star trek was wrong..........ike clanton escaped alive from the gun fight............billy clanton died............why is it that capt kirk finds the one that lives.............
Wouldv'e been interesting if at any point during the gunfight, one of the Earps said "I got you know." To which, either Kirk, Spock, or McCoy could've replied "You're a daisy if you do" or "I'm you're huckleberry." Putting a TOMBSTONE reference in a classic Trek episode.
what are the odds that one actor plays on each side of this fight in 2 different renditions ? Deforest Kelley played in a movie about this . only he was on the other side.. weird.lol
@carlindelco I take that back about him being Billy Clanton. I remember know when he was in Doc Holliday's office to find some type of anestesia for the bomb he and Spock were making, Holliday called him McLaurie. So I think Scotty was Billy Clanton.
i'm with pistol71, this is an *awesome* scene, and is hands-down the creepiest, best mind-meld sequence in the entire series. this episode epitomizes, to me, how budgetary limitations really got the best out of all concerned with the show - less with more. i wouldn't trade 2 seconds of this episode for that entire piece of jj abrams crap from last year. beyond classic.
@euphorik6 geez ain't that the truth! Turning Uhura into some sort of space slut crawling all over poor Spock was IT as far as that film went for me. And if ONE DROP of "red matter" (oh, please!) was enough to wreck a solar system, why was that Romulan carrying around 4000 gallons of the stuff?
Reponse007 Are you kidding ? This is my favourite scene in the whole Star Trek pantheon! I have always loved the mixing of science fiction with other established genres such as the Western. This is in one of the most memorable scenes in one Star Treks most memorable episodes (though some of the super hardcore fans dislike ALL of the Third Season of Star Trek TOS (including this)!
@response007 Rember Gene was battling the 'Net's "Suits" as well as the "Studio" for funding STAR TREK. Supect if they had had the funds would have filmed this esp at TOMBSTONE! Imgine what that would have done for this "story"! Note: DeForest Kelly played "Morgan Earp" in a film with Burt Lancaster who played Wyatt Earp.
@StoneKnivesBearskins Well, it they had had the proper funds I really do think they might have"filmed on location"---the esp where Kirk goes to the planet where his brother, wife and son are was filmed at Riverside City College then
@StoneKnivesBearskins In 72 there was a "Sci Fic convention and me & about 3 others were in the lobby and met Mr Kelly. Has waiting for his car & told those getting it he wanted to talk with us---ended up being about 40 mins of his time---a truly wonderful human being---very kind and infomative.
@rangeclerk You are so lucky. Mr. Kelley was possibly the nicest sweetest man ever to exist, at least that is essentially what everybody who has met him has said in books and interviews and such
What a wonderful way to be remembered. I wish that when I die, I could be remembered in the same way: As the nicest sweetest girl ever to exist.
I wish I could have met Mr. Kelley, but he died before I even knew he existed, as did Mr. Doohan *sniffle*
@StoneKnivesBearskins At that same convention met Gene RobbenBerry & had a book with me concerning the personal private papers of General George S Patton of WW 2 Fame-Gene was by himself and said hello to me and I said the same. He saw my book and asked to look at it and said, "Humm good book". I asked if he would mind signing it and he said sure and signed it--still have it!
He flew 86+missions in the south pacific in B-17s was a Capt in the USAAF then.
@StoneKnivesBearskins Later, same location about an hr later here comes James Doohan and there was an "open bar". He was heading for it and offered to buy him a drink (I was 21) and he said well I will buy you one if u are 12? Showed him my CA DR, smiled and we eached had a shot of scotch---chatted with both Gene and "Jimmy" both also kind and considerate---yrs later at Santa Ana College Ray Bradbury would speak in a phiolosphy class, the instuctor was a friend of his James L Christian
Did you also meet Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner and Walter Koenig?
Man, I'm already jealous, but if you met all of them...I would just scream in envy. Actually, I'd scream anyway, but then my family members would wonder what's going on. LOL
@StoneKnivesBearskins Thanks LOL but no---Nimoy did speak once at SAC but did not get a chance to speak with him---did with Ray Bradbury---also Jim told me it was ok to interview Ray for the Santa Ana College's newspaper but the Editor would not run the interview "'cause she had not been invitied to the interview". In ~75 went to another sci fic convention and George Takei was just leaving the "sellers area" when heard him speak to a nephew; "no more quarters"---he saw me looking (cont)
@StoneKnivesBearskins (cont)...& said to me; "kids, all they want is money" and smiled. Later, at that LA CON-75 was downstairs nobody around & here comes Gene Roddenberry & Majel---it was in Fall of 72 when I first met him & he remembered my name & called me over & asked how I was doing? Then a rush of fans saw him & started talking. I noticed Majel was sort not be noticed & asked how she enjoyed making WESTWORLD where she played a "madam" of a "cathouse" (She was playing an android)--she-cont
@StoneKnivesBearskins cont--Majel smiled wide and asked me if I had seen the film? Yes, I replied and recong her in the role and thought she did a great job espically where she hits some cowboy over then head of a beer bottle--she laughed and said that was her favorite part---then she was engulfed with fans, so I backed up as could see others wanted to met them.
@StoneKnivesBearskins DR. JAMES CHRISTIAN AND REZA GANJAVI ---Do a search of the preceeding---the person being interviewed is the philosophy instructor who has known Ray Bradbury since the early 1960s. He would bring Ray to a class of his called Theater of Ideas---retired now---his text is called PHILOSOPHY: THE ART OF WONDERING---also edited a book EXTRA-TERRESTIAL INTELLIGENCE The First Encouter and has an article from Nimoy 1976 Prometheus Books--used bookstores?
@StoneKnivesBearskins As mentioned in a previous statement; there is a flim with Burt Landcaster playing Wyatt Earp and Deforest shows later playing Morg Earp.
Note: From a TRUE Historical Fact the "BIRDCAGE" did not open until Dec 25 1881 ~2 mos after the "Shootout"---Virg was wounded on the night of Dec 28, 1881 & Morg is not murdered until March 18th 1882!---Tombstone AZ
@StoneKnivesBearskins It was cold that day in Tombstone Oct 26 1881 (the shootout did not actually happen at the "O. K." was actually next to the Fly buildings---
Fly ran a boarding house (where Doc and Big Nose Kate lived) and a photo studio.
There was sleet on the ground during the shootout ~happend around 230pm & by 3 PM it started snowing---unlike protrayed in all the movies about the shootout.
One of these days I'm gonna hunt you down and either kill you or bow down to you. You met just about EVERYBODY! I am so jealous. I'd be even more jealous if you'd met Mr. Nimoy, he is my hero and my favorite actor, and William Shatner, who comes second, in spite of, or perhaps because of, all his ham
The sad thing is that I'll probably never meet them since I live in HickTown :(
I want to get out of here someday, but someday is so far away :(
@StoneKnivesBearskins Before I met them, I had been living in some "Hick Towns", MIssoula Montana, Helena Montana and Olympia (Lacy) Washington---then we moved to Orange County CA---kind of pricey for the moment but again EDUCATION IS THE KEY! JK I not THAT mean, I just have a mischievious streak. LOL
Problem: I want to be an actor, and that makes living in Hick Town even worse. plus, even though we have a good college nearby, it isn't a specialty acting school, which is where I'd like to go. I have to finish High School first, anyway. LOL
@StoneKnivesBearskins Stay focused---Remember Gene had been a B-17 pilot during WW2, commerical pilot after the war and then a police officer and took lots of wrting classes in HS
