Are all the switches on the overhead panel reversed with foward being "OFF" and backward being "ON"? TWA was the only airline to order the cockpit with the switches reversed. One of the planes my company owned was an old 727 and nearly everytime I took the active and flipped the landing lights ON I found the switches foward and though I had taxiid from the ramp wot hthe taxi lights on until I realised it was the freak TWA plane!

Dude i flew a MD-11F simulator and DANM, it's was totally dark and cold and confusing as hell to get it started and going, even with help.
