  • be funny takeing a dump in space lol

  • great inside view.. thanks for this! :)

  • I've been waiting for a video like this for a long time. Great vid!

  • Wow nice inside view.

  • Very cool video.

Sure it's sad to see the shuttles go, but NASA is trading up for Mars.

  • @mdr48371 What, probes to Mars or an actual proper manned mission?

  • this is so awesome, thanks NASA!

  • 7:27 behind that long bus is a short bus!! for the special-ed crew at 6:11

  • I bet that fat ass'd technician at 6:10 is eating a hamburger and starts playing with himself by beating off in that red box thing at 6:45. Is that a condom or a feedbag?? Or a muzzle 4 when his crabby wife plucks his fat?

Ahh hah!! A special-ed crew!! 6:09 Look at the pretty grass zooming on by!!

  • I wonder if they"ll melt us down?

  • what are those little blue squares for?

  • @watkinscopicat Its Velcro....

  • @watkinscopicat velcro

  • Tanks you

  • Amazing video. 5 people missed the Like button I guess.

  • i wondered when i was a child about our moon, sun and stars...but now i wonder about this miracle and mysterious space shuttle made by humans...HOW COULD THEY DO IT???

  • I cannot imagine commercial space companies such as SpaceX, etc., devoting as much time, attention, and care as is evidenced here by the NASA staff. This is extremely shortsighted to mothball these ships and the immense engineering and staff training involved. Once you let that go, it's gone. Forever.

  • Incredible inside detail...i watched the entire mission and this crew were damn good at their job but injected so much more humour into the mission...Atlantis is now retired unless it is called up as a rescue vehicle for the final shuttle flight....mind blowing visually as well....it will be missed.

  • Very very , I mean, extremely cool vid. I like these in depth views and details.

  • The more I see, the more inquisitive I become...this is so interesting !

  • Awesome video. These recent behind the scenes videos are really fun to watch.

  • They should re-release this with commentary about what is happening.

  • @Rictor71 Give me a time hac and I'll tell you exactly what is happening...

  • what a boring job lol

  • lol @ 6:35

  • What this video does not show is all the hard work in the 3 hours prior to this video where 3000 lbs of equipment is removed right on the runway including expierments, payloads, seats, stowage bags and equipment lockers. Throwing switches is cool and configuring the cockpit for powerdown or the hanger is important but after watching many landings from the runway the guys that remove all that space stuff are the real runway hero's.

  • @mach25man must be part of the flight crew system guys to say that.............Ha Ha........from your friendly neighborhood SCO

  • interesting video.... no FOD control with not wearing clean suits and water bottles just laying around anywhere.

  • Best moment: as they are reopening the hatch, "Hello Ladies!"

  • NASA would have a much easier time winning the support of the American public (and the politicians) if it would put a little bit more effort into advertising itself. Put 5% of your budget towards marketing. Create your own Bill Nye-ish TV show. On NASA TV, create some real programming that isn't just the same random footage shown over and over day after day. Get people interested = get support = get freedom to do what needs to be done.

  • FanTASTIC video! Thank you so much for posting this. Absolutely a space geek's dream.

  • Wow! Very much cool video!

  • vava, curious to know your qualifications for making such comments.

  • Thank you O.O

  • Jesus, ducttape all over the place..

    Very cool video though..!

  • such a beautiful timeless bird ! Hopefully the Intrepid in NYC gets one of the 3 to park next to another majestic bird, the Concorde !

  • Have good rest Atlantis, thanks for the aid you've given us for space exploration!

  • Why are we cutting the shuttle program? Generally when these crafts are put to pasture, they are replaced by more sophisticated crafts. Yet this is going away and nothing is replacing it. I realize it's easier to cut NASA's budget than the military, but you think they can give a little less to Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and many more countries just to keep this essential part of our space program (if there is any left) going? It's sad to see this go, along with many high skill jobs

  • @jackjohns01:, God, I'll miss seeing the shuttle program. Hope they revive a semblance of it within my lifetime. This program was the most sophisticated operation of its kind yet, and was just...awesome. "Houston, Atlantis, roll program!" "Roger, roll, Atlantis!" Will miss those.

  • @TachieBillano I went to school in South Florida and had a chance to see a couple of take-offs and it's a magnificent site to see.

  • @jackjohns01: Oh WOW, I'm so envious! :-) How close to the launches did you get? And were they really loud enough to set nearby car alarms off?

  • @TachieBillano I wasn't that close. I was in Orlando and from there you can see it taking off. I wish I was close enough to hear it. Even from Orlando it's a pretty sight.

  • Whoever voted this video down is a Communist.

  • **THERE IS DEFINATELY LIFE IN SPACE. WHY ?? BECAUSE OF ALL-OF-THE-GERMS...THAT ARE BEING TRANSFERED...VIA THE WORKERS DIRTY SHOES.......smile. GREAT JOB FELLOWS**

  • That was AWESOME! Thank you!

  • @Tommyr glad you enjoyed it.................It takes a lot of training to be able to do this

  • @MrAstronut321 I'd give my left and MAYBE right nut to do that stuff! Thanks again.

  • woooow

    Amazing !!

  • Great to see the interior systems in such detail.

  • Better than sci-fi movie

  • That hatch has a good weight saving measure. It has no hinge or hydraulic ram to stop it from easily opening and closing. Those safety guards are being put on Atlantis's controls for the last time now that it's near retired from service.

  • Incredible video, what a treat.

I wish NASA would (be allowed to) build another 5 brandnew space-shuttles, and could make use of all the knowledge and experience that there is now and astronauts paid with their lives for.

What an absolute intolerable waste, to stop this program.

  • @hackneysaregreat

I disagree, the main problem with the shuttle is that it isn't safe. There was major problem with the foam breaking hole in the wings plus there is no way to escape the shuttle if the orbiter explode.

Blow up on take off? Die.

    Blow up on reentry? Die

They only way to escape is jump in parachute. To do that, the shuttle has to fly level, at a good altitude (not too low, not too high) and the crew have to be concious.

  • @vava54own And that's why NASA is not going to put man anywhere below the top of any rocket after the shuttle retires.

  • @TheFutureIsRightHere

    hehe escape tower ftw.

  • @vava54own I am disagree... you have the same risk on a Soyuz Capsule than a Shuttle... even in the New Orion spacescraft too... in the history of spaceflight the risk safe is always present. In the aviation history too.

  • @Franciszek64

Uhmm no.. soyuz is much more safer. Safer for take off, with the escape tower, and safer for reentry, since it's smaller, and more simple.

It's true that there is some risk, but they are less important with rocket equiped with escape tower.

  • @hackneysaregreat The space shuttles were primarily built for constructing and developing the ISS. Now when the space station's construction is basically completed, there are no further uses for those space shuttles.

  • @hackneysaregreat all because of bush. i do think we should built new spacecraft but while in the orocess keep this ones active not stop them for 6 planed years

  • @hackneysaregreat 1-2 billion per launch is not waste? No, lets pay the private industry to build better, safer and cheaper rockets, like SpaceX. I love NASA, but they should concentrate on other stuff rather than being a job-provider for states.

  • @nawitus Its 1-2 billion if you only launch 1-2 a year. If you launch more, its not as expensive. The infastructure to launch humans doesnt come cheap.Space X obviously wont have the hugh infastructure and the Nasa over site which cost big money. Thats where the savings will be. But if they sit idle for a year and only launch one their cost will be expensive also.

  • @hackneysaregreat With the money saved by not investing in 5 new space shuttles, we could provide writing and grammar courses for free.

  • Great Video. it's disgusting that the shuttle program is being closed.

  • @ArmyFtBall I know but some of us knew that the space station was the last of the shuttles challenges but as others have said investing in 5 new shuttle would cost your US goverment nearly 6.0 Billion if you look at the costs back in the 1980's which have skyrocketed since. this is what has delayed development of a craft to replace the shuttle.

  • It's hard to believe each one of those switches has a purpose.

  • Lucky people!

  • @maksphoto78 thank you........I consider myself very lucky to be able to do that

  • this thing makes the cockpit of my Piper Cherokee look like a joke!

  • @MrTxTx

I would be quite happy with your Piper Cherokee, you know...

    Or a P-38 :-)

  • pretty awesome, and this is just a routine check up XD

  • Very Nice vid :D I bet to get around and shut that door is A LOT more easier to close with no gravity hahaha :)

  • make earth so nice that we will not need to know what is out there...

  • what will happon to these shuttles now are they doomed to a musuems ?

  • @TotalWarLord I wouldnt be suprised if they are put in museums to be honest.
