@AnDyStAiN99 Counties dont play at North Harbour Stadium... While Growers Stadium (The old Pukekohe Stadium) was been redeveloped. Counties were based at Mount Smart Stadium.
@circusgal44 Personally I think it's bad sportsmanship, but that would be a different rugby culture from yours? I suppose it comes down to what you expect. Teams in Ireland are usually quite good at being silent for the kicker, but apparently French kickers, when they go to Thomond Park to play Munster for example in the Heineken Cup are freaked out by the you-could-hear-a-pin-drop silences that greet them. Munster fans think they're being respectful, but the French players find it off-putting!
@PK16M You fecking do, and worse... the abuse Sexton was getting when Leinster were sticking it to your lot down there again proved your fairweather fans have feck all tradition.
fuck ur a gay cunt ur probs some little skinny faggot who plays cricket so dont try and bad mouth newzealand rugby u gay roo rooting koala hugging faggot, go shuv an echidna up ur ass fagg!
The game was an NPC match in New Zealand between North Harbour and Otago, Nick Evans grew up in the area and played for North Harbour the previous season, so some of the local University students were just reminding him of that.
my dad and i met nick evans after a recent quins match and we asked about hhis kicking and the pressure. he said that he actually prefers lots of noise as opposed to silence because when its silent it feels like everyone is watching him intensely. but i guess he meant a constant loud noise rather than an unrhytmic chant that is meant to put him off. so those yobs didnt do him any favours anyway.... but good for him for landing that kick :) CMON QUINS
No, that never happened. You heard that story of Silence putting the kicker off because it was hyped up during the most recent super 14.. Dont make up stories to impress us.
actually the silence is a munster thing that they brought back to the super 14 after NZ played munster for the anniversary. its been big in europe for years before the super 14
Watch the attitude boy. We know it started in Munster, but some other user left a comment saying that him and his Dad met Nick Evans who secretly confessed to them that silence is more off-putting than noise during penalties.
It was hyped up during the Super 14 once the Kiwi franchises started doing the same thing, which is where the other user heard it in the first place.
yea but you stated 5 months ago and i quote "No, that never happened. You heard that story of Silence putting the kicker off because it was hyped up during the most recent super 14.. Dont make up stories to impress us. " thats wen i said it started in munster
I play in France and one team's supporters booed our kickers attempted conversion in the final minute. Fair play if it meant the game perhaps but they were thirty points to the good. If only for the fact that the French do it it should be outlawed, I don't think any player would put a kicker off like this but you can't control who comes and watches a game. The sportsmanship in rugby is what makes it an enjoyable game to many, lose that and you risk more than just losing 2 or 3 points.
wrong, rugby is a gentleman's game. pro sports players or not, there is a thing called sportsmanship which extends to those watching the match.
it shouldn't be something to put up with otherwise you get what happens in football and the disgraceful behaviour of players 'sledging' in cricket. bunch of wankers.
although, it's no surprise that you're antipodean.
Wow, it just shows how passionate we are about the game, this has been happening overhere for years, no way is it disgraceful behaviour, if you are a good enough kicker, you'll block all of that out of your head, they're professinal players, they get played a shitload of money, so I think its alright that the crowd can boo them everyone in a while.
there was a big thing here in soccer about the level of personal abuse that players take from the fans. a bit of a case of you wouldn't do it in the street so why should they have to take it. same goes for a scottish linesman who offered a fan to have a square go with him in the touchline after he got abuse.
considering the bullshit in football, rugby should be setting a trend in sportsmanship. i understand that they should be good enough to take it, i just don't think it's right they have to
It happens everywhere these days though, in the Southern Hemisphere we have always booed the kicker, we havn't been told its disrespectful or anything, in basketball people boo when they take a freethrow, I don't think its just rugby.
I agree. Ive been watching the sixnations and how the welsh treated that new italian kicker was shameful and disgusting. That sort of thing should be left to the footballers
I noticed how you're all quiet for the kicker but when there's a big up'n'under the Munster fans do that lame oooooooooooOOOOOOOOO AHH! when the fullback is attempting to catch the ball. Quite the hipocrits.
