Oxalates are the chief element in kidney stones. The sour flavor of rhubarb is oxalic acid. I would not suggest eating rhubarb regularly.

My rhubarb always seems to go to seeds with few side shoots. I always cut off the seed heads. Should they be dug up and brocken apart? What kind of fertilizer should i use besides compost and manure?

Thanks for the advice.... I've just bought 3 plants, I can't wait to get a bit from them...

I was advised to mix in bone meal with the compost and soil infill.
