@bruinjoe ITS THE TRUTH... YOU SEE IT EVERYWHERE... BLACK GUYS RUNNING FROM THE LAW.. 2/3 of the prision population is BLACK .. Even the Colts football players can't stay out of trouble... Its in you blood...
Meb is a great athlete and a wonderfully genuine human being. I've met him and he's gone out of his way to answer my running/training questions. I look forward to him being the American who wins NYC again and wins Boston for the first time since Greg Meyer won in 1983. He has it in him for sure. He's not afraid to work extremely hard and the way he bounced back and won NYC is a testament to that dedication. He's sure to have more victories in the future.
@kalkikalk1 got your message in my youtube inbox. Yes, I actually DO know that Meb was born in Eritrea, but those of you who don't know, there was a stupid & controversial comment made by a sports commentator when Meb won the 2009 NYC Marathon. When Meb was asked about it, he expressed his disappointment because he is very proud to be an American. Alberto Salazar (3-time winner of NYC), pointed out in Meb's defence, if Meb's not American, then he's not either...he's Cuban. No one remembers that!
@rentslave umm, no? in horse racing its for the horses that are lighter not faster, to give the other riders an advantage. in running, its completely different mechanics and physiology. runners only have thmslves to worry about. just because a runner is lighter, doesnt mean they are faster. besides over 26.2 miles it would destory their bodies to carry even a pound heavier at those speeds. if a runner is faster they shouldnt be forced to hinder that speed, every1 else should just run faster =/
I was flipping through the channels and saw the ending. It was very inspiring, my favorite part was when he points to the USA on his shirt. I want to do the same someday.
Yes at the end of the race when he crosses the line he does the sign of the cross. But if you watched it live, throughout the final stretch Meb was pointing to the USA on his chest and waving to the crowd. It was a very touching moment and it's a shame it wasn't included in this video.
i was so happy for meb. he really deserves it...such an underdog. while everybody is touting how hall may be the next saviour of american distance running, this guy stays quiet and puts his heart and soul into the sport. don't get me wrong, i think ryan's a tremendous athlete and he is one of the strongest americans we've seen in this distance but the media LOVES to make "poster children" out of mostly reluctant people for things they don't understand.
@finnetmoi I agree. Ryan is awesome and all, but the media seems to pay way too much attention to him and not to any other american runners. This here shows that Ryan Hall isn't the only great American runner, despite what the media would have you believe
What kind of comment is that from the commentator? "And from Eritrea"!? His shirt says USA. I'm sure the NBC commentator goes around telling all his friends that he is from Ireland or Germany or wherever he is from? What ignorance!
I thought it was pronounced Kef-le-zi-ghi... Now I'm confused...

Shouldn't the faster runners be required to carry weights as in horse racing?
