  • @Neutr4lNumb3r You must be smart.

  • Which lesson number does he demonstate how to play in the differrent dynamics on the piano (that is, which lesson number of the newer re-take videos)? He says in this video that he'll show us how to actually play the dynamics in a later lesson.

  • haha but dont feel guilty

A keyboard. Im so excited , im finding time while daughter is taking a nap during the day or at night.

  • Is this guy gay? Most definitely.

  • @NitishChauhan1 He's still awesome : D

  • @NitishChauhan1 Does it matter? Definitely not. Gay's not an insult. Try Shakespeare you artless idle-headed lout.

  • No comment. AH CRAP.

  • 5:08 i told my hand to do those specific instructions and it didn't :(

  • I like his videos.. but he repeats everything loads of times - this video could have been 5 mins long.

  • I wonder how his students feel when they find out that what they are paying for, everybody on youtube is getting for free :)

  • I must ask..why where you making a lesson at 3 AM?!?

  • I have a Question!!!!! You are an awesome teacher and if you highly highly highly HIGHLY!! recomened for me to do flash cards for intervals, but my question is how do I do the flashcards for intervals like how do i write it out? please write back I really want to learn the notes faster! thanks!!!!

  • F (Loud) looks like flashplayer logo

  • you are great. get some sleep. lol

  • I know he was up in the early morning. However, piano forte means "soft loud" not "loud soft". He got it backwards. I know because I'm fluent in Italian.

  • better than the credit u get

  • I'm learning the shit outta this music :D

  • I think it should be 'creScendo' with the letter 's', as well as 'decreScendo'; hence the sound /sh/ in pronounciation. Anyway, great lesson, I am learning so much from you!

  • great stuff man!!

  • Thank you, I have learned more from you than I have learned from my music teacher in a year. Woe hoe.....

  • your akward laugh between pauses is hilarious

  • just wanted to say thanks man..

  • Thanks for posting up these vids! My dream to play the piano is one step closer with each vid i watch ^-^ along with impressing a girl :D

  • Andrew thank you so much, you are a wonderful teacher.

  • You look like a pianist!

  • alright hand... play a song

    go

    ... didn't work

    dang it

  • forte actually means "with force"

  • Forte makes me jump every time!

  • I am blessed to have stumbled upon your videos. I really wanted to play piano since I was young but we can not afford the private lessons. Now your lessons feel like an actual one on one with a private tutor! I am learning at my own pace and your tips are really making it easy. GOD Bless people like you who share their time, talents and treasures for free!

  • :O YOU SAID CRAP!

  • Thank you for the great lesson, teacher ! :)

  • I have been viewing your videos and I am enjoying music again. You are awesome and you explain it in a fun way. No stress or pressure! Thanks for the time you took to do these great videos.

  • In a year of piano class, in school, I learned a third of what you covered in this, and the last 5 lessons

  • You are a God send!

  • Greetings from Denmark.

Thank you for the free lessons its totally awesome. I'm learning new stuff in every lesson!

    I have a question:

The grade books you are referring to from I don't know grade beginner to grade ARCT where can I buy these books? I have searched the Internet and cannot find them. I'm thinking only people in Canada can buy them?

Maybe you know a place where I can buy them online?

    Yours Sincerely

  • Thanks for the great lessons!

  • saxaphone is almost the same!

  • YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU FOR PUTTING THESE VIDEOS UP... MY MOTHER BOUGHT ME A PIANO FOR MY BDAY BECAUSE IW AS DIEING FOR ONE. & IT BROUFHT THESE SHEET MUSIC BOOK . BUT I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO READ IT & THANKS TO YOU I ALMOST KNOW EVERYTHING ON THE MUSIC SHEET . THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS VIDEOS UP FOR EVERYONE TO SEE .

  • I wish you could teach me in person :s I'm a quick learner, but only when I'm being taught directly

  • Excellent. It took me a long ass time to get through this in music school. hahaha

    thanks for doing this

  • the fly at 4:32 was pretty distracting.

It made me go from your channnel here to write this comment pointing out how distracting the fly was because it made me go from your channel and come here to write this comment pointing out how distracting the fly was etc.

    See what i mean? xD

    REMAKE THIS LESSON... lol jk

  • I don't understand the necessity of ties. Two quarters together = 1 half doesn't it? Is it specifically for notes that need to be held longer than4 beats?

  • @FuckItSnoopy I think a tie is necessary to connect notes that are in different measures....don't qoute meh on this though

  • @axlfanatic2 correct.

  • Excellent video. What is the name of the piece of music played in the intro?

  • WHAT??

    3 : 30 in the morning? =="

thats insane. teaching in the early morning lol

  • Wow. Intervalic reading. I would never have thought that a pro would do it that way. I mean a g is always at the same spot on the piano and the same spot on the sheet.

However going up a certain interval on the piano means skipping the same amount of keys but isn't it way more complicated to keep track of it? I mean depending on where you are a full tone might be next to the key you are playing right now or two keys further because you are at lets say e right now.

How can it be easier that way?

  • Forte = strong and piano = cool or easy more or less. But great video otherwise :)

  • Melodic is short for melody. Ummm melodic is a longer word :D That's why I'm learning though, you make it entertaining.

  • they speak German in AUstria...

  • i hate skipping some of these videos because i've already learned accents in band since i was in 5th grade, but they are still very helpful and it's good to review! thanks :)

  • thank you =)

  • One thing though: Vienna is in Austria... where they speak Austrian... which isn't like Italian...

Ah, whatever. I get it anyways :3

  • @BohemianStarshipRang

They dont speak fucking Austrian, they speak German.

  • I don't think my piano class ever went over this!

  • thanx bro:)

  • im am confused big time???

  • HELP! I have a question:

What if the base note in the Interval part is on the line? Will the whole thing change? example the 2nd interval will be on a space and not in a line?

and what if the interval starts on the upper side goind down, is it still interval?

  • COME ON!!! you've been explaining piano and forte for like 3 minutes

  • I really enjoy your videos however in this one I believe you spelled moderately wrong..

  • You're so quirky! xD I wish you lived closer so you could be my actual teacher. Not that I don't like my teacher, but you're hilarious.

  • It's like a criminal who can't escape jail but can wander around in its cell...unless you shoot it dead.

Lol, this guy definitely does this videos REALLY late at night.

  • you're driving me mad :)

    thank u for everything.

i hope to meet you in person :D

  • Thumbs up if your study habits got better so you don't stop the video every time!!!!

  • i love you

  • nothing more to say but I LOVE YOU ANDREW.....thank you sooo much...:)

  • I'm 32, and thought it would be really hard for me to pick up the piano. I watch each video until I have it down, so it's been about one video per week. I supliment not having a teacher here by using Piano for Dummies DVD with a Midi keyboard. I'm on week 7 (intervalic reading) and I am now able to play the first page of "The Entertainer", "November Rain", and "Sonata No.14 (Moonlight Sonata)" I am not going beyond the first page cause key signitures lose me, but wow. Thank you so very much!

  • Gratitude. Appreciation and more love and gratitude for you. Andrew, how does one say thank you? How will I be able to convey my feelings so you can really understand how grateful I am for you. There are many who are so grateful but dont have an account to express there thanks. Andrew, You are God sent. You are a special individual. What a valuable way to spend your time. in the service of others. I wish we could see the ripple affect you have created. Wouldnt that be amazing? Thanku!

  • holly hell on a cracker. the annotation said that this was kinda difficult and it would be okay to skip it. i being all (phht) i can do this it will just take some time. i pretty much understood everything what he said. i took notes and i am looking over them and i get it all. you must be a good teacher man. btw every time you said crescendo i thought of smooth criminal by mj and i had to FOCUS EVEN MORE. there was an opportunity for a joke in there, but i forgot it. hopefully that is all.

  • Only very intelligent persons are capable of combining science with a sense of humour - Andrew is one of them. I have fun while learning basic music theory (imagine!) - thanks to Andrew.

  • I think you should speak a little bit forte because I can't barely hear you Andrew, You're a nice teacher, but the only thing you should try to do is to speak a little bit louder :) just advising :P

  • @swordpetals actually piano is one of the easier instruments. it pretty much teaches you the notes for every single instrument in the world, so this is a great first instrument to learn.

    Andrew,

THIS IS AMAZING -- You are amazing. Spreading the gift of music without cost. Wow, this is truly out-of-the-box thinking. Congrats are due you for your generosity.

I am absolutely delighted with this magnificent and humble gesture. You, Andrew, are a rare and wonderful gift to the world of music. Thank you, so much, you have made my day.

    Liana...

  • @mividaesmusic you went all out with that comment, you thumbs up whore

  • Respond to this video... up early in the mowwnin, should be cookin breakfast or somethin. its dat wooot woooot

  • the moden piano came partly from an instrement called a ducima i think.

  • @bankjobBoB I thought it was a take on the harpsichord.

  • If I ever find the people who clicked on "dislike" for these sets of videos I will beat them to death with their own underwear. These videos are awesome, much appreciation Andrew for your time and effort!! You're great at explaining and teaching!

  • @TheVanillaChapstick..... another way to think about it is that the quater note can be the last note in a bar and the other one could be the first note in the other bar...depending on the timin of the piece (4 counts per var etc) there might not be enough space to put a half not in there. The tie would then help the fluidity of the piece....at least thats my take on it
