'was' being the word. Following his retirement in 1970 and death in 1985, Reg Dixon left a legacy that continues strongly to this day. Whilst Dixon popularised both the Wurlitzer, the Tower Ballroom and the 'Blackpool' style of playing, I have it on very good authority that playing for dancing was not his forte, with him preferring concerts and radio broadcasts. As a dancer, Phils phrasing and timing when playing the Wurlitzer for dancing are second to none.
