@oakiesooner4life The buttons are stock, but have to be drilled out for the LED. Then filled back up to the right level so that they still work with the rubber pads that fit behind them in the controller. The level has to be correct otherwise the buttons will not function correctly when pressed

Because the red and blue LEDs had a high MCD rating. The higher it is, the brighter it will be. The MCD rating for the green and yellow was a couple hundred. Like 300-400. But for the blue and red it was around 2000mcd

No, LEDs wont get hot unless you run too many volts through them. They usually dont last long either when that happens.

carefully drilled them out, put the LED in there, then filled it up with hot glue. You have to make sure the level of the hot glue is the same level as the piece of plastic that is originally in there or the button wont work right

No, different colors. And that meant different voltages and different brightness. I could have ordered brighter yellow and green LEDs online, but I didn't feel like waiting. This controller was just an experiment anyway. I got the LEDs at Radio Shack. They are 5mm LEDs.

It was the people at the repair facility. The dude did contact Microsoft and complained. It got a lot of attention and in the end he got a new 360 and it was signed and drawn on by some of the people who did his other one. He also got a LOT of free swag with it.

Sure, but you would have to be sure to fill it up with hot glue to the height of the plastic that you drill out. That way it will still function. Which is more of a pain than just leaving the middle section and wiring four 3mm LEDs. But, that's my opinion.

Yea, just follow the tutorial on llamma's site. I have the link in my "xbox 360 controller and console mods" videos.

And if you are using a wireless controller then you won't need a resistor for blue LEDs. The wireless uses 3 volts and blue usually runs fine up to like 3.8 volts. If using a wired controller you will need one. And use a resistor calculator. The wired controller uses 5 volts.

Each LED IS the color of the button.

You're idea would be kinda hard to do. Because the pressing of the button itself would have to complete the connection to a power source. And would be pretty tough getting things all back together and in a way where the wires wouldn't interfere with the function of the button.

Well, since the red and blue leds were so much brighter in the buttons I figured it would match. lol I think it looks neat because it's different and has a patterned look to it. Besides, I needed to do something different than my black controller. lol

how does rapid fire work without the chip.. i was interested in moding a controller but wasnt sure bout that

One wire soldered to the negative side of the player 1 LED. The other wire soldered to the middle contact of the right trigger. Then solder them to a button. Mine is a tact switch/button from radio shack. What happens is the LED negative completes the trigger connection as if you pulled the trigger(but when you press the button) And I guess the negative side is really pulsing but we can't see that, so it's like it pulls the trigger really fast. Works on the matrix controller boards.

All of them are lit, just as I said in the little note at the beginning of the video. It's just that the green and yellow LED are "low intensity" so compared to the red and blue they are very dim. But that's all radio shack had. lol
