Maybe they should go tour North Korea, I'll bet they might change their stupid tune.
@leftgibson Stop listening to the propaganda. These people are only against corruption, not corporations. Anybody who says otherwise is ignorant or lying.
people on the internet care more about these traffic jams than the people who were in the cars. Half of them were cheering us (especially the cab drivers).
@Occupy413 Some people have shit to do and can't stop their lives to bang drums in the streets. Surely you can understand having to provide for your family?.
@twelvehitcombo The protesters are there to fight for 10.5 million Americans who will never be given the right to provide for their families because there are only enough jobs available for 24% of all active seekers in this country.
Is it illegal to block a street with peaceful assembly? If so, NYC has a constitution problem. Last time I checked, the first amendment guarantees that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
@Occupy413 They blocking roads at night too homie. Portland Oregon where I live etc. Little brats that arnt getting what they want so they throw a fit.
@HalfLucky There are over 46 million US citizens living poverty whilst the banksters continue to award themselves obscene bonuses paid for by the bailouts from our taxes. Do you think we should let these corporate crooks away with it?
@terrapyn99 Everyone's responsible for themselves. If you're poor there's no one to blame but yourself. Bankers are in the private sector, government can't control how much they get paid. If a owner of a company wants to pay them millions of dollars that's there business.
@HalfLucky Are we 'the people' responsible for the bankster's losses? The government 's policies are bought and paid for by corporate interests. Is it any wonder we have privatized profits and socialized losses?
Some commercial airline pilots are on such a low salary that they have to claim food stamps! Should a dedicated individual who invests a great deal of time and money in becoming a qualified professional blame himself for being poor?
@terrapyn99 Community reinvestment act forced banks to give loans to risky people. We should of let the banks fail anyway. I have 2 relatives who are pilots who make bank. Just because someone spends a great deal of time and money learning a new skill doesn't mean they'll end up making a lot more than they would if they hadn't. I mean it'd be nice but it's not guaranteed.
@thegame6929 Many of the protesters do have jobs. I'm guessing you didn't know that there are 13.9 million active job-seekers competing for 3.4 million jobs. That means that everyone seeking employment in America has less than a 24% chance of ever getting it, regardless of how well they compete. That's why they're protesting. Every working American should support them, because under current conditions, they're not likely to ever work again if they're laid off.
This is starting to look more and more like Nazi Germany. I wont be surprised when the Government steps in and calls the protesters Terrorists, loads them up in train cars like cattle and sends them to Fema concentration camps. Is that what its going to take for us to stop living in a dreamworld and wakeup to the true nightmare we live in. To them its only shedding of blood to feed the greedy. Have we not fought Wars to fill the pockets of the Elite? Welcome to Babylon.
these OWS videos are just making the NYPD look bad. These men and women put their lives on the line everyday to keep the city safe. have respect for them. Funny that these videos always show the police "beating" someone but we never see in the video what that protestor was actually doing. I'm all for standing up for what you believe in and making changes, but these officers deserve respect also and they are just doing their job.
@sugarmagnolia710 The reason you don't see in the video what that protestor was doing is because usually they weren't doing anything - just being there. I think police have a very difficult job and generally don't get the respect they deserve, but in situations like this they are simply abusing their authority. In this case, beating an unarmed protestor who was already on the ground - not a threat.
@sugarmagnolia710 The protestors have been nothing but respectful to the police. There are several livestreams available if you want to see what protestors do. And if you watch the livestream, you'll see how much the people actually respect the police.
@sugarmagnolia710 I'd love to get paid to beat jaywalkers all day, but there aren't any openings for that job, thanks to the shit economy. The NYPD look bad by their own doing. The police have their own videographers who've failed to provide proof of their claims. These protests are the most non-commercially documented event in human history, and you're still demanding proof of a negative. Intelligent people believe what they see more than what they don't see. Be intelligent.

You don't have to be armed to be hit with a baton. If you're putting up a fight they can use them. So stop the bull shit sad story about how the NYPD is "beating inocent 'unarmed' protesters with batons." If they were armed guess what, they're not gonna be pulling a baton off their belt that's for sure. Thank you.
@dejourj In any other city on any other day, beating a jaywalker who has already been wrestled to the ground would cause a public outrage. The only difference is that this guy jaywalked while expressing discontent for his government.

@MantisBot That's what I've been saying! This is so shameful and honestly disgusting. It is our responsibility to rise up when our government has let us down. Shame on Bloomberg and his scumbag cronies. You cannot keep us down! This is our country. Proud to be part of the 99% today.
I was there. That loser Officer Wolf that attacked me with his baton is in this video. I'll never forget his face. He choked a young girl and dragged her by her scarf.
@homicidal1 yep, Cops have lost the plot, game is almost over. The day they took banned Bullhorns from the park was the day they lost the war. MIC CHECK...MIC CHECK...MIC CHECK
Were you the guy who Wolf hit, and smashed heads with another man? If you were, that was my brother, who redirected me to this video and told me about Wolf. He said you were in bad shape after he hit you.
@homicidal1 a possible tactic could be to locate his address and tell all his neighbors of his actions. Protest in front of his house even. That way cops will be discouraged from being so corrupt at these protests.
@thatoneguy12354 I'm so tired of everyone seeing one side of a video and slanting it anyway they want. In that video, you can't see what the cop is hitting with the baton. It looks violent for sure. But I have been at alot of these protests. First, the protesters are usually NOT nice to the cops as someone here said. Second, the only thing I've seen cops hit with their sticks is other protesters hands when they are trying to hold onto someone so they can't get arrested. Seems good to me.
Let me get this straight: NYPD doesn't want the protesters blocking the streets. Okay, understandable. They go on to beat and arrest the protesters to clear the streets... all so NYPD can continue to block/barricade the streets. Hmmmmm.....
And they don't want protesters beating drums at 2am to disturb local people, but then they come in to assault occupiers with mace, batons, and LRAD devices in the dead of night.
@TeenagePaparazzi And then the cops block the street. I consistently see cops standing on the sidewalks telling people "STOP STANDING ON THE SIDE WALKS." It's a lot like hitting a child and saying "WE DON'T HIT!"
I really think police officers-- not just NYPD-- have to be tested psychologically once a year to see if they are fit to "serve and protect." too many of them confuse their uniforms and nightsticks as a license to beat people senselessly. NYPD has handled this horribly. quite a banner year from them, isn't it?
@erving1231 That isn't the answer. What the cops did was wrong, but using violence against violence won't get you anywhere....and it won't help the cause.
I know. I protested against the war in Viet Nam.
I protested against the war in Iraq when Bush was president.
On the way to a Peace Rally, I was run off the road by a "good ol' boy" from Crawford, TX.
@erving1231 don't worry it's out of our hands, just let it flow in the right direction. It's ok, just have trust and faith. If you are backing the right team that is.
@erving1231 I believe that defining a problem is just as important as proposing a fix to that problem. Some of them have objectives and agendas, but part of the point is that it's a constant discussion of the issues there. Even if you don't agree with their movement, look at the disproportionately violent response of the NYPD. Would you feel the same way if these were civil rights protesters or woman's suffragists? What about seeing other country's police beat their people in the same ways?
@erving1231 You obviously haven't been paying attention. Their objective from the start has been to pressure corrupt Wall Street bankers to stop meddling in politics and raise awareness of the problems with the economy. Also, the last thing they need is a leader to co-opt this. The reason it's so powerful is that the people involved already agree on what to do without being told to do it, and that makes a powerful point as well as preventing biased media from claiming ulterior motives.
@Evee103 No breathing isn't classified as a crime until Nov 02 2017 with the passing of the Clean Air Enforcement act when in an effort to go green citizens mistake targeting the air pollution produced by burning fossil fuels, BPCorp and other major oil company's use their bought politicians and bought scientists to "prove" that the increasing number of people breathing is polluting the air more with c02 than they are. This is followed by a tax on the poor and mandatory re breathers law.
cause the criminal gang isn't allowed to dance so they take it out on others... entirely psychological behavior... see others having fun they can't have...
We will ALL "get what we deserve" while the banks get bailed out by the US government.

First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

@homicidal1 yep, Cops have lost the plot, game is almost over. The day they took banned Bullhorns from the park was the day they lost the war. MIC CHECK...MIC CHECK...MIC CHECK

@homicidal1, Hang in there, keep protesting for justice. Peace.
SpikeyJamez 3 months ago
@homicidal1
Were you the guy who Wolf hit, and smashed heads with another man? If you were, that was my brother, who redirected me to this video and told me about Wolf. He said you were in bad shape after he hit you.
fleskfan100 3 months ago
@homicidal1 that cop is a scum of the earth.
pong224 3 months ago
@homicidal1 a possible tactic could be to locate his address and tell all his neighbors of his actions. Protest in front of his house even. That way cops will be discouraged from being so corrupt at these protests.
thatoneguy12354 3 months ago

Hypocrisy: you're doing it right.

So I wonder if the Police would be so insistent on clearing the streets to my job if a hundreds of Billionaires were stopping traffic.....
sayburr 3 months ago
You guys were blocking the street, which isn't allowed, but it doesn't give the cops the right to beat the shit out of some kid.
TeenagePaparazzi 3 months ago
@TeenagePaparazzi And then the cops block the street. I consistently see cops standing on the sidewalks telling people "STOP STANDING ON THE SIDE WALKS." It's a lot like hitting a child and saying "WE DON'T HIT!"

@ganapper or the classic making someone hit them self repetitively and saying "Stop hitting yourself stop hitting yourself"

I really think police officers-- not just NYPD-- have to be tested psychologically once a year to see if they are fit to "serve and protect." too many of them confuse their uniforms and nightsticks as a license to beat people senselessly. NYPD has handled this horribly. quite a banner year from them, isn't it?

You cant sing and dance. That is illegal here in Saudi Arabia, I mean America...

somebody has to sabotage the NYPD HQ seriously
erving1231 3 months ago
@erving1231 That isn't the answer. What the cops did was wrong, but using violence against violence won't get you anywhere....and it won't help the cause.
I know. I protested against the war in Viet Nam.
I protested against the war in Iraq when Bush was president.
On the way to a Peace Rally, I was run off the road by a "good ol' boy" from Crawford, TX.
CaptKundalini 3 months ago
@CaptKundalini what the OWS needs are Objectives, a leader..
erving1231 3 months ago
@erving1231 don't worry it's out of our hands, just let it flow in the right direction. It's ok, just have trust and faith. If you are backing the right team that is.
darrenkis 3 months ago
@erving1231 I believe that defining a problem is just as important as proposing a fix to that problem. Some of them have objectives and agendas, but part of the point is that it's a constant discussion of the issues there. Even if you don't agree with their movement, look at the disproportionately violent response of the NYPD. Would you feel the same way if these were civil rights protesters or woman's suffragists? What about seeing other country's police beat their people in the same ways?
merlinthegray 3 months ago
@erving1231 I agree.
CaptKundalini 3 months ago
@erving1231 You obviously haven't been paying attention. Their objective from the start has been to pressure corrupt Wall Street bankers to stop meddling in politics and raise awareness of the problems with the economy. Also, the last thing they need is a leader to co-opt this. The reason it's so powerful is that the people involved already agree on what to do without being told to do it, and that makes a powerful point as well as preventing biased media from claiming ulterior motives.

Rougarou13 3 months ago
Wait wait, so now dancing is a crime too? Right. Breathing will be the next reason to get beaten and arrested.
Evee103 3 months ago
@Evee103 No breathing isn't classified as a crime until Nov 02 2017 with the passing of the Clean Air Enforcement act when in an effort to go green citizens mistake targeting the air pollution produced by burning fossil fuels, BPCorp and other major oil company's use their bought politicians and bought scientists to "prove" that the increasing number of people breathing is polluting the air more with c02 than they are. This is followed by a tax on the poor and mandatory re breathers law.
