The key is the parable about the Scorpion and the frog. Jody knew by interaction with Fergus, that he would watch over Dil making him give his word. Fergus felt obligated, from the dreams he would have about Jody. Guessing from a psychological aspect of the movie Jody suspected Fergus would fall in love with Dil despite her being a transvestite.
At the end of the movie Fergus tells Dil of the scorpion and frog. Answering why he took the blame for her. It was his nature.
It was a wonderful movie. I think the greatest enlightenment I garnered from it was that love comes in the least expected ways but be grateful that it comes at all because it can be stolen away from you at a moments notice.

Fergus felt obligated, from the dreams he would have about Jody. Guessing from a psychological aspect of the movie Jody suspected Fergus would fall in love with Dil despite her being a transvestite.
At the end of the movie Fergus tells Dil of the scorpion and frog. Answering why he took the blame for her. It was his nature.

It was a wonderful movie. I think the greatest enlightenment I garnered from it was that love comes in the least expected ways but be grateful that it comes at all because it can be stolen away from you at a moments notice.

His name is Jaye Davidson. He also played the "god" Ra in the movie Stargate. It's a good movie, but not for everyone.

Oh definately it is a gREAT film! Very well done and very interesting...there's like 3 parts to it...definately rent it. But do it soon and don't look at the comments or someone will spoiler it for you! Don't talk to anyone about it.

He got into movies at a time when it was unpopular to be gay in the movie industry unless it was for a part like the one he played here (The Crying Game) So as a result of being made fun of and not being taken serious he left. He now works as a fashion consultant in London England.
I bet he would find the industry way more open to roles he could play.
This is the only man I would go all the way with. He was so beautiful in Stargate. That was his setting as far as I'm concerned.
