@viro101 Ok expert, explain to me how this fight is super dangerous? Seeing as how I'm a professionally trained actor combatant who is trained to maintain the utmost safety of both my partner and I; I would like to hear from you how this fight is dangerous. 3,2,1, go.
@kidfromcanadia even if youre super trained.. bad things can happen.. my drama teacher nearly died because of a bad fall.. he had to tackle someone.. they practiced it for months and had the whole scene done perfectly, then one day the guy that got tackled fell and his knee was sticking out ever so slightly, which caused the tackler to have two solutions in the time that he was falling, break his ribcage and die, or break his arm.. he broke his arm badly.. and he has had ten years of training
@ijustwannabeHISsheep yes. I am aware of the dangers of what I do. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what your point is exactly. Yes, I am trained, that doesn't make me ignorant to the dangers of what I do. I've had my injuries despite months and months of training. I didn't say I am super human just because I'm a trained professional. Jackie Chan doesn't claim to be super human, and he's a billion times more trained than I am; so I'd never think I was invincible. But thanks for your concern.
Nice choreography, very impressive. If i may offer some advice however. try not to lean back so much it just makes you look very off balance. Also you footwork is a little sloppy in places. other than that pretty good.
I wouldn't sugarcoat it so much, but yeah, same means and different ends rather summarizes things.
Also, for the Canadian kid, maybe you should have changed the video title to something like "Theatrical Advanced Small Sword Fight." It's very misleading otherwise and you might not have had to been such a jerkface to a lot of stingy critics.
Btw, do you actually fence or just choreagraph? And get a video editor so you can make the next Pirates of the Carribean movie!
I wouldn't sugarcoat it so much, but yeah, same means and different ends rather summarizes things.

It's funny how some people hate theatrical sword fighting because of it's routine but 'real' sword fighting also requires the excessive use of routines. The ends are different but the means are the same.

@cacapoopyshire2010 you are clearly an uncultured genius who's never seen a "fight" on stage or in the movies. This is called STAGE COMBAT. What we do is FOR THE STAGE AND SCREEN! We're not actually looking to kill each other. But sometimes that's not clear to people who don't understand the difference between real life and pretend. That's ok. One day you'll grow up and figure it out. Good luck with life pal.
Very impressive display. Loved the use of the free hand, would like to see grappling/striking in order to give it a more "brawl" feel. A step above movies like 'The three musketteers"in any case
by the way this video is better than the one with music. Must hear the clash of steel ... and the vocalizations - heh. It's great as a rehearsal video.
I did not imagine small swords had that kind of reach. Very cool. I want a small sword - for stage use (just for play).
Reading earlier comments - I did not know the epee was supposed to be a small sword. Small swords have a particular guard design -two small'ish finger rings and a little plate guard and the blade is not triangular at all. I'm pretty sure I'm seeing small swords on the video -that's what I would want to get.
hahahaha you silly silly person. the whole point of STAGE COMBAT is to make sure that we portray violence without actually being violent and stabbing people. therefore, you sharpening your sword and "making mince (MEAT)" of me is contrary to the point we were trying to put across. you're silly, quite being silly!
@erkelens1990 How old are you, and how advanced is your case of asperger's syndrome. It's quite apparent you have it, based on your pathetic social skills.
The small sword or épée is the lighter of the fencing foils used in classical fencing, lighter than the rapier or the sabre, but not as light as the fleuret (foil proper), which is exclusively a sporting weapon used in olympic-type fencing.
In the choreographed type of stage fencing seen in this video, the épée de cour (the classical small sword) is used because it is the most "literary" and stage-worthy.
No. Classical fencing is a spontaneous sport, though closer in form to actual duelling than the olympic style which some people might say is hardly fencing at all. Classical fencing seeks to stay closer to the actual fencing of the sword-bearing age (Fourteenth to Nineteenth cenuiries.)
Stage-fencing is a choreographed, planned, mapped-out and rehearsed re-enactment of duelling. What you see in this video was thoroughly mapped out and rehearsed before they shot it. It's like a ballet.
Wow, AulicExclusiva you really know your stuff. That's great. I agree with everything that you've explained, thanks for that. And yes, this fight was meticulously choreographed, and rehearsed, and re-rehearsed. For every 10 seconds of this fight we rehearsed for at least 7 hours.
nice vid! Of course non of you would probably be alive after such stabs without proper medical attention, but who gives a s***t... this fight was really enjoyable ;)
this is high quality stage combat. Well done, guys.
