I was present as a ukuncut topshop demo about 18 months ago where the protestors walked into Top Shop and sat down. The manageress said she was going to have us arrested for criminal damage - when we pointed out that we hadn't damaged anything she smashed a clothes rail in front of us and said oh yeah what's that then ? Sadly this video does not suprise me. Keep on doing what your doing, stay safe and peaceful and don't let the thugs put you off - they show themselves up by their own actions.

Calling the demonstration peaceful would be misleading. It was definitely non-violent but there isn't anything peaceful about a group of people running into a shop and shouting at minimum wage staff. Obviously getting your message across to shoppers that aren't aware of the problem is really important but its a delicate balance to do this without intimidating the public. Any violence from security is obviously not on but a more organised demonstration probably wouldn't have ended up like this.

@portsanity There are protests outside topshop in liverpool more or less every week now. Only this one turned nasty. Because it was unorganized, and full of young teens and kids who had no idea what it was about and just wanted to cause trouble.
Security guards have no motivation to attack someone without provocation. They'd only lose their job.
Message to the makers of this film: If possible, please purchase a compact camera with a good zoom lens, stand at a distance, above ground level, (e.g. on a bench, or on a friend's shoulders), and safely film these private militia boot boys (the 'security guards') violently attacking the protesters. Then you will have empirical proof and evidence of their criminal activity and this can be shown to the police to enable the police to arrest these criminals and for them to be charged for assault.

It's true that you're allowed to film/photograph anyone or anything within a public place. As an interest, I do quite a lot of photography in my spare time - mostly around Liverpool and other cities. You'd be amazed at the amount of people who stop and ask what/why I'm taking photographs in a public place and believe that it's illegal to do so. What is this world coming to?

So the guard eventually lost it and headbutted him, and is now sacked. The guard was totally in the wrong, of course, but its just another example of how mean-spirited and abusive the 'protestors' were. It was not, NOT, peaceful in any way.

I'm a security guard in the city centre, and this behaviour is a disgrace! Their job (and mine) is to deter theft, not to police the streets! Message to the makers of this film: If possible, please purchase a compact camera with a good zoom lens, stand at a distance, above ground level, (e.g. on a bench, or on a friend's shoulders), and safely film these private militia boot boys (the 'security guards') violently attacking the protesters. Then you will have empirical proof and evidence of their criminal activity and this can be shown to the police to enable the police to arrest these criminals and for them to be charged for assault.

The Cigarette incident, happened after a member of Staff, from a leading retailer was head butted, clearly, this footage has been edited, to make a generalisation of security officers. Like anything in life, there is two sides to every coin, on this video, we only see on side, why? Also, why wear masks? Anything to hide? one protestor mocked a security guard continuously shouting 'YOU CANT DO NOTHING! YOU CANT DO NOTHING! YOU'LL GET SACKED!'
So the guard eventually lost it and headbutted him, and is now sacked. The guard was totally in the wrong, of course, but its just another example of how mean-spirited and abusive the 'protestors' were. It was not, NOT, peaceful in any way.
Three guys came back to Topshop to apologize. I respect them for that. As bad as the security were, this was all very much provoked.

EU law forbids the UK from collecting taxes from subsidiaries established in the EU.
