  • Good thing I am over 16 so I can watch this video

  • roger federer back in the days,,,

  • 03-07 - can't take those years away from fed. Only if he played nadal more on the hard courts during that time and not just clay.

  • Djokovic uses wilson rackets now??

  • @ldog4life22 he DID up until 2009.

  • great quality video man!

  • @bennyjaminkourk thanks, but i didnt make this, it is one of the few videos i have left up which I have not made

  • those were d days of gr8 roger federer he was perfect invincible i miss those days of roger ruling over d others

  • Federer is so quick and swift on the court. Not the slightest hesitation in the shot making and no holding back to fire winners from both sides. Nowadays he looks sluggish and pace has dropped, confidence in backhand is longer there. Rarely hits the line shots, mostly cross courts and even so, you can see he's afraid to overhit his forehand.

  • wow, this can't be the same player i saw last week lose to nadal - not gun-shy at all

  • @mephatboi I missed that match but I recall seeing Federer and Nadal at Rolland Garros and the first time Nadal beat him in Wimbledon. I never get to excited to see them play as Federer doesn't hit through his shots as much, which is partially due to the extreme spin Nadal hits I think. Nadal also hits 90% to Federer's backhand which is a good tactic to win but as a fan I don't enjoy it as much.

  • 8:24 here you can see if you watch Federers body and head especially, nothing moves exept the arm and hand, that shows why some become athletes, they have great mobility and strengh! A SICK pass btw, so much power and controle with the wrist!

  • Fed did NOT make the final in '08 against Djoker, he lost in the semis.

  • whats happened to novaks serve since 08? i think his games actually declined

  • @AceGuitarR7 it was after a very long point in which he showed great defence on a break point to break back and get into the match. Its not like murray who does it on any point

  • lol throwing a fist and showing some emotion, especially when ur trying to break just to get back in the set is NOT unsportsmanlike conduct. It was a long, hard fought rally against the best player in the world....and the point being long and tough is part of the reason that he hit it into the net. Wasnt just luck. Ive seen Fed cheer dozens of times when his opponents make unforced errors AHAHA

  • @AceGuitarR7 It's called positive energy. These guys are professionals, they try everything in order to get the win. In tennis, you don't need to get positive energy only from winning shots... you can pump yourself up on other occasions as well.

  • @AceGuitarR7

I did not like that bad attitude and behaviour of Nole neither. But in this scene at 5:30 he is cheering coz he had fought so much in this point till he wins the point by Feds mishit.

Djokovic has improved and stablelized his game and he is much more focused. That is why Fed has to struggle now with him.

  • @ulizinho djoko is getting better but federer is almost 30.... thats why he is beating him.. federer is well past his prime. no way could djokovic even come close from the federer in "04","05", he was untouchable then. we compare the top players but most people seem to forget that federer is about 5 years older. and thats a big difference in professional tennis.

  • @AceGuitarR7 I disagree, Federer is a better player now than in 2004 and 2005. He just faces stiffer competition, You say Fed was a much better player then, then how do you explain this?

Fed lost to Nadal twice in 04/06 only beating him once in a 5 set match. Nadal is now around twice as good as he was then, he hits the ball harder, deeper, volleys better, serves better, but Nadal and Fed still play close matches, as close as they were. If fed was getting worse then how can they still be close?

  • @conziborg2 I would not say, that Fed cant play on the level of 04-06 anymore. It is both fiercer competition and aging of Fed, that makes it impossible to play on his top level throughout the whole year. Fed beat all the top players including Nadal in London. I guess, that was one of his top level weeks in his life. I wish he can have such a week during a GS and win some more.

  • @conziborg2 Wait, wait, wait... You honestly think Federer is better now than he was in 2004-2005? Seriously? And for those who say that competition is tougher now, it only seems that way because Federer was creaming everyone in those days. He made others seem weak because he was so UNBELIEVABLE.

  • @TBreezy40 or maybe Federer was only unbelievable as the competition was weaker?

  • @conziborg2 Haha.... This is where we disagree. I think the level of play in general was better in Federer's peak years. And those peak years are in 2004-2006, not now. He reached a peak no other player before or since has been close to.

  • @TBreezy40 Thats why Nadal was able able to do so well in 05. Considering he is maybe two or three times better than he was then and only having slightly more success now i dont see the volubility of the argument

  • @conziborg2 Slightly more success now? Nadal was a non-factor outside of clay those days. Now he's a threat anywhere. And that's due to both his improvement and the general slowing of all surfaces.

  • @TBreezy40 Yea, thats why he won like what,3 hard court masters only just losing to Nadal in the Miami Final. He clearlt wasnt where he is now in terms of sucess, but, he has improved a lot more than more sucess he has had

  • @TBreezy40 hewitt & roddick lame competition, nadal was still learning his craft on HC and djoko was still a kid, djoko is the real deal of mens tennis now, he should blaze thru the clay season & win wimbeldon

  • @AceGuitarR7

I would not say, that Fed cant play on the level of 04-06 anymore. It is both fiercer competition and aging of Fed, that makes it impossible to play on his top level throughout the whole year. • bahahaha... and people actually think federer was fully fit in aus 08 when djokovic won. i remember watching earlier rounds thinking he didnt seem to have the energy he usually had. something just seemed off. even though he won early rounds fairly easily. then found out he had mono and shouldnt have even been playing but still made the final. i mean he lost in straight sets to djokovic in a grand slam final. even if djokovic played his best he could never do that to a fit federer

  • @AceGuitarR7 it was the semi's in 08 that djok beat fed

  • aah those were the days ...one of the golden yrs of federer ...aah heck ...one of the golden years of tennis !!

  • He defeated Djokociv in 2007 and 3 Years later did it again!

  • Federer is still on winning course. It's just a little harder at the moment.

About 2 Years ago they said, that Federer can't handle the competition anymore, and how many grand slams did he win since then?

I'm just saying he definitely can play. And nobody can know the future, possible that he's going to dominate the tennis once again.

  • you have to see the match one year later at the AO semifinal federer djokovic

  • this is so gd to watch i am a murray fan being britsh and all that but fed is just sooo gd

  • 8:54 WTF

  • Roger, 2004. 2006. 2007. won

  • This court was so beautiful in green. Why they changed it! :(

  • @fmvgomes I agree!! why blue? i mean green is kinda like the meaning of tennis court, blue is just..... bleh.... nasty

  • I hated the court green, it looks so unatural, even federer said he didnt like it

  • @conziborg2 i find that funny that he plays amazing on the green ones though..

  • @syncroneyes I've re read what I heard, he didnt say he disliked the green just that he prefers the blue

"I prefer the blue over the green, absolutely. I think it looks nicer on TV. It's nicer on your eyes when you play. The stadium looks just more friendly, more nice. The green was very much too green from my point of view. So I really prefer the blue over the green." "Not unfriendly, but the blue is more friendly"

  • its modern i guess o_O

  • well said mcbrainsen...........

  • 2007 Federer would destroy 2009 Federer;)

  • yes, but the loser is still or was still the best player in the world

  • @McBrainsen

You don't know why ? Because Federer of 2009 become a father.

  • roger had stopped playing like this well before he became a father. id say he got screwed when he lost to djokovic a year later in the semis and he cant get his game together like this ever since

  • @McBrainsen 2009 Federer would then destroy 2008 Federer

  • @McBrainsen I agree with you..rogers best years were at 04,05,06,07...but now we have 2010 and he is still winning majors..that is exactly what makes him to the best player ever

  • @seidl01

Roger himself said that most players (not all) are in their prime between 22 and 25 years of age. Roger was 25 here.

Yet at 28 he is still the No. 1 player by far and winning majors. Scary.

  • @McBrainsen Not true......Would destroy federer 2008.....

  • roger has to win the points no much faster then in former times

  • federer took out EVERYONE in this grand slam in straight sets...this was when federer won most matches before they even stepped on court...i am a huge federer fan and miss these moments but time catches up to everyone....like The great roger said himself "you can never be bigger than the game, after you're gone, theres someone else to take your spot"

  • he's still number one stupid

  • no reason to call names dude...i am a ENORMOUS federer fan...my favorite...but he is not the same player as he was back from this time...he doesnt have that invincibility, he would go on court and people would think how fast they would lose to him....nadal broke that and other people followed nadal....yes fed's #1 still and im so happy but he is not the consistant number one that he was from 04-07

  • before this match djokovic only dropped like 8 games total in his 3 matches...so djokovic was playing spectacularly and federer still took him out in straights

  • Roger.............. love Roger

  • His backhand was a huge weakness in the us open final along with his serve delpo aimed for that wing most of the time and suceeded

  • For people claiming this wasn't Djokovic we know now - 2 months after that Australian Open he reached the final in Indian Wells and won Miami.

Fed's level at AO 2007 is just unreachable, you'll never see such tennis again, Fed's getting older unfortunately

  • amazing ...just amazing....If he plays anyway near to what he is currently....lolz already he's winning but still it would be great to see him play this perticular level of tennis.....Just Pure Sensation.

And boy o boy did djokovic played well in this match considering what mod federer was in.I mean else it could have been even worse.

Just Great Tennis Player is what Roger Federer Is......

    All Hail Prince Federer !!!!!!!:)

  • federer's best grand slam performance.. the semis against roddick is one of his best ever..

  • i trutly think so tooo, fed's best grand slam ever.........

  • Fed had a killer backhand

  • I remember Fed was still playing his magic tennis in the aussie open 2007. Since then, it's like everyone had started to catch up with him or he simply had declined.

  • It went both ways, I think. Everyone improved while Fed declined a little. Federer STILL kicks ass. I think the current moderate-Federer is actually beneficial for competitiveness, although I miss the God-Federer from 04 to early 07.

  • man that was some great skill there...

  • At the end of the day murray, nadal and djokovic are 5-6 years younger than federer of course they were going to give him trouble when fed got older.

  • @incredibleXMan Agassi was made the US Open final in 2005, at age 35 so don't use age as an excuse. It's not like Agassi was never injured, his back forced him into retirement and he explains more about his bad back in his book. So, don't use age as an excuse, Agassi won most of his slams in the latter stages of his career. Federer loses to Djokovic and Murray and Nadal because they beat him. No matter how many stupid excuses Federer gives (and he always has them) he lost to them. END OF STORY.

  • @VerdascoFan

    Different generations.

    Safin, Coria are retired.

Nalbandian, hewitt, ferrero, haas are on their last legs.

Fed and Roddick are the only two left.

Federer is no longer in his prime and he is still the no 1 player in the world.

Can you imagine a 28 yo Nadal or Murray beating any 22 year old???

What stupid excuses? ao05,fo08,us09 press conf all on youtube. look em up. no excuses except 'too good'

  • @pmo1983 hewitt has been playing well after those surgeries, he gets unlucky with draws A LOT. Nalbandian has been injured but could win a slam; he has the game. ferrero made the Wimby quarters last yr and has won 3 clay titles this yr and made 1 final, Haas won Halle and made WImby semis last yr. SO......and yes to that last question. the best find a way to win.

  • @VerdascoFan oh and hewitt has won at least 1 title a yr every except 1. he beat fed in halle. lost to nadal at FO 2 yrs in a row. been doing well against top players. Haas almost beat fed at the Fo in 09 if u recall.

  • @AlphaDraconis7 nadal's improved alot of aspects of his game like his serve and attacking game.

  • @VerdascoFan

i agree..rafa has improved alot of aspects of his game..like the serve and attacking game. but still..there is area for improvement, even though he is winning alot this season. his tennis isn't perfect by any means..

  • @AlphaDraconis7 NO, but he keeps trying to improve his game and add more to it. He's still striving to improve even though he's so good. Instead of just thinking he doesn't need to improve because he has 8 slams an Olympic gold and he's #1. Instead he keeps trying to get better and do better. He has the hunger to keep playing, and try to win and improve. It's very inspiring.

  • @incredibleXMan to be fair, nadal's been giving federer trouble since he was 18

  • @gabe228 Yes nadal is the exception and maybe murray as well. Perhaps djokovic and berdych are better examples, fed dominated them at first, now they are getting wins over him more regularly.

  • @incredibleXMan or maybe they got mature and now can beat federer, those days they were unexperience.. federer has 30? agassi and connors still after 30 they keep winning grand slams

  • @luisdjokovic Agassi and Connors were exceptions in the realm of fitness. I'm pretty sure Murray and Nadal have strategies too grinding and defensive for them to be competitive into their 30s. Djokovic...he slides a lot on hard courts, so him, too. His knees are already kinda bad. It's no surprise Federer declined around 29.

  • @Ledwix but to be considered the best of all times (federer) he need to train to stay fit....i think djokovic, murray and nadal change his game and mature and thats why now can beat federer

  • @luisdjokovic nobody can be fit forever, look at rafa nowadays sweating profusely. Djokovic and murray 6-7yrs younger are lucky to play with a declining federer. Back then the federer don't drop his level for at least 4 sets, nowadays he stay at the level for only 1st set. His tactic is to use every energy for 1st set and force his opponent to give up since his tank will be empty after the set. The match go 5 sets he almost 100% lose.

  • nice quality man im gonna suscribe oops i suscribed just kidding i suscribed confusing eh?

  • Federer was standing on baseline and hitting the ball with pleasure.

    He is a legend.

    GO GO ROGER ;D

  • It's hard to send a champion away. Still, we can all reminisce the golden years of Federer in these highlights

  • I miss this Federer....

Giving a free tennis lesson to Djokovic

    =)

  • I dont know who is giving, and who is receiving lessons!

  • well he did that today at the final in cinci ;) godlike performance, must have seen that

  • Yes! Perhaps Fed having earned his 15th grand slam put a load off his shoulders and is playing more freely and confidently again. His backhand was certainly reminiscent of his prime days. :)

  • He was just dancing in the court those days..

  • mannn how good was federer two years ago damnnn

  • wat i find amazing is that djokovic is playing better tennis in this match than he is currently, 2 years later..

  • too true, he'll be world number 4 if he continues this way

  • Maybe his racquet sucks, or he is just having a few issues with injuries. To me he looks to be playing less aggresive.

  • no way djoko is playing better here...look at his return of serve..its just sitting up in the middle of the court...and his backhand is not going cross court enough...now he is better able to hit to federer's backhand than in this match...he is also a better server and mover now.

  • in australian open 2007 federer was unbeatable

  • yea

  • @MatteHbk87 totally right mean here djockovic is playing pretty amazing but fed still wins in straight sets
