@Trav4011 Ahh... Yes- I've heard of this "rod/stroke ratio" before, especially with the QR. So if the rod was LONGER, and the stroke kept the same, that would be a better setup for keeping the motor together at those high rpm's? (BTW: now I know why your name is familiar to me!-- it seems to be all over the Sentra forums)
Watching that tach max out like that had me wincing and waiting for the inevitable POW! of the rod(s) divorcing themselves from the block. Seriously though--yeah i know the 07+ cranks are good and balanced and all but, that motor still has a 100 mm stroke. That is ALOT of stroke when compared to other engines...and a HELL of a lot of stroke at 8K rpm's. Team RTR's racing B15's QR showed signs of stress cracks in the crank from high rpm's of around 7500...that nugget of info is echoing in my brain
@Chris17psi RTR was using the old 4 counterweight crank.. and that's the reason that you saw a lot of the problems with stress cracks/ovaling of journals. The new 8 counterweight crank can spin to around 7800rpm safely.. The stroke isn't what kills this engine.. it's the combination of short stroke/short rod (1.43:1 R/S ratio). But, that's another subject..
So these are goin to be my mods for the head work arp head studs bc springs and retainers ajusa headgasket port and polish and i currently have the jwt stage 1 cams. im trying to make it to 450whp on the lowest boost possible mayb 16-18 psi so i can prove to all these lames in my city u dont need big boost to go hard
what up dude i have an 2006 spec v with cp pistons manley rods for my turbo set up i was on the dyno two weeks ago on abt 16 psi making 388whp and 372tq and then i noticed my head studs lifted cuz i was running the ajusa ones that claim to be better than stock so i just did my turbo back exhaust a few days ago now im goin to build the head port and polish and do the bc valve springs and retainers can i safely rev to 7200?
its crazy what 13psi can do i saw the vid b4 turbo slow as hell but now that thing can move i wish my camaro would rev to 8000 like that but its fun having low end torque though
For all of you asking about the crank, it's very likely he's running the 07+ QR25 crank which was forged vs the crappy cast crank for the older QR's. If it isn't the 07+ crank, then he might be using the SR20 crank which fits in the QR25 block with some modifications. Aside from this, I believe you still need to change out the valve springs and possibly cam if you're looking to rev that high.
i sent my ecu out to technosquare and gave me a custom map with a higher redline. If you cant go full throttle then it's the sensor of your TB, if it's the maf sensor it wont allow u to go past 2400 rpms which is in limp mode, meaning u need a new maf sensor or try cleaning the sensor
@perumerican treadstone turbos has a turbo kit out for it now i have the same car as you i just boosted it, only problem is you gotta change the intake manifold ours doesnt hold up to the air pressure I cracked it first day
^ lol, it's only built with OEM parts, did some research here and there but ima build it with aftermarket parts sometime in spring. Yea man u been MIA in gayonne lol.
fuck that's beastly.

very nice im building by spec v right now for boost besauce of past piston ringland failure.
my goal is 350whp abound 10-12 psi.
i wanna send my ecu out to get reprogramed for the higher redling but idk much abou it.
red03specv 2 years ago
that's definitely sick!!! I have an 03 specv and am in the process of building first to boost... what turbo kit setup you using for 13psi?
ttusandman 2 years ago
it's a mix of parts but the turbo is a turbonetics 50trim

Thats sick...
I have a 08 Spec V... does anyone know about any upgrades???!!!

thanks.
For starters, the ebay header and midpipe is good. it showed a gain of about 10whp or so when tested by a specv forum member.

what changes did you have to make in order for the car to be able to handle an almost 8k rev limit?
thanks man sick spec
