Man this piece of music really can calm the souls of some of the most harden hearts. John Barry & Ennio Morricone was & is the best @ grabbing what ever emotions you was try'n to hang on to, & making them just tremmble inside you. I thought I was a hard S.O.B, but these two Master of Emotions sure soften an old buzzard like me up a bit. It seem's like nothing else matters @ that time when you hear music that is just so beautiful. How can you not love this?

How can any human being be so gifted that they can write music that evokes such feelings, especially those feelings of a lost love like in this film, in Out of Africa and even Midnight Cowboy where Jon Voight's charactor loses his friend Ratso (Dustin Hoffman). John Barry should be knighted.
@hollywilliam1010 I agree that he should be knighted. I have a feeling some aspects of his personal life may have interfered with that. Apparently he left England and moved to Spain once to escape taxes, and from there, he moved to the U.S. Also, he has had four marriagfes and some kids out of wedlock. England is kind of stuffy that way and so perhapos that's why the queen has not knighted him. Besides, with five oscars and numerous other awards, who needs knighthood? His genius is known.

@candlepeace I'm sorry for your loss. This year so far i've lost my dog that i had for 10 years and my Grandad who, although i only knew him off and on throughout my life, played a more pre-dominate role.
Don't know if your the same, but i was more sad when they were alive and ill, the same person i knew of them no longer in existence due to the illnesses they had (dog had cancer and had to be put down. Grandad liked his drink and had damaged his liver, he died of a Intestine Haemoragh)

Haunting melody as are all of John Barry's compositions. I saw this movie when it first came out and while the movie itself was OK, I simply HAD to have this soundtrack. Sometimes, late at night, in the summer, I will go out for a drive and this CD is what I have playing. Anyone who has loved and lost that love, cannot help but be moved by this piece.
I can't say I respected the picture on the soundtrack, but I can definitely vouch for throwing myself down at the feet (if their were any) of that music. It's passionate, timeless, and sounds like a sob story sort of movie. Not that I like crying . . .
Strange and funny how having "everything", seems unattainable. Yet within two hearts, a sacred place exisits. A glance, a whisper, a gentle touch--genuine and loving, where having everything......is within us.
Sad is happy for deep people...well Mr Barry, your music makes me most sad but very happy.

i remember i was listening to this song all the day and night when my fiance was dying in the hospital of cancer, .. she died last year, and am still listening to this music day and night everyday since the day she died. it makes my heart bleed, but still it make me live on the memory.

@candlepeace I'm sorry for your loss. This year so far i've lost my dog that i had for 10 years and my Grandad who, although i only knew him off and on throughout my life, played a more pre-dominate role.
Don't know if your the same, but i was more sad when they were alive and ill, the same person i knew of them no longer in existence due to the illnesses they had (dog had cancer and had to be put down. Grandad liked his drink and had damaged his liver, he died of a Intestine Haemoragh)

I try not to listen to it often, not on sundays... but today I came to listent to it several times... it's hard... please, don't do this to you often, just when it is necessary to let tears roll to relief your pain... otherwise you will never let go... never heal... let your scars dry and fall naturally... love heals...

Another beautiful composition from the Composer, John Barry. He has written so many beautiful haunting pieces, my favorite being "Somewhere in Time". but this is also quite beautiful. His music makes the listener really contemplate feelsings regarding relationships in their life, past and present. He surely has left a legacy of his music to be appreciated by all for eternity Thanks for posting this piece to be enjoyed by many. :)

Haunting melody as are all of John Barry's compositions. I saw this movie when it first came out and while the movie itself was OK, I simply HAD to have this soundtrack. Sometimes, late at night, in the summer, I will go out for a drive and this CD is what I have playing. Anyone who has loved and lost that love, cannot help but be moved by this piece.

I can't say I respected the picture on the soundtrack, but I can definitely vouch for throwing myself down at the feet (if their were any) of that music. It's passionate, timeless, and sounds like a sob story sort of movie. Not that I like crying . . .
