  • that was a rehearsal.... perhaps they were getting their marks sorted. not singing for the public?

  • No need to fear Castronovo's volume. His voice is rightly produced and his top blooms wonderfully in person.

  • My fear is that Castronovo lacks volume. What a pity would be!!!

  • I can't believe the once majestic San Francisco Opera is now spewing out productions like this. Awful. Then again, which company isn't today?

  • She doesn't look like she's about to die of consumption....

The rather small chorus is pretty inaudible.

  • Is she having another baby?

  • georgeous...castronovo always so elegant and artfull i cant wait to see what happens in the next few years with this lyric voice

  • brava!

  • Anything with Mr Castronovo in it works for me!

  • In regard to Netrebko's weight, the main part of the problem here is the costume designer. Whoever the designer was, he or she put Netrebko in just about the most unflattering costume possible: spaghetti straps, bare arms, white satin that is way too tight. All of these, emphasize the singer's weight gain. It would have been very easy to put her in costumes (in the correct period for the setting of this particular production) that would have disguised the fact that she had put on some weight.

  • Why rush back to sing when she is still overweight from childbirth and the voice is VERY badly placed? He is superb - although Alfredo is an ungrateful part in many ways.

  • FAAAT!

  • SHE HAD JUST HAD A BABY! Sining is difficult after that!

  • I like more in La Traviata that she did with Villazón on 2005... it was better.

  • is that the same anna? I saw her about 2 yrs ago in london, she was not that.... well, big.

    carles is handsome.

  • she litterally just had a baby when this production happened.

  • Too damn FAST!! They couldn't even get the intricate turns in. Where's the fire?!

  • Anna is great and great is tenor too. Brava to them both!

  • Anna !! Her voice is just miracle!! I saw this opera three times!!

  • wow anna is fat

  • She had just had a child during the time of this production :(

  • I am sorry people I was there. It was not a good singing from Anna. The only aria she did well was addio del pasato. And still nothing extra ordinary, just very well sung that is it. She f2cked up the sempre libera. She was pritty much boring in every aria there. Her acting was flawless and beautiful. She is an actress a verry good actress but a very so so singer.

  • Is she pregnant again? It looks like it.

  • I thought the same,she is pregnant ;)

  • No she had just had Tiago

  • I went to see this SF opera three times! Anna your voice is just a miracle!!I could find that Anna was enjoying singing Violetta! I love her voice, the way of singing and acts!!

  • Comment removed

  • Where's the sempre libera? Did she have it removed because it sucks?

  • Went to see her in SF. Myself being russian I have to say that sempre libera SUCKED big time!!! Sorry to all the fans of her looks, But one has to be just to a voice!!!

  • this is the fastest libiamo i've ever heard!!!

  • I saw this yesterday! It was amazing!!!

  • Where's the other video that was here on the other day?

  • was this a rehearsal? God that white dress looks awful on Anna! The tiara is also silly...whoever did the costumes for this should be fired.

  • Totally agree. She looks uncomfortable - the shoulder straps keep falling down and she's constantly kicking the train out of the way. She needs something more tailored and structured. Beautiful singing!

  • Well..... she just had a baby a few months ago and is still carrying some of the weight. But you are right, the costumes are all wrong as well as the setting of 1920's Paris. Saw this a few days ago and walked out after the 2nd act. The staging was too far fetched for my taste. But the singing was AMAZING.

  • Glad at least the singing was good, after all its what matters most right?

  • Yep you are right! Netrebko blew them all out of the water. It sounded like everyone else was playing it safe.

  • how odd this white dress... and music is too fast for the tenor I believe

  • Thanks for this video !!!
