lol I even teached myself how to play the opening of Grieg's Mountain king, but very slow and with quite some misstakes. But I figured out that I would not have many problems with being in tune. I do have the perfect pitch and so I know what to do with my left hand to get a g or an a or a f or a b…But I think I would need to get the right technics to enable moving around with my left hand very fast. I heard on youtube that If you use wrong technics you could get physical problems. Why? How?
I'm glad you liked it! It is "Elegia in Re" by Giovanni Bottesini played by Thomas Martin and the English Chamber Orchestra cond Andrew Litton. You can get most of Bottesini's music on Naxos recorded by Thomas Martin
@tommartinbass That was a truly beautiful performance and I will be buying that CD. I've also had the good fortune to try a couple of your basses recently (4/4 and Ruggieri) and really liked them. Must save up. . .
most people dont even know wat a double bass is wen u say double bass there thinking about a bass guitar or double bass drum or they dont even know wat a bass is
@sgparodys You're so right. As I use to tell all my friends why I do love this instrument so much and all the things you could do on a contrabass and the sound… and that I would spend the whole night playing it and if it could just be in my room already because I am going to get myself a double bass by summer 2011, finally. :D many of them appear like they have no clue about it. :D Some do not even know the difference between a Cello and a Double bass. :D
@FilmComposeRaHoppe thanks i know wen im playing gigs with my upright some people r like nice cello and barely know one knows how to play it basses are dying out and people rather play a guitar or cello because there light
@sgparodys Lol this week I did it. :D I saw that double bass standing in the corner of a class room of our school. First I was to shy but after I'd recognized that nobody cared I grabbed the bass and for about 5 hours or so I wouldn't stop playing even if I don't know how to play it at all.But the feeling's great and after quite a while I got an overview of the positions you have to press down the strings with your left hand to get a certain tone. :D I would never give away bass for cel. o ebass
@sgparodys It's good for "us" ( I am not a bassist at the moment but I am excited about having my first lessons soon). Imagine everybody played double bass. You would have to invent trams and underground trains of twice the length to store all the basses :D. :D Joke.
thanks again for the los caracoles tip in Barcelona, we love this video and the accompanying music. Hope all is well with you and we wish you, your wife and the horses a good 2010! From Frankie and Anne Marie x
