@nsdtr01 I dont listen to politicians especially on matters of science. This is a debate that comes up in many of my classes. I am a student of science and I have heard every argument from global warming and it doesnt stand up to science. There are people in my current class that cannot understand why the instructor is telling them the same thing. I havent had one instructor in any of my science courses that agree with the arguments made by environmentalist on global warming.

Let's try to catch all the bias, shoddy reporting, and irrationality in Hume's peice
1) "Global warming activists often... " is the kind of statement that's a hallmark of shabby reporting. A real reporter deals in *facts*, not personal impressions like "well, it kinda seems I often hear them (them???) something like that." Exactly who said exactly what? This is Hume "reporting" as a political hack *argues*.
2) Hume equivocates between the general "changes in the arctic ice cap" with this report's SPECIFIC concern of the pattern of the arctic OCEAN'S current direction.
3) Combining those, IF(!) (evidence?) "global warming activists" (does he means scientists?) have pointed "to changes in the arctic ice cap as proof of the dangerous effects of man-made global warming", were they pointing to artic ocean's directional current changes, OR sea ice extents, OR some other feature of the ice cap? If you actually *think* about what Hume said (not a strength of Fox "News" viewers), it was almost vacuous. It lacked specific facts, clarity, and logical connection.
4) I'd like to know who these "global warming activists" are, and exactly which aspect of changes in the artic ice cap they've said constitutes proof (proof - is that the word they used?) of the danerous effects of global warming. (I guess I'll have to wait until an actual journalist gives the story!).
5) Surely Hume didn't give a biased or misleading assessment of the scientists conclusions. Surely he read the NASA press release about it. Imean, he's the Fox "News" anchor! Let's look:

One final amusing note: Notice the progression from a routine scientific finding that has only slight and indirect bearing on the issue of global warming, to Hume's shoddy reporting and agenda-driven innuendo that this report is somehow a blow to the scientific consensus about global warming, to a YouTuber posting Hume's junk with the title "Global Warming - Disputed by NASA ".

There is currently no method for determining the temperature of the mass of the Earth's atmospheres. The non term 'global warming' assumes that there is a method for measuring the temperature of the mass of the atmospheres and is therefore ignorant.
I have to disagree. When people say global warming, they're talking about *changes* to the Earth's *surface* temperature, not "determining the temperature of the mass of the Earth's atmospheres." Furthermore, they're talking about those temps as *averaged* by area, as different areas will record different temp changes. Thus you'll often hear "global warming" referred to as the increase in the Earth's mean surface temperature. That's perfectly well-defined and meaningful.

The human contribution to the increase in surface temp:
1) The temperature monitoring stations have been shown to be put into areas where it is warmer (next heat producing objects, etc). Thus the data is biased and inconsistent.
2) The stations in the former Soviet Union, now Russia are not included in the Surface temp data. Without these (especially Siberia-whoa coldldldldldldld), of course the surface temp is going to be marginally higher.

You shouldn't cite the Antarctic. The ice in Antarctica is getting thicker every year. It also accounts for like 95% of ice on earth. The only place thats genuinely losing ice in Greenland and to a lesser extent the arctic. Then the warmhawks completely forget that back in the middle ages Greenland was in fact green land and was farmed. The expected severity of this whole thing has been decreasing since day one, and I expect it to continue that trend until we realize it's no big deal.
Yeah, the ice in Antartica IS getting bigger. Do you know why? Because it's raining more there. Do you know why it's raining more? Because there's more water evaporating. Do you know what causes water to evaporate? Heat. And yes, Greenland was farmed during the height of the Medieval warming period, in Southern Greenland, on the coast. They didn't travel more than maybe 100 miles inland. Why? Because it was all covered in ice.
I meant that if temperatures are high enough to cause the ice to melt, evaporate and precipitate, why would the rain freeze and cause the Arctic ice to grow?

The way that ice melts is not by the air temperature, but by the ocean temperature. The ice reflects 90% of the sunlight, but the water absorbs 90%. So the ocean melts ice, it condenses in colder places and falls back as snow, making the net effect little to none. However, other snow falls on the mass, making it bigger. So for now, there is more ice refreezing on the other side to compensate for the melting, although I'm sure that will change.

With climate change the UK can expect colder than normal weather.I am in Canada and we just had a balmy winter and it is was sunny and 10C on March 1.Winters here are getting shorter and milder ,I am not complaining but it sure is odd.If nothing is up why is our climate getting warmer?

The human contribution to the increase in surface temp:
1) The temperature monitoring stations have been shown to be put into areas where it is warmer (next heat producing objects, etc). Thus the data is biased and inconsistent.
2) The stations in the former Soviet Union, now Russia are not included in the Surface temp data. Without these (especially Siberia-whoa coldldldldldldld), of course the surface temp is going to be marginally higher.

I believe that the AGW movement is based on lies, lies that are justified by a sense that its okay to stretch or suppress the truth in order to achieve a greater good. The skeptic movement should be better than this and resist the temptation to level the playing field by resorting to their tactics. Tell the truth, all of it, and when people wake up to that truth we'll be the ones who are squeaky clean while they're covered in shit.

You shouldn't cite the Antarctic. The ice in Antarctica is getting thicker every year. It also accounts for like 95% of ice on earth. The only place thats genuinely losing ice in Greenland and to a lesser extent the arctic. Then the warmhawks completely forget that back in the middle ages Greenland was in fact green land and was farmed. The expected severity of this whole thing has been decreasing since day one, and I expect it to continue that trend until we realize it's no big deal.

Yeah, the ice in Antartica IS getting bigger. Do you know why? Because it's raining more there. Do you know why it's raining more? Because there's more water evaporating. Do you know what causes water to evaporate? Heat. And yes, Greenland was farmed during the height of the Medieval warming period, in Southern Greenland, on the coast. They didn't travel more than maybe 100 miles inland. Why? Because it was all covered in ice.

I meant that if temperatures are high enough to cause the ice to melt, evaporate and precipitate, why would the rain freeze and cause the Arctic ice to grow?

The way that ice melts is not by the air temperature, but by the ocean temperature. The ice reflects 90% of the sunlight, but the water absorbs 90%. So the ocean melts ice, it condenses in colder places and falls back as snow, making the net effect little to none. However, other snow falls on the mass, making it bigger. So for now, there is more ice refreezing on the other side to compensate for the melting, although I'm sure that will change.
