@NeoJD Hi Neo.. Not sure what you mean, I stayed with two German paramedics from two different parts of Germany! They have the doctors on cars if that is what you mean, with a paramedic driver tho!! Thanks for your comment!
@s62wx What he meant was paramedic is more an anglo-saxon thing! in europe mainland there is in most countries ambulance technician and emergency medical support personn that cant give any drugs (meds) to the patient only basic first aid. when critical they ve got doctors and nurses to do the job!! without them they are more taxi (transport) people than mobile A&E unit!! Nice video though..
@ST11002006 Hi, no it was a visit that I arranged after getting to know the guys over there through the photo sharing site Flickr. My trust allowed the guys & gals to come over here and to go out with our vehicles & staff. But like our visit over there all self arranged & financed! I was the hub for the arrangements!
In fact I am going back over there in two weeks and again later in the year..
Hey m8! First off: nice vid! I would be looking forward to spend a couple of shifts with a fellow paramedic. Maybe that's something I can take care of in the future ;-)
For some of those questions here I'd like to try and answer them, although I haven't been in the german paramedic business for long.
See replies below and regards to all paramedics and firefighters out there ;-)
No this was the electric siren, it's called "Pintsch Bamag". The pneumatic siren (so called "Martinshorn") is often only used when crossing a dangerous intersection!
Well you should be able to go out 'third manning' with both the Police and Ambulance Services if you write a very nice letter to the respective bosses saying how you are really interested in joining their service etc!!
Germany dosnet have paramedics. They got emergency doctors.

@s62wx I'm sure he meant it as a compliment. "German paramedics are so good they're like doctors themselves"
I feel so strange saying that.

great video. i love the german sirens, though they sound like they are broken!
neenawuk 2 years ago
He he! They do!
s62wx 2 years ago
If you're talking about the sirens around 3:00 then I can clarify: (As far as I know) most ambulance cars here have 2 versions of the electric siren.
One is called "City siren" and one "Country siren". The change of tone makes it easier for people either in the city or in the country to hear us.
Shotgunico 1 year ago
@Shotgunico Ah that clears that up! Cheers mate!

Cool video. Nice driving when you was onboard the ambulance.

It was fun being out with them - see how they did it compared to us!!
s62wx 2 years ago
Why don't they use the pneumatic siren? I saw the horns!

Oh ya, guess I should add that it sounds slightly different, but very close. But hey, it can be just as effective.

Nice video! Personally I don't mind that siren that they're using there. Where I live in Canada, they use that tone on occassion.

Yeah i bet it was. I like the idea of going on 'duty' with a paramedic, despite wanting to be a traffic cop.

corr, that sounds good. I've always wanted to be a traffic cop but lately i've found myself drawn towards the ambulance service, not sure why.
