Jesus, no wonder no one in our country can agree on anything. A rat falling off a doorknob sends us to each other's throats. Fuckin A people...earn to prioritize...
guys stop shitting yourselves, the rat is absolutely fine they fall off stuff like this *all the time* the rat is absolutely fine. once i was walking arond the house with my boy splinter on my shoulder and he jumped straight off! other than being a bit surprised he was totally absolutely fine, theyre even more agile than cats when it comes to stuff like this, trust me other than a bruised ego this rat is fine!!
People, rats are durable and tough. I talked to my vet about falls in fact, you know what he told me? Rats are tough. Rats fall from heights that you think would hurt them and walk away without injury. A owner should be more concerned about crush injuries (stepping or sitting on your rat, for example) rather than a fall from a door knob.
Rats are very good at jumping and landing, my rat managed to jump off my shoulder (roughly a metre from the ground) and landed perfectly and very safe. It was the first time he had actually jumped and I realised calling him Ezio was probably a bad idea
Guys, calm down, the rat was ok, but as inuxlove530 said, they should've just prevented it more, you can't just call them bad pet owners because of it.
You people are complete idiots. A rat can jump from a 2nd storey window and land just fine, without injury. Mine spends literally hours a day jumping/falling from my bed (a 5-6 ft fall) and running around a little before doing it again, and has never shown the slightest sign of pain or injury. Do some research before calling people monsters.
@xxUltimateAnimexx Have you ever owned a rat? They may be small but they're tough and durable. A small fall like that isn't going to injure them, my rats have fallen from higher places and have walked away without so much as a limp.
Come sth like this happens when you have animals or children...no one can be perfect, everybody has to learn and rats are clever! A rat wouldn' do this again.
Weasel: ROTFL! about the comments on here, rats bonce so he is probably OK! rats need to be supervised but jumping and climbing is good for them and instinct would stop him it was too high!
I'm not laughing at his pain but at how smart he is for trying
Buttons: a miner fall is way better then sitting in you cage bored cuz no one will play with you! we need to get in to mischief that's why its called a mischief of rats!
Misty: he choose to and had fun so it's NOT abuse!
Rats are surprisingly resilient little babies, and falls like that will do nothing more than bruise his ego - which he will more than make up for once he gets over that.
Give him a week and he'll be opening any door he wants ;) hehehe
He wants to open THAT door - LOL !!! Rats will be rats ... cute, mishevious, funny, devious, hillarious ... traits rolled into one magnificent personality ! RATS ROCK !!!!
every1 who bitching over his little fall just stop it... i have 6 rats (have had 12 totals) and 1 of my cages is around this height (door knob to the floor) and i have a nice little top floor and im not getting suprised to see a rat jump right out from it and land softly and safely on the ground (ofc i have better way to walk down) but they seems to like flying more :D accept 1 that dont dare to do it XD hes adorable when hes looking down after his sister and then walks around everything :D
I think he would have to fall the in just the right (wrong) way and flip himself right before hitting the floor (extra torque) for him to break anything. Otherwise I don't see how that could be more dangerous than an adult human falling from the height of a door knob. Sure, if you fall from that height enough times in different positions you'll likely be injured but, this was just one "incident" where he flopped to the floor. So, chill. People die every day. Today, a rat fell off a knob. Lol.
@DaveWreckingCrew Actually, probably less than a human, since they weigh so little. I once had a hamster go flying through the air and land unprepared on his little butt... and he was just confused.
I am sure this rat gets all kinds of love, but the video made me wince a little when the rattie fell. If it were my rat i would have freaked. I had a rat fall off of a bathroom countertop and break his leg, the stress was too much and he soon passed. Baby rats can handle a fall like that but may not be good for adult rats...Im just sayin! And to RoscoTheRat:A human can also survive a 3 story fall but that doesnt mean go out and test it! Maybe it was only funny the first time.
yeah there are alot of dumbass people in the world. people dont think of all the things rats do in the wild. i just got 2 rats and there probably some of the best animals ive ever owned
People in America think that we should live in a bubble. Because being "safe" is all that matters. I think enjoying life is all that matters. Sure, he could get hurt doing that, but it beats being bored in a cage all day. In fact that looks like fun. I'd rather die doing something fun, than rot away being "safe".
I really don't understand why there are so many dislikes, it shows that this rat is adventurous. Also, rats are very observant and they do not do things impulsively. They tend to look around and make sure they understand what they are jumping towards before they jump. Clearly this rat knew that the jump/fall would not harm him if he attempted it. And it wasn't. He probably most likely has observed it for longer periods before the video itself was shot. My very own rats do similar things as well
wow what a biggie! I love big cuddly rats. I breed them, I have two massive bucks, two young bucks from my last litter, one young female and two mums at the mo. I have some rat vids up, not self promiting, just saying for those of you who like rats :)
I'm glad the rat is alright, but his owners could have been a little more careful and at least tried to prevent him from falling instead of just video taping and laughing.
@ItchyGuy87 Depends on how they fall. They still can break their necks.. Or what my rat got, she got in a shock. She's still sometimes in shock because the veterinarian let her fall 2 weeks ago.
guys, im 5 foot 10 and i had my hamster on my head and it fell, it just shook its head and kept going on with retarded daily routine, hamsters are more fragile that rats
@sonsielass1 Clearly you don't know anything about rats. I currently own 3 of them and they are incredibly curious, adventurous and limber. They can fall up to 50 or 60 feet and be perfectly okay. While yes, he probably shouldn't have let his rat do that, they know their limits and won't push them.
I had a healthy pet rat that took a much shorter fall in her own cage and she broke her neck. She was in considerable pain and had to be put to sleep. Don't think that they are invincible because It is possible for a 12 inch fall to be fatal.
@TitoSkt2 You clearly don't know what your talking about. That rat was fine, even after such a fall. I've owned rats for years, and have had several fall like that while playing, and they were all fine.
I've had 5 rats and I know this is normal for them. They try to open doors or otherwise escape their cage or the room they're in all the time. It's not cruelty, why all the dislikes?
@twiston123 The reason for all the dislikes is because as pet owners, it is our job to keep our pets safe. This was a very dangerous situation they allowed the rat to be in. I've owned rats too and you have to watch them very closely, they are so curious and adventurous, you have to be careful, they could really hurt themselves.
I had rats too, and they had a really big cage. it was like 1,80m high. They had boards where they could sleep and watch my room and anything they want. They fell off very often and dindn't hurt themselves.
my rats LOVE climbing and jumping off high stuff. ive seen them voluntarily make a 5 foot jump and they r fine! they love it when i toss them in the air too! its fun for them. it just how they explore the world.
@tmc115 Totally agree my rats jump from random place and i find them in draws and allsorts. They know what they are doing and they can judge distance. people are just ignorant to the fact that rats are FUCKING AMAZING!!!
The Rat is fine. I have two and they love to jump off stuff and they hop right up and run into my lap, giving me kisses and begging for treats. If they are hurt they squeak loud and let you know they are hurt or need help.
I find that rather sweet. If the rat was worried or hurt, she would have squeeked or not try to make that jump. I have rats that will try to find me and if they were not afraid, they might attempt to do that same jump.
@mysticalcancer My rats do the same thing! I have to be careful that they are in the cage when I leave my room, or they would follow me and wind up lunch for the cat.
You guys shouldn't worry about a rat jumping from that height. Mine used to willingly jump off the top of his cage (about four feet up), run across the room and jump on the sofa next to me, and he was fine.
You guys need to chill out. There are people out there who purposely torture animals for fun, fight them, etc. I'm sure rats in the wild fall off shit all the time, rats seem like pretty durable animals. If you left a rat in a room alone for 5 minutes, it'd probably fall off 10 different things.
having a pet means taking responsibility for it by supervising it to not get lost or in trouble! take care of the creature dont allow it to come in contact with certain situations like this. its obviously not serious but anything could happen.
@PhantasyStardumb It's either "obviously not serious" or it's "dangerous". You can't have it both ways. This rat was in no danger. Learn what you're talking about before going off on a self-righteous soap-box rant, as you clearly know nothing about the situation in question.
Come on people. You're being a bit melodramatic. My little Cid gets himself into this kind of trouble all the time. Rats have evolved to endure this kind of thing. This guy didn't make his rat do it. The mischievous little bastard did it himself :)
@DirtieLaundry of course he didnt MAKE him do it, but he LET him when he knew what was going to happen. if anything ur a bastard for siding with this retard. its like if u have a curious little kid who doesnt know wat a chainsaw is... oh no its been magically turned on ooohhh.... nope.
Rats can jump pretty far, if the rat actually broke something or hurt itself you wouldn't see it looking around the way it did after it fell. I've had a few rats actually jump off my bed or our couch. They will not jump off of something they think is too high for them.
OMG All you ppl are worrying about 'That's Animal Cruelty" "Your so cruel" "go and die! Poor rat!" Listen, I don't own a rat, but I'm smart enough to know that the rat is OK. Rats are always jumping off high distances and have no harm. So you ignorant ppl can back off.
Clearly, most of these people commenting have never owned rats. I've owned three rats, as as a few other people said, they're the powerhouses of small animals. That rat is clearly fine and sustained no damage form his little venture. It's ignorant to insult the owner when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about on the subject of 'animal cruelty'.
@MonsterrxMaiden I own three rats too, and know that even if this little fellow ended up fine, it can be dangerous for them to fall from this height. I am part of a specialized rat forum, and I've read many stories about owners or breeders that lost some of their rats in such a manner. Just recently one of them breeders lost one because her rat fell down her bed, and landed in a bad way... I'm not saying this is animal cruelty, but you have to be careful.
@MonsterrxMaiden you can fall off a clift and land on soft snow. you may not sustain any injury doesn't mean you should do it. i have seen rats die falling off from that height.
I'm pretty sure the rats not hurt, nor traumatized nor anything bad. Rats learn their limits by testing them and sometimes go over the limit. Then, they learn they can't do it. My rats have fallen farther than that once or twice and were a little shaken up, but nothing to worry about. Rats are very light and can fall very far without sustaining damage. Also, like cats, they can twist their bodies in mid-air to land on their feet.
Chill out people. It's the rat's own damn fault, anyway.
I hope to god he/she is ok... but i couldnt help but laugh at the way he jumped, until i realised some dip-shit wasnt going to catch it, or had even set up some form of safety "net" for it to fall onto. ......
LOL! So cute!! And everybody else, trust me. Rats may be small but they are very tough little creatures. If the rat had felt any real pain it would have squealed. They can be very loud when they want to be..
I had a pet rat, it can really take a fall like that. The ammount of times I put my rat on my desk which is just as high as that, and he jumped off of it wanting to be on the ground, is about 50 at least. He was a prefect rat, nothing was wrong with him after that. By the way, rat's are curious creatures, if there's something to do they will try, and if it hurts, they will squeal, if it scared them, they won't do it again.
Stop comparing rats to people. They're smaller, tougher, and weigh a lot less. Look at a door knob right now. It's like a meter or less off the floor. And stop talking about "forcing" the person or "forcing" the rat. The rat jumped to see if he could do it. Just out of curiosity. He knew he would have to fall and he knew how far but decided he could take it and he DID take it. Jesus u ppl r uptight. The rats playing. The guy didn't push the rat off and he didn't drop the rat. It jumped.
This is AWFUL!!! It is a horrible shame that you need to find your amusement at the expense of a rat that is doing what you asked it to do...INHUMANE! Don't care if they can land on their feet or not, let's let you fall to the ground and if don't break anything I guess it is okay, even if it hurt! You shouldn't own anything living!
Better to spoil a rat than to assume it can jump from a five story building without getting hurt! XD Anyway I'm done now... no use of trying to argue with you. I however suggest that if you don't want people to respond to your posts, don't write such provocative ones.
THE RAT WAS PLAYING AND FELL WHEN HE TRYED TO JUMP ON SOMETHING,.. HOW IS THAT BEING A POOR OWNER..??? OMG...I BET NONE OF YOU HAVE PET RATS.. AND IF YOU KNEW SOMETHING ABOUT THEM YOU WOULDN;T SAY THAT CRAP.... GOD...
@wendyXpeggyXpancho i live with a couple of squishi tushied ratties atm, and have rehomed rats in the past. who ever looks after these rats shouldn't be laughing when there rat falls from that hight, i mean scale it up to you. if the rat was ur size that would be like falling off a house and landing on cocktail stick legs... rats arn't toys, there animals like me and you, and they can feel pain and have to suffer with it... if you still dont get it, you will when you break a bone.
@wendyXpeggyXpancho In fact I DO own rats and BECAUSE I know them well, I know that this video isn't funny at all. Falling from this height for a rat may well mean a broken leg or worse. If you care about your pet rats, you won't encourage them to jump on a slippery door knob...
@wendyXpeggyXpancho Yeah if my friend tried to jump from the second storey of a building (the equivalent for this rat) and didn't get hurt, I'd still be worried! Wouldn't YOU? And I wouldn't encourage him to do it either...
@wendyXpeggyXpancho I'm not trying to fight with you... Reading what kind of comments you post, it's obvious that it's a waste of time. But I wonder: what kind of person who supposedly knows rats would say that they can jump off a 5 storey building without getting hurt??? Get some info. I pity your pets...
@kraenieldamage I suggest that you go on a forum of rat breeder and owners. I would suggest two good ones, but unfortunately they're in french. Ask anybody who breeds and raises rats if it's dangerous or not for them to fall from a height of fifty feet, they'll all answer yes. Your information is probably based on a study with wild rats, which are way more resistant than our pet rats, who have been inbreeded and are way more fragile.
@kraenieldamage I however don't argue that they possibly could fall off 50 feet uninjured, but that won't be all the time and it's still dangerous... It's like cats: some of them can fall from a 7th story without getting hurt, and some others will afterwards suffer from various troubles in their legs and paws. Anyways, I would like to get the link of the page where you got this info, please!

I find that rather sweet. If the rat was worried or hurt, she would have squeeked or not try to make that jump. I have rats that will try to find me and if they were not afraid, they might attempt to do that same jump.
mysticalcancer 11 months ago
@mysticalcancer My rats do the same thing! I have to be careful that they are in the cage when I leave my room, or they would follow me and wind up lunch for the cat.

You guys shouldn't worry about a rat jumping from that height. Mine used to willingly jump off the top of his cage (about four feet up), run across the room and jump on the sofa next to me, and he was fine.

You guys need to chill out. There are people out there who purposely torture animals for fun, fight them, etc. I'm sure rats in the wild fall off shit all the time, rats seem like pretty durable animals. If you left a rat in a room alone for 5 minutes, it'd probably fall off 10 different things.
willman808 1 year ago 3
having a pet means taking responsibility for it by supervising it to not get lost or in trouble! take care of the creature dont allow it to come in contact with certain situations like this. its obviously not serious but anything could happen.
PhantasyStardumb 1 year ago 8
@PhantasyStardumb It's either "obviously not serious" or it's "dangerous". You can't have it both ways. This rat was in no danger. Learn what you're talking about before going off on a self-righteous soap-box rant, as you clearly know nothing about the situation in question.
ZachariasLePuertre 7 months ago
@ZachariasLePuertre I never said it was dangerous Einstein.
PhantasyStardumb 7 months ago
Come on people. You're being a bit melodramatic. My little Cid gets himself into this kind of trouble all the time. Rats have evolved to endure this kind of thing. This guy didn't make his rat do it. The mischievous little bastard did it himself :)
DirtieLaundry 1 year ago
@DirtieLaundry of course he didnt MAKE him do it, but he LET him when he knew what was going to happen. if anything ur a bastard for siding with this retard. its like if u have a curious little kid who doesnt know wat a chainsaw is... oh no its been magically turned on ooohhh.... nope.

You should take the rat and put it down !!!not funny :(
Mrssunrise111 1 year ago
Rats can jump pretty far, if the rat actually broke something or hurt itself you wouldn't see it looking around the way it did after it fell. I've had a few rats actually jump off my bed or our couch. They will not jump off of something they think is too high for them.
uniquemommy1984 1 year ago
OMG All you ppl are worrying about 'That's Animal Cruelty" "Your so cruel" "go and die! Poor rat!" Listen, I don't own a rat, but I'm smart enough to know that the rat is OK. Rats are always jumping off high distances and have no harm. So you ignorant ppl can back off.

moneemayumi 1 year ago
Clearly, most of these people commenting have never owned rats. I've owned three rats, as as a few other people said, they're the powerhouses of small animals. That rat is clearly fine and sustained no damage form his little venture. It's ignorant to insult the owner when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about on the subject of 'animal cruelty'.
MonsterrxMaiden 1 year ago 75
@MonsterrxMaiden I own three rats too, and know that even if this little fellow ended up fine, it can be dangerous for them to fall from this height. I am part of a specialized rat forum, and I've read many stories about owners or breeders that lost some of their rats in such a manner. Just recently one of them breeders lost one because her rat fell down her bed, and landed in a bad way... I'm not saying this is animal cruelty, but you have to be careful.
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@MonsterrxMaiden you can fall off a clift and land on soft snow. you may not sustain any injury doesn't mean you should do it. i have seen rats die falling off from that height.

wikuska37 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure the rats not hurt, nor traumatized nor anything bad. Rats learn their limits by testing them and sometimes go over the limit. Then, they learn they can't do it. My rats have fallen farther than that once or twice and were a little shaken up, but nothing to worry about. Rats are very light and can fall very far without sustaining damage. Also, like cats, they can twist their bodies in mid-air to land on their feet.
Chill out people. It's the rat's own damn fault, anyway.

My rat jumped from her Play set into her old cage! We were saving it for the next rat we're getting.

seriously guys

GOD...
wendyXpeggyXpancho 1 year ago
@wendyXpeggyXpancho i live with a couple of squishi tushied ratties atm, and have rehomed rats in the past. who ever looks after these rats shouldn't be laughing when there rat falls from that hight, i mean scale it up to you. if the rat was ur size that would be like falling off a house and landing on cocktail stick legs... rats arn't toys, there animals like me and you, and they can feel pain and have to suffer with it... if you still dont get it, you will when you break a bone.
thevoicessaidso 1 year ago
@wendyXpeggyXpancho In fact I DO own rats and BECAUSE I know them well, I know that this video isn't funny at all. Falling from this height for a rat may well mean a broken leg or worse. If you care about your pet rats, you won't encourage them to jump on a slippery door knob...
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@kiwifou23, OMG..
THE RAT WAS PLAYING. It was being curious and fell. Wasn't on purpose.
For example;
If your friend falls, and isn't hurt, I think i would laugh, Wouldnt you?? -.-
wendyXpeggyXpancho 1 year ago
@wendyXpeggyXpancho Yeah if my friend tried to jump from the second storey of a building (the equivalent for this rat) and didn't get hurt, I'd still be worried! Wouldn't YOU? And I wouldn't encourage him to do it either...
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@kiwifou23, Dont try to fight with me.
Rats can fall off of 5 story building and be fine.
wendyXpeggyXpancho 1 year ago
@wendyXpeggyXpancho I'm not trying to fight with you... Reading what kind of comments you post, it's obvious that it's a waste of time. But I wonder: what kind of person who supposedly knows rats would say that they can jump off a 5 storey building without getting hurt??? Get some info. I pity your pets...
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@kiwifou23, You pity my pets?? Wtf?
They're rats. Not new bborn babies.
wendyXpeggyXpancho 1 year ago
@wendyXpeggyXpancho No, but they still require a minimum of knowledge on how to care for them, which obviously you don't have.
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@kiwifou23, I care for my rats fine.
I dont have knowledge..? you must spoil your rats.... The rat's fine. Stop bitching.
wendyXpeggyXpancho 1 year ago
@kiwifou23 I did the research, found that they could fall fifty feet uninjured. Care to rebuttal?
kraenieldamage 1 year ago
@kraenieldamage I suggest that you go on a forum of rat breeder and owners. I would suggest two good ones, but unfortunately they're in french. Ask anybody who breeds and raises rats if it's dangerous or not for them to fall from a height of fifty feet, they'll all answer yes. Your information is probably based on a study with wild rats, which are way more resistant than our pet rats, who have been inbreeded and are way more fragile.
kiwifou23 1 year ago
@kraenieldamage I however don't argue that they possibly could fall off 50 feet uninjured, but that won't be all the time and it's still dangerous... It's like cats: some of them can fall from a 7th story without getting hurt, and some others will afterwards suffer from various troubles in their legs and paws. Anyways, I would like to get the link of the page where you got this info, please!
kiwifou23 1 year ago
