Wal-Mart gives to charities because it's a huge tax write off at the end of the year. If giving to charities was not profitable to Wal-Mart, they would not be doing them. If Wal-Mart really cared they would pay their employees better so they don't have to go on food stamps, section 8, etc. Or better yet give their employees better health care. Writing off donations is just an incentive to do so by not making it not count as additional income. People throw around the term "write-off" as if it's some sort of reimbursement. It's not. The reason theyve turned their back is that if they were to use American labor they wouldnt make as much money and from that point its a question about what effect that would have on the economy: positive because of jobs or negative because one of america's main businesses is losing money by staying at home. At the end of the day, its just not worth it to have more american jobs than foreign jobs since we have one of the highest industrial taxes or something like that.

I one time bought a door hinge from from walmart. I went to put it in with the screws that came with the hinge, and the fucking screws broke when I screw them in... the metal was like tin or something.

Over a quarter Billion dollars were donated by Wal-mart to children's miracle network, st. joseph's hospital and other "by donations only organizations." They provide medical necessities to families of children who can't afford the costly health coverage for a cancerous children (most can't). Only in America would we protest "give more to the poor!" but protest them paying much less for food, clothes, supplies, etc. . . This country's days are numbered--due to its citizens.

Wal-Mart gives to charities because it's a huge tax write off at the end of the year. If giving to charities was not profitable to Wal-Mart, they would not be doing them. If Wal-Mart really cared they would pay their employees better so they don't have to go on food stamps, section 8, etc. Or better yet give their employees better health care. And I am sorry, Wal-Mart is responsible for destroying thousands of jobs in the U.S. The very little good they do does not make up for the bad.

@grendel1013 Ok, do you know what a write-off is? They would easily make more money if they just kept their profit. Writing off donations is just an incentive to do so by not making it not count as additional income. People throw around the term "write-off" as if it's some sort of reimbursement. It's not. Would you rather have 100 people making a moderate or even lower wage, or 70 people make a good wage with 30 people unemployed? That's the choice we face.

In the corporate world where Wal-Mart makes Billions in profits, paying their employees more would only raise the price of certain items by a dollar, As of now, every Wal-Mart is grossly understaffed, except for Christmas and Black Friday.

It's just about impossible today to not purchase goods from China. I heard an interview with the authors of "A Year Without Made in China" and they found it extremely difficult just to go one year without Chinese made products.
I don't blame China for the US problems. I blame the greedy Americans for US problems.

In 2005 Wal-Mart has a "help a nabor in need fund" and the workers of walmart donated a few million dollars in cash but the multibillionaire Sons of The former owner only donated 6,000 dollars......The average worker in china gets paid 15 cents an hour, also the workers in china have to have and pay for a dorm room from wal-mart to live in-even if they don't live in it they have to pay for it........I HATE WAL-MART .....copy and paste to spread the information.
