That's where you're confused, Flogas- electronic music and 64 or 128 Kbps lends themselves perfectly. It's not a very detailed genre- it's mostly beats and synth and filtered vocals.

No ATRTAP, you're the silly one. I'm a DJ too, and I wouldn't dream of using anything less than 128Kbps, and then only in an emergency. I can easily tell the difference between 64, 128, and 190 Kbps when played through my system. If I can tell, so can my audience. I buy my music over at masterbeat . com . . . . Maybe your tweeters are blown, or you have high-end hearing loss. I'd check that.

It wasn't a cheap shot. It was a serious comment. I'm not the only one here saying 64Kbps is poor quality, and AFAIK you're the only one saying it sounds fine.

Also, Kbps has nothing to do with power levels and everything to do with sound *quality*, which shouldn't change regardless of power levels.

BTW, are you meaning that you run a DJ service with an "under 50 watt" system? Wow. I'm running 420 watts, and that's much smaller than any others I've seen.

Oh, and as for electronic music, as you mentioned, there's synth and vocals, which can have a lot of high-end, especially synths. Low sampling rates can (and do) lose that high end clarity.

Drum and bass, well, possibly you could get away with 64s, as long as there's no ride or crash cymbals, but electronic music does have a lot of high end.

I *have* tried 64, as I said in my first post. I could instantly tell it sucked for sound quality, and still can tell.

320 sounds "G-O-O-D". Say it to yourself. ;-)

And I take my 420W system to every event. There's an easy solution for small venues: "turn it down". I never run it wide open. That's a way to kiss goodbye to amps, speakers, and your ears.

Not really. For "Coffee shops, wakes and house parties", maybe, but most mobile DJs (that I know) aren't doing those. I'm mostly doing events in arena's, large halls, or outdoor events. (Wedding receptions, dance parties, fundraisers, etc) Most mobile DJs are running 600W and up for those kind of events. Outdoors, with a big crowd, 400 Watts is not enough.
