  • haha I'm glad you say that about washing your normal hair with dreads, people ALWAYS ask me how I wash my hair and I'm like... um normally thanks. I just need a crochet hook cause I haven't crocheted them in foreverrr they're probably really bad under all my thread. BUT I think they're pretty well locked for my first dreads:)

  • i just started my dread last night

  • this helped so much

  • And no one will be your friend anymore because you stink. XD

  • Haha her accent is so funny!

  • Made two proper dreads today using the twist and rip method, I love them and I'm so glad I did it but I didn't have the confidence to go for a full head just yet so this was really helpful :)

  • your freakn beautiful

  • I just made a skinny dread (like the size of my pinky) with the twist and rip and it's the same length as my normal hair D: its as tight as I could get it! will it still lock up and look good?

  • @SpiffyGinny Hey, I'm dreading my hair- they'll be 5 weeks tomorrow! I've read up a lot about them, and they WILL lock up over time and thicken! :)

I don't do anything to my dreads but wash them 2x a week. They'll start locking up over the next few (several....) months :)

  • why wouldnt it be normal hair

  • @khadija1001001 lol

  • I have one dread at the nape of my neck... it is starting to be a bit crap.. think i'll take it out and try againz.

  • Please make more videos! :)

  • What size are your ears stretched to? I just commented on another video but i thought i would comment on your latest one. Thanks! :-)

  • @Sean0182 theyre both 10mm :]

  • @xxzxczx Thanks for the reply!

  • wait so why'd u cut ur dreads again?

  • till yesterday i had few dreads on a head like you now ... but seen the other video how to make them of yours ... really good tutorial btw .. now after a sleepless night and quite busy morning my head is full of fat teddies :)), i even made one in half sleep - and even gave names some of them - your too cool and true inspiration, and cute too!

  • Like u used to have a lot of them

  • What happened to all the other dreads?

  • They look lovely :]

  • how did you do the one at the back so good? i tried it and failed...

  • how many mm's are your ears stretched to?

  • I've just decided to get back to my hair after nearly 7yrs of having dreads...I'm going to brush them out,it will take me probably few days and I wonder if I would cry like you:// and then starting having dreads here and there again??? I still love them but I had enough, can't even imagine how it is to have hair;)

  • dreads rule ! soon i will have mine too.

  • Do you have Facebook haha you are so interesting. We need more ppl like you in the u.s

  • My name is Thomas and the end freaked me out...

  • OOOO!!! and how did you take out all your dreads? did you cut it? or did you brush them and condition them and brush them to get them out?

  • I wanna put one dread behind my ears. you know..one dread on each side? would that look nice or no? Someone please respond(:

  • @nadiarox100 I have that, I have one on each side to hang down when my hair is down with beads, and one on top of my part with beads. If no, brush them out (:

  • I love your videos c:

  • Nice

  • You are so friggin cute..

  • i had to redo my single dreads. i couldnt fix the loops they were getting worse and combining with my loose hair above them. i had them on my left side. however i have redone one so far and i stuck a wooden bad at the base/ nap of head and the works so great to keep it apart from the rest of my hair. before i use a hair tie..soft squishy thing but it kinked it too much. it look so much better and stuff! thanks for that tip!

  • So weird! I have just 3 dreads for now quite literally thought the same as you and they are my bottom layer of hair the same as yours :)

One of the dreads I have refuses to stay locked up near the root (they are quite new, probably just over a month) it just unlocks when I wash my hair, is there anything you would recommend to do to get the root to start staying locked up? :) I would really appreciate it if you did! Thanks, a great video :) x

  • How often do you bleach your hair? Do you do it regularly? I loved it when you had your white blonde hair!

  • Your eyes look so pretty with your makeup :)

  • I love having a baby dread hiding in my hair (:

  • Just to let you know... you've definitely inspired my to try this, I'm gonna put four under my hair next week :) Love yours by the way! J x

  • I have one dread on the upper left side towards the back, I have a bead on the bottom and i wrapped a bit on the top a few months ago, but anyway, how do you measure your dreads for beads?

  • i vvanna fuck u baby

  • @Acelera89 Wtf....

  • @MyLoveBreeze --- hey pussy dont talk to me, i vvasnt talkin to u hoe

  • @Acelera89 Calm down and go troll somewhere else...

  • @Acelera89 lmao.

  • I wish i'd used a rubber band because i did it on the top of my head and there's shitloads of random other hair getting caught up in it. AAAAH!

  • When you had your dreads, you really remind me of Mary-Kate Olsen in the movie "The Wackness". It's uber cool :)

  • Wouldn't you like a full head of dreads again?

  • glad to see you are making dread videos again. it was the main reason i subscribed to your channel.

  • @izac22183 Dude it just pisses me off that she would make a video without even washing the dang things? She can be her own person or whatever but her own person with clean hair (!)

  • best thing someone said to me when i said i dont use shampoo is they assumed i didn't wash my hair ... i was like noooo ... i use soap to wash my hair ... they didnt say anything and gave me the weirdest look .... PRICELESS

  • I share your point about washing the single dreads. (i used to have overall-dreads for 3 years, cutted them and now...3 years later i have one single baby-dread again since 5 months :D). There's absolutley NO problem with washing the dread, Only thing is: I have to use conditioner for my hair-ends - they are quite damaged. Just clip the dreaded part apart from the normal hair while leaving the conditioner in and washing out the ends. And that's it. Good video Harriet, very helpful. :))

  • i didn't look at your video, i was listening to your accent all time and i am in heaven now!

  • "And no one will be your friend anymore, uhhm, cause you stink, basically." holy shit you're hilarious lol

  • If you haven't had an urge to thread them through your ear stretchers then you're not human

  • @Udooqi dont bother watching her videos then if your gonna call peeps a dirty hippie just coz they want to be there own person.

  • Hey Thomas!

  • sex

  • Yay :D ! This is realy useful for me because I want to make only one dread on my neck , and I was asking myself a lot of questions that you just answered ! thanks so much , your videos are very cool , and useful for everyone I think :)

  • @kunhaja , pourquoi tu viens coller un sal commentaire comme ca qui sert a rien au milieu de tout ?

Ce qu'elle raconte est tres interessant .

Si tu vx pas l'entendre tu stop la video ;)

    Peace.

  • @MeyieJah Pardon.

  • My problem is the conditioner runoff from my normal hair makes my lil random dreadies loosen up, but they get there slowly anyways.

  • @BlueeDinoo whatever method you use the hair will keep loosening and tightening over the first few months until it locks up, just give it time and patience.

And ffs how many times does Harriet need to say she's not getting her dreads back?! Get over it as she's gorgeous anyway, regardless of dreads or no dreads x

  • I've got eight dreads in my top layer. (I have very thick *long* hair) I usually don't have many problems washing, I just pile them in a bun on the top of my head, wash and condition the bottom layer as I would usually, and then take out the bun, and wash the top and middle with dread shampoo. I will say though, that it's hard, because the top layer as the dreads have matured over a year and a half, have gotten very heavy, and there's a lot of loose hair.

  • i made three dreads on the side of my head for about 4 months...it was super difficult to try to brush around as well as washing so i took them out :( waiting til i get enough courage to just dread the whole dead.

  • @Ailensinvadethe970 head!!!!!*

  • @xxzxczx , why dnt yu want dreads anymore? i personally thought yu were absolutely gorgeous with them. :)

  • You did a inch by inch block for the dread :)

  • I don't know if this is a good idea, it worked to me though... As soon as you get your dreads on stop washing your hair for two days straight and in those two days palm roll them to make them strong... Then when you wash your hair them won't make weak! xD As I said it worked for me.

  • I was thinking about getting a single dread on the back of my neck just to see how difficult it is to maintain. Is it difficult to adjust to or is it pretty simple as far as maintenance goes? My hair is fairly long (almost reaches my bellybutton) and pretty straight/wavy but tends to knot up on its own fairly easily so I thought "hey, why don't I just get dreads" but not quite a full head though. Your videos have been very helpful because I knew nothing about making dreads before so thanks! :)

  • You really look like Scarlett Johansson! :O

  • did anyone else hear her say "Hey Thomas" at the end... or was it just me??

  • this is just like my hair (: i started dreading from the bottom up, and i now have 27 dreads with a shorter layer of undreaded hair on top (:

  • dont you miss your dreads? they were sick!

  • I have a head full of dreads except for the front... fringe or bangs section I guess lol. I condition my hair once a week so they wont dry out to much. It all really depends on how you want them to look. I love they way yours look BTW lol. Mine are a bit messy and I like them like that. I do get questioned about how I am going to feel when I have to cut my hair off lol... I get funny looks when I tell them I wont have to cut my hair ^_^

  • Thank you thank you thank you!!

I was so scared about washing my hair with my one dread but this video made it all better lol I love how honest you are too!

  • lol 'cause itll be fucking grimey and itll stink and no one will want to be your friend anymore cause you stink' idk why but that made my day...x)

  • its so shakey,

  • Right on fight the power :D

  • i really want to get one or two dread in my lowest layer of hair; but i like to curl/straighten my hair sometimes and i'm kinda afraid of how it will look like after i'd do that.

  • @LanaHasumy I myself have two dreads on my lowest layer and I've had them for about 5 months. They do kinda get in the way of doing some hair styles(like braids) but depending on how the rest of your hair is they will stay hidden under straightened/curled hair.

  • I had some ( like 4 or so ) at the same place like you have. While brushing my hair it was kind of anoying but if you hold up your other hair it works.

Think I'll get some, when my hair ist long enough to try it again.

  • i love this video :) i only have a handful of dreads on the back (underside) of my hair as well for employment purposes because (like you said) they're soooo easliy hidden in ponytails and buns. mine are almost 4months old and i love love love them :D I found that during the winter months, wearing a winter hat and letting the dreads hang free look super cute :)

  • it must have been hard for you... not to get rid of them.. but like after you got rid of them?, in my case ive had dreads for a while then i missed what my natural hair looked like so i removed them ( brushed them out + ouchhh :/ lol) i had like 5 or 6 of them.. but still, for a couple of days i was happy but now i want them backkkk ! :B btw love how you say "fucking idiot'' lol

  • i have a question

i've started dreads in the same area as you but mine don't lock up, they start to un-knot and fall out. i've tried back combing and twist and rip, they both do the same. what should i do?

  • I miss your dreads. :( You were my inspiration to get dreads.

  • Harriet get your dreads back pleaaassee <3

  • you really remind me of Michelle Trachtenberg....just sayin

  • what size are your tunnels?

  • I know people say " whenever you need it" but how often is good to do maintenance on dreads? Mostly on roots .

  • @RadicallyEvil You don't need maintenance at all. Just time and patience. Crochet hooks and all that will damage your locks. It's best to just let your hair do what it wants to.

  • @mattzcoolathanu yeah I never do matenance on the locks themselves, just the roots, because my hair naturally grows straight and really soft (even without conditing it for a year)..and I dont want to havea dreadlock on the end of a lump of hair..

  • Yay another dread video!!! It's great you kept a few of them =) Don't you ever feel just a LITTLE itchy to get them all back? =P

  • i have this magical padawan dread about .75cm wide. the top is great but how do you maintain a tip? I always do maintenance on it with a crochet hook but I can never get a nice round tip. Suggestions?

  • yayyyy you still have a few dreads =) that makes me happy

  • Cool vid! I have one baby dread behind my right ear, for two months now, and I also just wash it. I don't do anything special with it. Just like you say :)

  • I also had a single dread and i loved it :) But when my mum saw it she fraked and told me to brush it out. But I already decided that when I'm 18 and my hair will grow longer I'll have my whole head dreaded. :) I caaan't wait.

  • Thankyou for making this vid

  • yay this is so funny last year when i had to take mine out to find work you took yours out and now i have mine since november and youve got yours back too :D :D

  • love it. have one myself at the back but its not the most attractive haha, i think i just need a crochet hook to it. buuut im too lazy to go out and buy one so is there any other method rather then the hook? :D

  • @lulu66

you can palmroll them...it will take time, but you don´t need a crochet hook ;)

  • @tillolmo yeah ive tried that but dont you have to keep doin that. haha im to lazy to have dreads :P awh no ill have to pick up a hook... just been puttin it off for ages. this is why im not in uni!! hehe

  • another great place for a single dread is right behind your ear :D

  • I have two baby dreads in a similar place to yours. I wash them as normal and use conditioner on them which doesn't cause them to unravel. I also let them do their own thing and pretty much forget they're there..they've begun to shrink and become all wavy and kinky :D

  • yay!

  • Great advice! Ive just finished doing my friends dreads and was thinking of doing my own but only really wanted a random one since i have an office job. This is perfect thanks so much xxx

  • I had my first four dreadlocks exactly where you have yours, and after a few months my friend'd dreaded other hair,it's almost three years since I have them.anyway, yours look cool)

  • Your getting your dreads back!!!! Yesssssss :')

  • @AjMigg no im definately not, ive just had these 3 for months, and will continue to only keep these 3 :]

  • @xxzxczx I like the way they just made a massive assumption because you have 3!

  • @xxzxczx fuuuuuuuuuuuck :'(
