Great video, well done.chuck was,is and always will be my favorite rb.I remember seeing him for the 1st time against oak in 73 his rookie year.oh my he had more moves than a jar of x-lax.I still have chucks 75 season home jersey my pride and joy!
The first time I saw him run, made me a football FAN! I'm from NY, a Jet fan & Viking fan, but Viking fan because of Chuck. Underrated & appreciated! Best feet I've see on a running back his size!
Thank you for this post. I have been a fan of Foreman since I was a kid. With the help of your video I can show my students who the great Chuck Foreman is.
From 1974 to 1977 Chuck Foreman had 60 touchdowns. I know i just saw him today and got some states that he had there. The amount of TD's on here is wrong.
His play speaks of his greatness louder than any words can. First he avoids Isiah Robertson, then while still off balance puts a subtle move wich has both Rams safeties coliding with each other. ( also @ 2:40). If that was'nt eneugh, he also fends off Rod Perry . One of the most monster plays of his career.
It was'nt really THE knee injury. Although he did hurt his knee a couple of time in his career, it was never a blown up knee requiring surgery.
What happened to Foreman was simple..... gained too much weight.! In 1978 he came in weighing 230.He could no longer excecute his lighning quick moves. Given that he was'nt that fast to star with, there was'nt much left. I have old Viking reports and Foreman himself claims " I gambled and I lost. ( he though he'd be better heavier)
@6400az hmmm.. I always assumed that it was( the injury)..My dad and I at the time noticed he just wasnt running right. He started this weird "twisting thing" with his body that he never had done before..We just figured he was trying to protect his knee..Thanks for the info!!
He hurt his knee and was out of the line up for a few games in 73'. In 77' he also hurt it, and took the brace off for the final game of the season. An crucial MNF contest against the Lions wich the Vikings HAD to win to get in the playoffs. They won it and Chuck was sensational. In 79 he also hurt it, this time more seriously, but again nothing major..
He saw things materialize before they even took shape, so he was putting on a move as soon as he made eye contat with the defender.
Again, I've never seen more spectacular moves, Sayers , Sanders, Simpson etc. Been watching football for over 40 years....just never seen anything like Chuck. One of the top 4 or 5 athltes ever to suit up and easily the greatest of all Vikings.
When people reffer to Foreman, they always seem to interject the obligatory ....... "best all around" back.
It's almost like saying he was good , but. Kinda like placing an asterisk before his name. He WAS the best back during his playing days, because he did everything better than everyone He was just plain better.
Simply put, the best all around runningback of the 1970's, greatly underated by todays critics, his numbers shine compared to the other running backs of the 70's
Rashad, is he running to try and block someone, or just tagging along for the ride? Easily could have blocked Rams #49 Monty Jackson @ 1:02

Respond to this video...@6400az He would try to "avoid" a tackler before one even GOT to him...was really strange

No asterisk required for Chuck.

Is it just Me or is Chuck Foreman a lot like Marcus Allen? Both of them had a tendency to fumble
MrTennesseeVols 11 months ago
@MrTennesseeVols
Foreman and Allen where two very different backs. For one, NO ONE comes close to the style Foreman had...like he had wings on his feet.
Cant' really say about Allen holding on to the ball, but rarely did Foreman ever fumble.
