Thanks for posting. I remembered this song from long ago, and knew that someone would have it here. Yes, it may be a "filler," but it blows away most of today's sonic manipulation that passes for music.

This is my all time favourite kids show from when I was growing up in the late 60s/early 70s. I have the dvd of the first series and it is still great, apart from the 'Danger Island' part which is pretty naff and poorly acted. The rest though - brilliant! And the music is great too, as this wonderful clip proves. The San Francisco tourist board should've employed em, coz this Brit would love to go there!

I found it! That was perfect! Fleegle was my hero when I was 7! Of course back then I didn't even know it was San Francisco! The organ/harpsichord sound is a bit like the Doors' Light My Fire. Magic.
im in awe at the affection for this song, as i remember it the first time around, and it always takes me back, to when times were simple ,and uncomplicated, and my beloved parents were alive, i would give 20 mill for 5 mins back then.....
Words can barely begin to describe how great this video and song are on so many levels. Like another poster said, this "filler" song is so much better than any kids show song today! Cruising the Golden Gate Bridge in a 1968 Impala convertible? It just doesn't get any better than that!!! An innocent and positive song in the face of all the chaos of Vietnam.
I am stunned by this! I swear to God, I havent heard this since I was 6 in 1970. I never really forgot it and this is the first time in 40 years I heard it again..Nice song..great show
Hey, don't sound anything like Daws Butler, Paul Winchell, et. al.
But seriously folks, a half-forgotten masterpiece of sunshine pop with a Frisco travelogue for a video(a mysterious former friend, or one of my sister's, made off with my flipbook of said town). Anything positive said here goes double for me(especialy novicethe, cjlovesjazz, etc..).
I remember that there was a song of same title (Wait Till Tomorrow) back in 1958. The singer was a female and in a different style. Does anyone know that song and can they upload in Youtube for us to share, please.
It is a beautiful song. I remember watching the Banana Splits and I definitely remember this song. It was my favorite. I was only six years old when this came out, but it made an impression on me. It definitely has that 60's sound, but I like it.
This is a great song and I'm glad you posted it. I listened to it after losing my house & for a while I was inconsolable. But the song did help...it has a positive message.

Am I the only one astonished that an apparent ''filler'' song from a childrens' show with people dressed like animals OBLITERATES the songs of today? All the thugs'n'sluts all thumpin and'a'gruntin has left me in poverty, besides the fact ANYBODY could do better with a little more talent and a little less ATTITUDE.Thanks so much for a song I remembered a third of a century later.
By far the best pop song on the series -- one that could have stood on its own. This was released as a single in 1968 and the Banana Splits LP. There was also a surprisingly good funk song by Barry White ("Doin' the Banana Split") performed with the Sour Grapes girls dancing Tina Turner-style. The other songs were a mixed bag with crazy psychedelic graphics. Nice that Boomerang is rerunning this show. Was into Danger Island as a kid.
I watch them, religiously, well, try to atleast. Everyday, here in San Diego, they are on Boomerang, at 2:30 p.m., and 4:00a.m. They show either, the Three Musketeers, or The Arabian Knights, and of course, Danger Island. Yeah that was a good time then. I miss them days, no bills, no cell phone, just little league, and pop warner.
I enjoyed that so much! Thank You! I really was a kid growing up in Philadelphia, PA and I used to come home to watch the Banana Splits.... Thank you for sharing!
Couldnt agree more..... These were simple days where the world was a better place to live. This song has been with me since I was 7 years old. Never forgot it in 41 years..... I'm sounding like my father now but I dont care! Thanks you for posting this on YouTube.

Thank you so much for this. I remember this was the first show I saw on our first colour tv! I even remember this song and I must have been about 6 when i saw it in UK.
This is from the Boomerang cable channel, marked by their annoying logo in the corner. Wish they'd put these out on DVD, they'd be an instant buy for me!
Definitely a simpler time, when America was going strong, with awesome cars, good music and life wasnt as violent or complicated as today. We wont see any of our favorite TV characters driving a 1968 Chevrolet Impala convertible again!
@regency98us - SF was four years away from the Zebra Murders in '69, the Zodiac Killer was at large, and a spike in murder rates that wouldn't peak until the early 90s was starting (it has now decreased substantially.) Hundreds of Americans were dying every week in Vietnam. Pop music was *definitely* in better shape, though.
@spacecadet1ful No idea. Haven't been able to find out who the actual musicians for these songs were. Most likely session musicians that Hanna-Barbera contracted with.
It does kinda sound like Nez but it is not Nez...we're HUGE Nez junkies and have everything he's ever done(even "Sunny Girlfriend" and "Different Drummer") and it's not him....according to Wikipedia the songs were sung by various artists, including Joey Levine, Al Kooper...even Barry White(who sung "Doin' the Banana Splits."). Google banana splits wiki and read about it
Heaven. Oh to re live the childhood of yesterday. How lucky we were. We now can only live them through you tube and our dreams. Thank God for you tube. To all Banana Splits and their fans everywhere happiness always. xxxxxxxxx
Beautiful video shot on a beautiful day in 1969! Those cars alone make this video a winner. And the fact it was shot in living color is a bonus! The '60s and the '80s were the two best decades!! Takes me back to the good ole days! Just seven years old back then -- thinking about Saturday mornings past...funny how time flies!
I loved watching the Banana Splits when I was a kid, plus I was at those same placed they visited in San Fran as well. It's a shame Saturday mornings ain't what they used to be with all the cartoons and kids shows on. BTW, seeing all those old, big cars is a nice treat too.
Great Song thanx for posting this, these are "Happy Songs" of yesteryear as they all say reminds me of great memories of childhood dayz, sadly living in England, never had the dollars to go to San francisco, never seen Candlestick Park, never been able to see NFL or Baseball must be great must be a brilliant atmosphere
Dude it's "The Old" San Fran. The way it used to look. They should've had Herb Caen and Mayor Allioto drinking Martinis and Harvey Wallbanger's with Fleegle and Company at his resturaunt on The Wharf.
Nice i remember watchin these guys in 1968 n 1969 also Man i 52 now man time past fast....so lets have a bananna split....also they were in cinc. ohio did most filmin n six flags of texas also....i know i have a cousin who work durin it and he has tickets pass n items
It's so good to hear this again - even at the ripe old age of 45, I still sneak at peek or two at The Banana Splits every Saturday morning on Boomerang!
You could get someone to do this now in similar costumes (A romp through the streets), although the car may have to be updated (Good luck finding a mint copy of the one in the video) playing this song to it and it would still feel the same as here; SF has lost none of that magic charm through the decades, and neither have the Splits...and yes, I also enjoyed your vid thoroughly, thanks!
Yes I even had my photo taken under the 'Fisherman's Wharf' sign it was strange because I am from England, but because of the Banana splits it was like 'going home' !!
I agree w/coasterboy..this one, "Gonna find a cave" are among my favorite splits songs. When I saw this as a kid, I knew they were in 'Frisco, so I naturally assumed they were walking around Haight-Ashbury in the scene where they got on the bus. I now know that wasn't true....but oooh, don't you wish they had!
thanks for posting these. They're great. No wonder our generation turned out so weird. Used to love this show and this and the cave song are among my favorites. Still have my Banana Splits album although it's in less than mint condition...kids and "toy" turntables.
I found out who wrote this, but i'm trying to find who SANG it. Fantastic voice.

Did it look the same as the video? It's been 8 years since I was in SF last...a lot of it looked the same, esp. the Wharf and Lombard Street

Yes I even had my photo taken under the 'Fisherman's Wharf' sign it was strange because I am from England, but because of the Banana splits it was like 'going home' !!

Yeah - when you consider the year, 1969, I wish some hippies would have stumbled upon these guys running through the streets!
