hey, do you know if antialiaising works??????? Because on VirtualBox and other virtual machines, don't work!!!

  • I cant play games on my VMware Fusion it says your graphics card or video card has properly stopped working even though on my mac it works properly please help!

  • i get a black screen.... every single time. the games im trying to play are from like 1998, so nothing super advanced. any suggestions?

  • @acidsyringe69 Unfortunately, the super advanced thing about that is that older games & DOS Games can be the most bitch-hard games to get running.

I've been working for days to try to get a game made for Windows 95 / 98 to work but I have tried everything I can do.

I used virtual Windows 7, XP, 98 from my Mac = Didn't work

I tweaked the settings on the virtual machines, trying: low res, compatibility modes, low colors = Didn't work

    F the youtube comment limit.

I could list so much more things

  • @acidsyringe69

Windows PC running Windows 7 trying all compatibility modes and settings = Didn't work

Running a virtual machine with Windows 98 through VMware ON a Windows (7) PC = Didn't work

I've tried VMware and Paralells and i could keep trying but it just wont work......*Sigh*

    And yes, suggestions for you:

I'm not quite sure how experienced you are with these types of things so tell me if u dont know how to do this but:

Set the EXE of the game in compatibility mode for Windows 98 or

  • @acidsyringe69 Windows 98 or Windows 95 and also tick the "Disable visual themes" and "Set resolution to 640x480"

Or you could try googling for years without finding a solution

  • @Shadowfied thanks for the suggestions. i was finally able to just find someone that made a mac port of the game(dungeon keeper), a .DMG file, and that works. took me alot of time to find it though(about page 43 on yahoo after looking through google). it was a torrent but the game is from 1998 so i dont think its that big of deal. thanks again :)

  • MAN FUCK THIS VMWARE FUSION SHYT!!!!!!! MAN U CANT PLAY ANY NEW GAMES AS IN BFBC2 OR GTAIV OR LIKE THE ONLINE ACING GAME CALLED PROJECT TORQUE.......man the graphic card which is vmware svga 2 sukkxxx i thought it would play on my normal graphics card on mac which is a ati radeon x1900 pro...which easily can support gta iv or and new games like mw easily....man fukk u VMWARE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lilballer69er x1900? wtf? what year is it? dude UPGRADE. Just a little rule that i've found, you need twice as powerful of a graphics card to virtualize graphics at a useable speed as normal, so lets say you have (whatever brand) 1500 gtwhatever, and it runs at 60 FPS and you have (whatever brand) 2500 gtxwhatever, and its twice as fast as the 1500 (120 fps) , then that'll run it at the same speed as the 1500 while virtualizing (60fps)

  • @ERTLPFM for ur info i said pro...if u chek it up thats the new one....also vm uses its own original program graphics card which cant even support like the oldest games such as gta sa...lukily i changed mine to a pararell which also uses its own graphics card but it can support games such as cod mw 2 but in a low quality but games such as nfs and gta works like magic....

  • what's the song on 2:24-2:37 I can't find it can somebody help me!! PLZZ!

  • @Ge0or Dallas Superstars - I feel love

  • i don't understand 3D games it all looks flat :S like i just don't understand and it's hard to explain the bit i don't understand

  • @scrachdat they use 3D graphics, dumbass

  • That has to be the most immature comment i've ever read in a while

  • *head asplodes*

  • You have no idea of what you're talking about.

  • derf de derf derf.

  • @Magickslider wtf lol

  • buy mac

    install windows

    lol

  • What is the tune that plays at :30?! My speakers love it!

  • remix of a kris menace song.

  • when you get this software are the windows operating systems alredy on it or do you hhave to buy them aswell??

  • you have to buy an OS seperatly

  • u need to buy windows os separately. Fusion gives ability to run multiple OS on the same hardware in the form of Virtual Machines.

  • just torrent a version of windows... it wont for sure work every time but it will sometimes.... and plus finding keys and serial #s is hard.

  • Get KCNScrew, just got iWork with that!

  • The 3rd major release VMWare fusion will FINALLY support aero! :D

It will also supposedly give better 3d performance, but I find it suspicious that there are never any video of games like Left for Dead, just pictures.

  • would this chug running newer games?

  • are you able to use control keys for the game with VMFusion?

  • ciekawi mnie tylko dlaczego nie masz tego na całym ekranie

  • is there a program like compiz for mac os x to download??

  • I looked around a while and I didn't find anything :(

  • why are my graphix soo bad then? or rather i say so sllooooow...... i have a mac book 2009 pro

  • I want a MacBook :( I'm too poor though :(

  • I feel you bro...but one day we'll get one. I'm saving already as much as I can. Hey, what do you think, is paralles 4 better or vmware fusion?

  • Parallels 4 FTW!

  • hey superdeat, I found a solution for our problem. you can use an msi wind as a macbook!! only 400 bucks instead of 1500...HeHe!! peace

  • Finance one. I pay 20 bucks a month for mine with no interest for 2 years.

Best Buy usually has the best deals.

  • do you have to pay for the windows?

  • no, download 1 copy at the pirate bay!

  • is there a reason for not playing it in full screen?

  • Probably to show that it is a mac.

  • Iove you man thanks so much

  • Can Company of Heroes be played on VMware? I have MacBook Pro and I do not use it for hard core gaming but just once in a while, so when I play CoH I put it on medium settings.

  • so, i have a macbook, not a macbook pro, should i even try running newer games on it with vmware?

  • depends. unibody macbook (aluminum), macbook black, or macbook white. Unibody: definitely, black: maybe, depends on the processor, white: not the best idea in the world

  • so does that mean, i can run games with the pre-partitioned bootcamp windows disk with vmware on mac? I tried this way last night. It says it doesn't support my video card in windows. The accelerated 3D option in menu is checked too. Does that mean I've to reinstall windows as a virtual machine? My windows XP itself is fine if I boot it with bootcamp, everything worked including video card. Hope you get my question.

  • Can you play halo 2 please message me if you can i have the new macbook 2g ram and an NVidia graphics 7400 and a 2ghz proccessor... i hope it works, crossing fingers.

  • Seriously:

I bought both them VMWARE and PARALLELS

Listen carefuly what I have to tell you:

VMWARE IS THE BEST. Miles away from Parallels. The best tool for you "play" windows on your OSx (no heavy impact on your MAC what so ever!!!!!)

    Trust me!

    Thanks VMWARE Team. Really thanks.

  • can any one tell me if i can run guild wars on this plz plz plz

  • yes you can :)

  • thx pro ^_^

  • Comment removed

  • I heard that VMWare 2.0 has pixel shader 2.0 support. This is exactly what Vista Aero needs to run. Can someone confirm that this works?

  • Crossover is better. Vmware is software rendering

  • computer specs?

  • You can use your bootcamp partition in VMWare

  • I have tested Call of Duty 4 on VMWare Fusion and it runs at about 10 to 20 fps per settings

  • lol x 8.1

  • Which gives better performance (graphics and speed)?

    Bootcamp or Fusion?

  • Obviously Boot Camp. In Fusion you have to emulate a PC on top of Mac OS which uses resources itself and you have to use the VM drivers. With boot camp you basically just enable an MBR besides the GPT and this means you get all your hardware functioning at 100%.

If you want to do games or graphics intensive work you better make a separated partition with boot camp.

    Sry for my poor english

  • Can u run bootcamp AND VMware?

  • Yes, but I'm not quite sure if you can use the same OS installation (partition) in both. Don't think so. You probably would have to install the OS you want to use twice which is a waste of disk space imho.

  • Yes, you can install just once to the Bootcamp partition, and either boot to the partition in Native Windows mode, or run it as a virtual machine inside MacOS.

  • VMware uses the bootcamp partition.

  • its not true,VMWare uses a virtual machine

  • If you have a partition with bootcamp, Vmware can boot from it, that's what I say.

  • Crossover gamens, witch u can get VERY cheap or download

  • games*

  • bootcamp

  • hey i was wonderin could u run vmware fusion on window....

  • Fusion is for mac. There are other products from VMWare to allow you to run Virtual Machines on windows.. or any other OS almost. I mean run almost any OS in a virtual machine on almost any OS

  • Are you stupid? Clearly.

  • VMware fushion and parallels desktop, which is better?

  • I have used both. Parallels is much slower and a memory hog. Fusion is amazing in ease of use/installation/support/abilities.

I also just bought the older version of Fusion on Amazon for 17.99. The VMware fusion homesite offers free upgrade to newest version for owners of older version - download - use older version password (from Amazon used purchase) - Viola! Newest version for under 20.00!

  • And a test with MMORPG?!?!! Anyone?? Rappelz??

  • the "accelerate 3d graphics" box is greyed out (its unclickable). How do you think I can enable it? Appreciate your response. Thanks.

  • you must use a supported OS like windows 2000 or XP in order to get the accelerate 3d feature

  • ★★★★★ [watch it again] ★★★★★

    [3D objets] ................. [.3D]

  • i also have vmware installed on pc, but yours look very smooth bro.

could you explain to me how you get it so smoothly please ?

    i get lags every 10fps

  • this are old games new games aren't working good i did try call of duty 4 it ran on lowest settings but still not smooth

  • just get it for mac

  • i have cod 4 for mac and windows

  • amazing! :O

  • does cs source work on that???

  • just use bootcamp. its free, and runs windows nativley

  • you know, I'm having a lot of trouble installing windoze, becouse of weird, random problems

  • cause its windows :S

  • All can say is if you want to play games that you know WILL play fine youre just going to have to run it in bootcamp.

  • All I can say is vmware fusion is NOT good for playing current market games. Team fortress is a low spec requirment game and it wont even play that. (I have an early 2008 17inch macbook pro)

  • Yeah, this demo was probably done on a Mac Pro with at least 4 cores (more likely 8), 5 or 6 GB or RAM, and a GeForce 7800, 8800, Quadro 4500, 5600, or ATI 1900 or 3870.

Hardware in the machine you're running makes a huge difference with VMWare Fusion 3D graphics - I upgraded my Hackintosh from a Core2Duo e8400 to a Core2Quad q9450 and noticed a boost in 3d rendering.

  • but thats why we use crossover games which is just like running games on a pc.

  • I have crossover games too and thats not very impressive. It will play TF2 fine but the water is very dodgy and as for other current market games there are not many other games it can properly play.

  • true the water is pretty messed up but thats why i just play little games and run little programs on vmware such as rpg maker and run a mysql server or a private server because gaming on a mac isnt that good -.- thank god COD4 is coming to macs!

  • "thank god COD4 is coming to macs!" amen to that, I hope they have more stuff in it though because I have completed it.

  • If you are meaning TF2, that is so not a low spec game :|

  • When will the PC version of VMware support DirectX 9 games?

I have a few DirectX 9 games that I can't run in fail Vista..so I want to run them by using Windows XP in VMware.

  • Only VMware Fusion has 3D support. Sorry

  • It's coming in a future release, but probably for the VMWare Workstation (not free) version.

  • That is ok, if it works decently, I will get that :)

  • How do you make the screen bigger for games? as I dont like playing games in a tiny box, I tried to play a game and it goes in a tiny box even tho it set to full screen? is there away to make the box bigger like in parallels?

  • @Stepfanny

You can make the window as big or as small as you like. You can go full screen too. You can also use unity mode which is awesome. Ive used both Parallels and VMware Fusion. VMware Fusion beats Paralles in every way. Im surprised that people still use Parallels when VMware Fusion is superior in every way.

  • Any idea what the song is?

  • not sure why anyone would interested in playing games would be using a mac but this is technically damn impressive

  • @Darkshroom

Most people dont have a computer just to play games. Some do, but they are a true minority.

This gives Mac users the option to play Windows games right on the Mac desktop instead of booting into Windows to do so.

  • How did you get your games to run that fast? I usually get around ten to thirty Frames per Second on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. I appreciate all of the help!

  • I usually get around ten to thirty frames per second on the original powerpc Tony Hawks :P GO IBOOKS!

  • Not knowing you pc spces. i would have to say build a new pc. quadcore with 4 gigs of ram and 8800gt superclocked gfx card and windows xp sp3 i can easily get over 100fps on crysis (all high settings!) So like i keep telling people, its all hardware not software.

  • Bit hard to judge given youtube's video compression, but nice demo, thanks for the effort!

  • agree.

  • You can't run os x through vmware on a pc. Apple doesn't allow for it.

  • What a fool, you can run it in VM Ware. Not only that but I also run OS X on my older rig.

  • Maybe if you use hackintosh sources. Otherwise, no, VMware will not run / install OS X natively.

  • very nice but im very confuzed

    i have a amd athlon 64 3000+ with 1.5 gb ram dual and a nvidia 7300 gt 256 mb

    i have a question..

if i install mac ox x on my pc

and run windows xp on vmware inside mac

can i play games like nfs most wanted, gta san andreas ?????

or i can only play lower games ?

  • My problem is I'm trying to play Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and I'm ot able to get it to work right the mouse jsut seems to move on a grid rather then freely so i can't really do anything...

  • lol try running a benchmark thats not almost a decade old XD.

    Nice monitor.

  • LOL year

  • When will they add in 3D support for DX9.c for the Windows version?

  • They already did but there's no shader support

  • How recently? I tried running the DirectX 9.c 3D test which is the default test (and doesn't use any shaders) and this did not work.

  • i hav civ 4 and warlords. say i buy beyond the sword for pc and run it on vmware. do i hav to buy warlords and civ 4 for pc also?

  • i hav civ 4 and warlords. say i buy beyond the sword for pc and run it on vmware. do i hav to buy warlords and civ 4 for pc also?

  • How do you enable hardware 3d acceleration if the box is grayed out?

  • you have to shut down the os, then go to settings display and click on the box. Restart the os and it should work

  • Thanks bro, it worked like a charm : ) I had my system on "Suspend" mode earlier. Thanks a bunch!

  • ive done that to mine, it still wont run games? why? it says to accelerate Direct3D in dxdiag, its greyed out!

  • I use a PC with OSX Leopard :) FREE, no munnies, on top of that I spent under $800, 3.2GHZ Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory, 7600GT.. 500GB HD Sata.. I can restart to XP or use Parallels/Vm Ware :), SEEEEE i gots 19"Lcd Samsung Widescreen.. I didn't spend nearly as much as a Mac and got better performance for cheaper :), BUT on the downside the system isn't inside the monitor, but really I don't mind.. dunt have to worry about upgrades :)

  • yep i run mac os x 10.5.1 leopard on vmware on windows xp x64 bits take a look

    /watch?v=whlXU-TFOHw

  • how big is the cinema display?

  • Wine is better with performance

  • Awesome dude; thanks for taking the time....

  • what machine are you using? That is a cinema display? I own a iMac intel 17 inch ati x1600

  • Better 3D capabilities than Parallels?

  • haha im watchin this video on wmware usein my bootcamp partition nd the unity mode, just after installin it nd messin around not like i ave 2 use windows 2 use internet r sumthin

  • if you want to play video games on a new mac you simpyl get windows boot camp which will enable you to be able to start your computer as a windows computer without having any third party software stuff required to run at the same tiem.. also allowing you to not worry about any questionable compatability issues.

  • EricVWgolf, LEARN TO SPELL!

  • You do realize you can run windows natively?

And im pretty sure even a half decent mac pro could run crysis at whatever the hell settings you want

Do your research before slagging off macs

  • show me a link where a mac is playing crysis at the highest settings all special effects are on and getting good framrates none of this 20 or 30 fps its playable though ..macs can play crysis but not on the highest settings.not with just a 8600gt or a ati 1900 graphics card under there belt so outdated cards

  • Well um... Mac's graphics cards are the same cards used on Winblows boxes.... Nvidia, ATI Radeon, etc...

  • The only Pro-App oriented video card in the entire Apple lineup is the $2800 Nvidia Quadro FX series available for the Mac Pro system, and it, like all the other GPUs available throughout the Apple product line is a PC card clone with a factory Apple EFI firmware flash.

  • Yes, it is, but that doesn't change the fact that Apple choose cards that are better for graphics design, video production, and not for games. I see I have 5 minuses, and that just proves that most of the Mac Fanboys have very little knowledge about hardware, what cards do what, and how the computer works in general.

  • You can believe what you like, but the fact is that whether or not Apple intends its users to utilize cards originally designed for gaming for video production it has no barring on the cards themselves. They are still gamer card clones regardless of what Apple would prefer you to use them for.

  • eric vw golf, i'm playing crysis with drect x 10 on my imac, in full with a huge 31 fps rate. so bow down:D i'll post a vid soon

  • mmmmm interesting I might turn to the dark side after all ;-) Thanx for the response guy's . I look foward to the video.

P.S that new gloss black Imac looks sweet !! do you recomend a certain Mac ??

  • the new i ma should be great :-)

  • howed he get tony hawks?

  • try to play crysis with a mac hahaha no way haha

  • Oh, don't bugger me, I'll just stick with Parallels... I somehow think that hypervisor is faster than just flat out emulation.

  • Parallels is way too slow...

  • Actually, "hypervisor" is just marketing terminology.

VMware and Parallels both support hardware-assisted virtualization (Intel's VT-x).

VMware also has a finely-tuned virtualization engine based on binary translatation, which runs the vast majority of code directly on the processor. This is not virtualization, not emulation.

  • Bought Fusion based, partly, on the ability of Fusion to play 3d games...

Funny how the shipped version 1.0 didn't run GW out of the box.

Is there a How-To for Fusion running XP and/or Vista??

  • Also you seem like a person that likes to be limited. I, along with other pc users prefer the freedom of choice. I enjoy the fact that I can build a totally Boss gaming rig for my self, and a nice practicle office PC for my wife. I also like that I can swap out hardware for better hardware and not have to buy a new computer. And the only reason why it appear Mac's have better software is because you only have a fraction of what PC's have. We have choice, you don't.

  • what do you mean limited...and how do we have a fraction of what PC's have?

  • Three letters: LOL. Please read up on the subject before trolling like this.

  • J165AW you need to stop posting... You're posts are sounding less plosible the more I read them. "The intel chips are made for Mac" sounds like sound like you believe intel put in that kind of effort. Your wrong. And if Mac's are suppose to be better, why are you using parts originally for PC's anyway??? Perhaps apple found a flaw in their logic.

  • Firstly, dont use the term PC for Windows, because Macs are PC's too...Also, the Mac OS is made for the specific harddrive they use in Macbook Pros (i did more research, and I was worng about the Intel chips being modified for Mac). Since the OS knows wat it's running on, it can use the full potential of the harddrive, ram, CPU, etc.

  • Macs don't use special hard drives...I think you might be confused.

Macs use a different hard drive FORMAT.

    Like Windows uses Fat/NTFS

OSX uses HFS/HFS+ and can read and write to Fat, and only read NTFS.

They don't use special CPU's or ram, either.

Except the Macbook line, they have the CPU's integrated into the motherboard.

The only thing that is different between the two is that Mac's use Intel's EFI and PC's use BIOS.

  • Beware of the trolls !

  • Could not play HALO on it.. Kept on getting "could not initialize directx 3d"

  • Funny question but what's the music in the beginning?

  • this is really impressive i've to say :)

  • ha ha Duke nukem forever :woot woot:

does it run the iso of the games or what?

  • Mac still sucks cos VM ware shares RAM so you dont get full system preformance Nice try tho..

  • What else could it do? If you want full performance get Boot Camp.

  • BOOTCAMP

  • MS Win 2000/XP cant address more than 4GB of RAM. so it does not matter.
