How scary is Huck-an-idiot? I suppose that if the Peter Pan saga had been dubbed the Holy Book, that dummy would have believed that story to be the literal truth.
The scientific method has been under assault through most of history by religions. The scientific method is how to think while religion tells you what to think. You'd think this would be a non issue but religion is also a very powerful political tool. So despite all the advances and knowledge science has given us we have rejected it many times in history, in many different places. There's a danger of this happening again and that's why we have to take these religious nutcases seriously.
"...answer the question, ten thousand years, or six billion?" He has no idea what he is talking about, or just very nervous at the sight of a woman. Big mistake on his behalf. This was all propaganda.
Just admit that evolution is absolute nonsense. There is always a maker of ordered functions that life forms also have because objects don't ever do anything without being ordered to do something.
Why don't you ask a scientist rather than an anonymous person on the internet? Scientists devote their lives to studying these things. Why don't you speak to the people you quote mine and lie about to make an informed decision of your own rather than parrot comments made to you by a snake oil salesman like Jerry Falwell, Kent Hovind, or Ken Ham?
@NUTCASE71733 You assume that scientists have the answers and they are the ones causing all of the confusion to begin with.
They spend their lives trying to prove that objects made them what they are. They are being irrational, illogical and unscientific. They have pagan beliefs.
clearly you are trying to make creationists look stupid by pretending you are one of them with your idiotic comments. but no one is fooled. no real creationist would be so ignorant.
@1HumanKind Address the issues. Objects did not make or refine what you are. Think about it. Evolution is not science, it is baseless, irrational and illogical.
@NUTCASE71733 Scientists cannot possibly know about what they are not told unless they think for themselves. Address the issues.
Why are you unable to address the actual issues? It is because there is nothing you can say. Objects did not make or refine what you are and over 100 million cubic miles of sediments did not bury everything living on earth without a global flood.
@jakcloudhighwind apparently we are made in his/her/its image... which would explain why we are stupid as hell. Because IF he/she/it exists... he/she/its is stupid as hell :P
Why the fuck is evolution even included in a political debate? How about they stick to things relevant to the job of a politician. Like economics, foreign relations, how they plan to screw over the people...I mean help the people, etc. Topics related to if you believe in evolution or your personal life has no place in a political debate. Leave science to the schools and scientist.
@systematic101 The question is included as a litmus test to see if someone is at least somewhat educated or intelligent. Huckabee failed this simple test.
@HelixTheThinker Oh dear. This is just a lamentable comment, I'm sorry, but try to be more of an intellectual snob. Then consider that people can hold different opinions from you, be every bit as well as informed as you are, and, gasp, possible be more intelligent than you are. Disagreement does not automatically make someone stupid.
@systematic101 As soon as religiou speople stop whining about the bible not being forced upon kids, people will stop asking canidates about evolution.
It IS an important thing to ask a presidential candidate if he believes in creationism, because it's important to know whether the candidate is an anti-science nutcase.
Nicely edited video. Please make more videos like this so more and more people will start THINKING about their bullshit belief of Goddamn God's existance...
here a question for christians.....how could we possibly teach intelligent design in schools? we would have to assume that teh bible account is the version to go by and rule out the thousand of other creation stories????? get real
@dinopad10 If you watched the video, and don't see it, you may just be too far gone for it to be explained. Listen to the answer he gave in the presidential run, and compare that with the video where he is effectively promoting getting ID into the schools. A pretty obvious contradiction and lie.
No one is dumber than a creationist. Yet the US have two presidential wannabes who are creationists, Hukabee and Palin. Now that's embarrassing. I feel sorry for the great minds in the US who have to put up with this level of stupidity. Why are Americans on the one hand so great and on the other so stupid?
Faith= Willful Ignorance. It should be shut out of any class that seeks to increase knowledge. I have no problem with teaching this shit in a philosophy, literature, or comparative religion class, but we should keep science in science class and religion out of it.
I'll open the doors to debate creationism as soon as we open the door to questioning whether or not the Holocaust occured. I'll open the debate and give equal attention to bullshit as soon as we teach the controversy over geocentrism and whether or not 1+1=2. Until that time, take your Creationism/Intelligent Design and shove it up your ass along with all the other crap you're full of.
How many avowedly atheist presidents have there been?
Huckabee is paranoid to suggest theists are the ones being "shut-out". All must talk about "faith", as if it matters. I want to know about their foreign policy, how they'll clean up the national debt, how they'll balance budgets, how they'll restore freedoms curtailed by the PATRIOT Act, how they'll use the government to help people instead of corporations.
If, or who they pray to is as irrelevant as which playmate they masturbate over.
national debt - we are going to raise it so we can give billions to our friend in government contracts, we need lots of planes and bomb for our foreign policy.
balance budgets - we wont instead we will give tax cuts to the rich and companies.
restore freedoms - why would we do that??
use the government to help people instead of corporations - we are going to do that ether.
I like how he tries to make it seem like it doesn't matter whether he believes in evolution as long as he doesn't change school curriculum. I for one care whether my president is dumb enough to deny scientific fact.
Holy shit this idiocy is downright scary. There is no excuse for it nowadays. If we let these people into office and they water down science, our grandchildren will be working menial jobs for other nations. Holy shit. Please people educate yourselves, and stand up against this age-old, arcane ignorance!
@abyssquick LOOOL u think America is where its at because of education? And other nations make so many products for the west because they are less intelligent? AHAHAHAHAHA
LOL, so ironic, read up on the global conquest of the Brittish empire u idiot.
You could have asked me to clarify instead of the ass-clown routine. You react to something that was not fully what I had meant. Succinct paragraphs on YT hardly represent a full, fleshed-out opinion. No, America is not where it is at because of education. No, other nations do not make things for the USA because they are less intelligent. Our education had become outdated, dismal, and our use of time poorly mismanaged and is getting worse. Education is just one important factor.
@abyssquick Education can be bought and outsourced, the factor that would have Americans in sweat shops is the economy, and we all know how thats going..
Hard to have sympathy tho, even as an Aussie. A gov so corrupt, with so many problems and faults on paper u could think it was a totalitarian dictatorship in the middle east, yet instead of addressing these issues pursues online poker of all things with full force, is obviously just feeling the effects of its mismanagement and stupidity.
His buddy Chuck Norris and some other candidate, (I can't recall his name) will be running in Huckabees place in 2012 and they will be trying to enforce mandatory bible classes for elementary to high school students.
it all sums up to Christians enforcing mandatory cultist Fascism in our schools.
@GodKillerAtheist: you are correct, religion is fascism. They tell you how to think and feel, and how to make important decisions. It's only because of our enlightened liberal (yes, liberty/liberalism) laws that we stop them from torturing and burning dissenters as heretics.
Look at the biblical God and you'll see the finest example of literary dictatorship. That some Americans want this is truly frightening. They should have a deep long look at Iran...
@mambuduomally thanks, it actually scares me that some of these idiots will make it into the office and our future generations will grow up thinking that dinosaurs lived with humans and homosexuals are evil.
religious teachings and books, because there is no other form of evidence for intelligent design, do not belong in science class. what makes the bible any more right than the koran or the ancient egyptian faith views of creation. scientific methods are based on hypothesis+eviidence=theory. scientific reasoning has explained so much, we once lacked the vocabulary to describe what lightning was, why do we think we will never do this with things today we dont understand?
See the jedi mind trick these people are doing? When it comes to *their* views, they cry out for "fairness" and to "open the doors" to the debate, but when it comes to other views, fairness doesn't exist. What would be fair? For them to go through the same painstaking methodology that any other scientific claim has to be made. They call that persecution. Yet when you try to present them with evidence for your side or reasoned arguments they plug their ears and go "UR THE DEVIL". Fair my ass!

My throat is choked... after years of debating, it's useless. I debated Christians more than atheists and at the end of the day, it's human sin. No one wants to be wrong or corrected.
So just give it up. What it really comes down to is whether you want forgiveness and enter heaven. Or you believe that "Greed is good" and live life according to wallstreet.
In evolution theory, Wallstreet should strive, but it's not. Greed is good, but it's not.
Okay - evolutionary theory explains how life diversified on the planet - not how the currently economic ruin came about. You understand this, right?
Pointing out how evolutionary theory can't explain everything in the universe is either ignorant or a deliberate misrepresentation of facts, which could be construed as a lie. Does your god like liars? Didn't think so. For your sake, I hope you are just ignorant.
Right, if anything evolution and game theory do give insights to why we have altruism, morality and sharing, as a species it is better for us. The thing is that the greediest on Wall street are doing well for themselves, at least in the short run they are or were, not for humanity as a whole, so I'm guessing humanity's response to this won't be very good. Wall Street is based on Economics not Biology, when you have false data in economics bad things usually happen, for yourself, please learn.
Wait are you a troll with a dummy account or just new? That has to be the most anti-christian thing I've ever heard considering that Jesus did not condone stoning at all, so this is either blasphemy, satire, or ignorance.
Well there you have it, Jesus really did say "Worship me or my guys wil F%$#ing kill you!"
WRONG, he did not condone violence, this is a parable not his commands, he is talking metaphorically about damnation if he is rejected, something that wouldn't be his fault. HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE, no one is without sin in Christianity so Jesus said "DON'T STONE PEOPLE!"
Go ahead and denie jesus's world all you like. He will make sure to send you to hell where you will constantly feel pain 10 billion times worse then getting your balls crushed into paste with a sledgehammer and the pain increases tenfold every second for eternity. You deserve it anyway for not beliving his word.
What? Geez man, you sure like to use the negative side of Christianity more to try to sway people, Jesus was love, he doesn't WANT to send anybody to hell, it is man that condemns himself. SHOW ME WHERE I SAID I DENIED JESUS. I haven't told you anything and you threaten me with fire and brimstone, I hope Jesus does have mercy on you.
Your jesus seems very cruel. If he sends people into hell because they chose to believe in Buddha, then I don't want such a retarded messiah to be my friend, and certainly not my god :) There are dozens of gods to chose, why the fuck should I believe in one that has been debunked billions of times? Even Krishna seems more mature than some stupid jesus, and yet he is the foundation of your religion, really sad...
Wtf you think your supposed to be "nice" to evil demons that worship false gods???? Are you mentally ill? Thats like giving useing a hungry wolf as a babysitter.
That is not evidence as there are no facts to support it. It is a book and nothing more, if you choose to believe it, then you do that through faith, not rational thinking and science.
There are no facts supporting the bible, which means it is not even a theory, but an extremely poor hypothesis, if that.
People like you are destroying the world, open your eyes and educate yourself, think instead of blindly accepting you sheep.
But what the bible says means nothing unless there is an OUTSIDE SOURCE to say it is true.
That's like me saying "I have a pink unicorn, and everything i say is true" just because i said that what i say is true, doesn't mean it is. You are going to want to see facts to support what i say. The bible has none of these facts.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow you are so slow. Your not god when god says something it has more weight because he is the supreme expert on everything. Your anology is invalid wow you are really slow...
Why does your god have supreme expert status on everything? What evidence shows that god would know anything or do anything? There is nothing to support your opinions outside the bible, and the bible has no fact or evidence to support it.
Please tell me why my argument is invalid, just saying it means nothing, kind of like the bible saying anything means nothing without fact to support what it says.
Of course that is assuming you refer to the Christian Lucifer, if you knew anything about christian dogma you'd know that EVERYONE is considered a sinner. All mankind, that is why Christ said he was the only way. I suggest you 'learn yourself a book' , namely the bible, before you start preaching (satire?) it.
Wow, creationists are really scary. There is no reasoning with them. When you try you soon realice that there is no one home and all you have to work with is a phone machine that doesn't take messages.
Why do some men and women of God lie? Anyone familiar with the teaching of the Bible know that lying is a sin.
Intelligent Design is creationism with some changes in what they accept. ID believes that life was created in its present form, and differs little from when 'the design' created life. It should be called Intelligent Creation, which is what they really me.
That's not a lie under any circumstances. You believe evolution is true but you don't know how old the earth is. Belief and knowledge are two different things and Huckabee is actually being very honest to admit that.
//He believes every word of the bible is literally true...yet he's on stage saying he doesn't know.
Exactly, I believe the bible to be literally true as well, and at the same time I admit that I'm not sure how old the earth is. I believe it's a few thousand years old but I'm willing to allow the possibility that it's much older. There's a difference between being open minded and lying. This is really a stretch to create a lie when there is not one.
Ug. You know what? He was asked what he believed, and he said he doesn't know. Fact: He used to be a southern baptist minister, yet he's on stage saying he doesn't know what he believes? What an outrageous lie. Heck, just by knowing the simple fact he used to be a southern baptist minister, I can tell you exactly what he believes...the earth is about 6,000 years old.
No, he was asked if he believed the earth was 6,000 years old, created in six days, and that's what he didn't know. Just because he's southern baptist, it doesn't prove that he "knows" the earth is 6 thousand years old and saying otherwise. You're fabricating all the lies by putting words in his mouth.
He was asked what he believes, and he said he doesn't know. It's an outright lie, because he damn-well knows what he believes...HE EVEN QUOTED THE BIBLE IN HIS RESPONSE. What more do you want? He wasn't asked how old the earth is, he was asked what he believed. He said he didn't know, then quoted the bible...
And he also lied about fighting for freedom on the campaign trail. Why are you defending him?
I wouldn't defend him for a second, he's a lying politician that probably doesn't have any core beliefs, except that he believes he can win an election if he says he's a christian. It worked for George Bush.
I don't see how you can make a blanket statement about creationist from this. It's a stretch man.
Yea, I can see that, but I have met a lot of YECs like yourself, the difference is they did lie, did censor, did use these things to promote their agenda, but they weren't trying to be president.
The title of this video is very misleading because there are no examples of any lies by ID supporters shown in it. If I missed one, please point out the minute and second where it is and how you know that the person saying it knows what they're saying is false.
Stating your beliefs is making known what you feel is most likely. Obviously you can believe something without knowing for sure. That is the nature of almost everything. That's quite a desperate attempt to label someone a liar based upon nothing.
To mislead people, which he clearly does, is a form of lying. He still avoided the question, which is deceptive. He showed his lack of conviction in belief in the Biblical account by saying "I dont know, I wasnt there."
He can use religion and religious messages to campaign but its unfair to ask him questions about it? Thats a double standard and hypocritical
Dont we want our leaders to 'know for sure'? Would you want your President to say "I dont know, I wasnt there" for every decision?
"this video is very misleading because there are no examples of any lies by ID supporters shown in it."
I establish one of the lies within the first 10 seconds of the video.
At 1:18, Huckabee follows logic which is only followed by biblical creationists. This confirms that he was, in fact, lying on the podium when he said "I don't know."
Also notice how Charmaine refused to answer the question...
"Absolutely not. A reasonable person would never vote for someone who claims to know everything."
Can you read? I did not say know everything. I said know for sure. Do you want your president attacking other countries if he doesnt know for sure WHY to attack?
"I want honesty when asked about something he is unsure of."
Then by your standards, Huckabee was clearly dishonest. He was sure, then he didnt know.
"the ongoing attempt of secularists to control the classroom and shut out the growing evidence of intelligent evidence"
and
"there's growing evidence that the hand of the divine creator was involved in the origin of our universe"
Evidence is not growing. There is none and never has been and its also impossible to have any! What testable hypothesis can you make when you say 'god did it'? Try to get grant money from a univ. on that hypothesis. LOL
Even if those facts aren't true it is not a lie. A lie is presenting something as true when you know it to be false. Where's your evidence that Huckabee believes these things to be false that he's presenting as true?
//Evidence is not growing.
Certainly is. Any person who does a little research will see the great weaknesses of evolution and the growing evidence for a young earth, and uncommon ancestry.
//Do you want your president attacking other countries if he doesnt know for sure WHY to attack?
No, the point is you can't know anything for sure and a president should attack when he has good reason to.
//He was sure, then he didnt know.
Wrong, the only thing he claimed to know for sure was that God created the world. Later he said he wasn't sure how long it took or by what process. No contradiction there.
If youre pinning everything on verifiable proof of what a person 'believes', then there is no way to prove that anyone lies.
"Any person who does a little research will see the great weaknesses of evolution and the growing evidence for a young earth, and uncommon ancestry."
Oh brother. Youre delusional. BTW, if evolution has 'weaknesses' then things like gods, walking on water, living to be 900yo, the sun stopping in the sky, are infinitely worse.
//If youre pinning everything on verifiable proof of what a person 'believes', then there is no way to prove that anyone lies.
No, it's quite easy, you just find them saying a contradiction. Because one of the 2 statements must be false. You don't have to know which one was the true statement.
//Oh brother. Youre delusional.
Ok, arbitrary insults, I can do that too: You're uninformed.
"I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life." (deist)
"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."
Very good quote. Nationally Instituted churches would be horrible. And we are currently feeling the negative effects from the church of evolution that is nationally instituted.
What church of evolution? How is it nationally instituted?
BTW, it doesnt say "nationally institutED", it says "national institutions of". In any case you are ignoring the rest of the quote which says they(churches/religions) are "human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."
How is the theory of evolution 'set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.'?
//you are ignoring the rest of the quote which says they(churches/religions) are "human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."
No, I agree with that part, when speaking of nationally instituted religion.
//I accept evolution. Life has value and purpose for me.
Impossible, if you're referring to 4.5 billion year atheistic evolution.
If you value life and believe in purpose then you believe in God, or are insane. That is the only way to be consistent. To be clear it is not evolution alone that brings these implications, but atheism, which rides on its' back.
"Impossible, if you're referring to 4.5 billion year atheistic evolution."
Well, I only know of one 'kind' of evolution. Its the one that is a scientific fact and is more tested/proven than gravity. Sure, we can observe gravity, and we know its tied to mass but we have no clue HOW it works.
"If you value life and believe in purpose then you believe in God, or are insane."
To believe in a god makes life LESS valuable..bcuz you believe in a greater afterlife.
//Well, I only know of one 'kind' of evolution. Its the one that is a scientific fact and is more tested/proven than gravity.
Correct, micro-evolution is an observed fact and gravity is mysterious. However, you'd have to be ignorant to claim there is only one type of evolution.
//To believe in a god makes life LESS valuable..bcuz you believe in a greater afterlife.
Way to use logic against itself! An afterlife makes life more valuable because your actions here have eternal consequences!
Good, so evolution is an observed fact. Im glad you can at least admit that. What other 'types' of evolution do you know of? If there is an 'atheistic' evolution is there a 'theistic' evolution? Whats the difference?
"your actions here have eternal consequences!"
You can be a murdering rapist and still go to heaven though. Life holds more value when its the only one you have.
Believe/ask forgiveness/repent and youre in is not much consequence.
Macro evo. IS micro evo. Its not a leap, and yes its very logical. If you characterize the obvious as leaps into fairyland, how would you characterize these things:
Flying people, walking on water, rising from the dead(3 days later), surviving in a fish, the sun stopping in the sky, people turning into salt, an entire sea parting, water to wine, turning 5 fish/bread into 5000 and finally, God did it.
How is it a leap into fairyland for changes to happen over time compared to those?
I really cannot believe just how stupid some of these potential political leaders are. Thankfully Huck didn't make it. It would have spelled doom for science education in this country which already has its problems.
No, sorry, if it was make it, science class will continue like they already are... And, since it's can't be worst without having a economical crash in 2014, I think he's only a matter of political selection that is out of the race...
I am sure it was political but the fundamentalist christians have a socio-political agenda that is designed to gain power in all branches of government.
I mean is a form of "Darwinisms" that he's out of the race... Since well, is been a weak politician due to this...
And, seriously, and don't understand why fundamentalist christians want power in the government when the constitution protect us from any form of tyrannies, included tyrannies from theocratis be democatis.
"And, seriously, and don't understand why fundamentalist christians want power in the government"
It is to have influence over the interpretation of the Constitution. Huck himself said that the constitution needed to be revised to reflect "God's Law". Read up on the "Wedge Strategy" and the "Wedge" document. It is alll about remaking American soceity in the image of what evangelical christians think it should be. Its about forcing fundamentalist values on the country.
Remaking the American society on something that only... 51.3% of the population believe in... At this point, is could be considered near unconstitutional, since the separation of church and the states is important in Smerican law, and could a form of tyranny be democracy.
I gonna read the wedge strategy, but I think is rather hypocrite on the constitution... Much more then "In god we trust" and "God bless Americas", with is kind of...A political realm about the religious dimension.
"I gonna read the wedge strategy, but I think is rather hypocrite on the constitution... Much more then "In god we trust" and "God bless Americas",.."
A distinction should be made here. The founders were deists and were not looking to support any one religious affiliation. Fundamentalists like to say that this is a Christian country which is simply not true. Read "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine to get a real sense of what was the prevailing thought.
I made a distinction beetwen something that nearly everybody want to keep (include my because it's sometime use as if it was as empty of sens as "good luck America" or "In luck we trust" but have an historical value) and pure religious work-force in the government to do something like turn Washington into the Vatican in the limit of the constitution...
And, absurdly, I fond the Vatican materialism annyway...
"Ok teach your kids religion in science class. And come Sunday morning when you go to church, 50% of the time MUST be dedicated to teaching the flock Evolution by natural selection. Fair deal?"
It's not that it didn't happen the way I think it should.
It's that it can't happen the way the theory has laid it out. Slow gradual natural selection is not a viable mechanism for the diversity found in the fossil record.
that's it. and it will continue to haunt this hypothesis until it collapeses. However, it will prevail for many years. As long as the grant money keeps comming in.
I guess youtube is made up of atheists and agnostics and just the pure outpouring of what i would call disdain and almost abhorrence of anything doing with religion.
It is not going to replace evolution in schools so why make so many videos of ID getting owned, it will not change my mind on the matter and I will not force my point of view on anyone either, i just wanted to see some videos of ID proponents and I could not find any. You are preaching to the choir so why post so many videos?
Apparently I'm not preaching to the choir because you stumbled by ;)
Also, it's not about atheism or religion. It's about protecting scientific progress. ID is not the belief in a god, but rather creationism re-labeled. Having kids being taught like creationists makes them...well...retarded. The universe is not 6,000 years old, period.
Also, ID proponents have recently introduced several house bills in a couple states trying to teach exactly that. We have to fight back against ignorance.
1. We know Natural selection has limits and that it is not a viable mechanism for the diversity we see around us
2. We now know that the cambrian explosion is even more sudden than we thought and there are no significant life forms found in the precambrian level to have changed into the vast variety of animals we see in the cambrian.
3. although they totally contradict slow gradual change through Natural selection you have no problem!
2 is not, and has never been a problem for evolution. It still took millions of years.
3: Did you ever hear me say "slow gradual change? No. While that is often the watered down, 1 sentence version of the theory, there is a little more to it than that.
Again: wolf to chihuahua in 10,000 years. Rapid change IS possible and HAS been observed in human history. Thus, evolution is a viable mechanism.
oh yeah right, my say so. I wrote a paper on the limits of natural selection.
WOW!!!10,000 years to go from a dog to a .....dog! Amazing at that rate what?
Do you realize that 10,000,000 is only one thousand times as much time. and some how you think that you could go from single celled organisms to all the vast diversity found in the cambrian.
When you said, "it is not a viable mechanism for the diversity we see around us" That was your own say so.
Even a blind man can tell the obvious diversity between wolf and chihuahua. Multiply that by 1,000.
You want evidence? Fine. The human genome project has already demonstrated that human chromosome #2 is the result of fusion of two primate chromosomes. Plus common retroviral insertions between primates and humans confirms common ancestry. Evolution explains both. ID explains neither.
Well, for a over billion years, there was nothing but single celled organisms. Then multi-cellular organisms arose, and here we are today.
Evolution's explanation is quite plausible. Do you have an alternative explanation? How about common retroviral insertions between humans and chimps? That's expected with evolution. Do you have another explanation?
I know what the fairy tale tells you. Use your brain man. Those multicellualar organisms that you speak of are immensely complex creatures. and there are millions upon milliions of them with no significant life forms in the precambrian to speak of.
Natural selection cannot account for that variety. That is why mutations were added later. I do not have any story to tell to explain away observable facts. but the story being told now is bullshit.
You know what...come back when you have a theory that can fully explain chromosome 2, and common retroviral insertions.
You can argue about complexity and other BS all day long, but at the end of the day, evolution explains things that no other theories can. Trying to say the Cambrian explosion was more diverse than previously thought, therefore evolution is all wrong...it's not the most convincing argument...
Oh, ok, excuse me. Overwhelming evidence is mounting up against slow gradual change through natural selection. However, unless I can come up with a hypothesis about some similarities in the DNA of various creatures, I am not aloud to point out the evidence against the current fairy tale.
If I knew how it all happened I would tell every one and go collect my nobel prize.
I actually met Mr Nobel that was pretty interesting.
You haven't provided any alternate theories...you've just been attacking evolution. You're argument that 'evolution doesn't happen in the same way that you think it should' does very little to invalidate it.
Come back when you have an actual theory that explains more than evolution.
You don't need to have an alternative to observe evidence that something didn't happen.
If you were with me in Dallas at the time of a murder in San Fran, then I know you didn't commit the murder. I don't have to know who did, but I can be sure you didn't.
I don't have to know how it happened to observe the evidence and know how it didn't happen. Asking me for an alternative is just trying to distract from the evidence against evolution.
Empty words that only show that you hardly have any notion about what, in science, is meant by "evolution".
Meanwhile, riddle me this: why, according to the Bible, are bats a kind of bird and not a mammal? Can you show me what makes a bat a bird? (Or could you , perhaps, accept that the Bible may be wrong on some counts?)
The bible can be made of blue cheese and the fairy tale of evolution is still a fairy tale.
there is no known mechanism that can account for the diversity we OBSERVE. you can say God did it, or you can say there was imaginary primordial soup that was hit by lightning. you pick.
are you trying to defend the fairy tale of evolution or attack the bible? You obviously understand neither.
Actually I understand both. And I also understand that the ONLY real objection that creationists have against the concept of evolution is that is unbiblical. So in discussions with creationists (like you) I am no longer trying to leave the bible out of it, it is, after all, THE fundamental and ONLY piece of "evidence" for creationism.
So the choice is between a process that HAS been observed and explained on the one hand and "Magic Man did it&q

It seems to me any political organization that includes the word Family in it's title can be perfectly substituted with the word Fundy.

NUTCASE71733 1 month ago
@NUTCASE71733 You assume that scientists have the answers and they are the ones causing all of the confusion to begin with.
They spend their lives trying to prove that objects made them what they are. They are being irrational, illogical and unscientific. They have pagan beliefs.

Why are you unable to address the actual issues? It is because there is nothing you can say. Objects did not make or refine what you are and over 100 million cubic miles of sediments did not bury everything living on earth without a global flood.

Why the fuck is evolution even included in a political debate? How about they stick to things relevant to the job of a politician. Like economics, foreign relations, how they plan to screw over the people...I mean help the people, etc. Topics related to if you believe in evolution or your personal life has no place in a political debate. Leave science to the schools and scientist.

national debt - we are going to raise it so we can give billions to our friend in government contracts, we need lots of planes and bomb for our foreign policy.

religious teachings and books, because there is no other form of evidence for intelligent design, do not belong in science class. what makes the bible any more right than the koran or the ancient egyptian faith views of creation. scientific methods are based on hypothesis+eviidence=theory. scientific reasoning has explained so much, we once lacked the vocabulary to describe what lightning was, why do we think we will never do this with things today we dont understand?

See the jedi mind trick these people are doing? So just give it up. What it really comes down to is whether you want forgiveness and enter heaven. Or you believe that "Greed is good" and live life according to wallstreet.
In evolution theory, Wallstreet should strive, but it's not. Greed is good, but it's not.
God's laughing at our wealth!!!
ngjimmy 3 years ago
Okay - evolutionary theory explains how life diversified on the planet - not how the currently economic ruin came about. You understand this, right?
Pointing out how evolutionary theory can't explain everything in the universe is either ignorant or a deliberate misrepresentation of facts, which could be construed as a lie. Does your god like liars? Didn't think so. For your sake, I hope you are just ignorant.
1n354a 3 years ago 7
Right, if anything evolution and game theory do give insights to why we have altruism, morality and sharing, as a species it is better for us. The thing is that the greediest on Wall street are doing well for themselves, at least in the short run they are or were, not for humanity as a whole, so I'm guessing humanity's response to this won't be very good. Wall Street is based on Economics not Biology, when you have false data in economics bad things usually happen, for yourself, please learn.

"Belief and knowledge are two different things and Huckabee is actually being very honest to admit that."
I think you're being too generous to Huckabee. He believes every word of the bible is literally true...yet he's on stage saying he doesn't know.
Also remember he said he fought for freedom on the campaign trail...when, in fact, his campaign actively worked to silence critics.
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
//He believes every word of the bible is literally true...yet he's on stage saying he doesn't know.
Exactly, I believe the bible to be literally true as well, and at the same time I admit that I'm not sure how old the earth is. I believe it's a few thousand years old but I'm willing to allow the possibility that it's much older. There's a difference between being open minded and lying. This is really a stretch to create a lie when there is not one.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
No, he was asked if he believed the earth was 6,000 years old, created in six days, and that's what he didn't know. Just because he's southern baptist, it doesn't prove that he "knows" the earth is 6 thousand years old and saying otherwise. You're fabricating all the lies by putting words in his mouth.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
He was asked what he believes, and he said he doesn't know. It's an outright lie, because he damn-well knows what he believes...HE EVEN QUOTED THE BIBLE IN HIS RESPONSE. What more do you want? He wasn't asked how old the earth is, he was asked what he believed. He said he didn't know, then quoted the bible...
And he also lied about fighting for freedom on the campaign trail. Why are you defending him?
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
I wouldn't defend him for a second, he's a lying politician that probably doesn't have any core beliefs, except that he believes he can win an election if he says he's a christian. It worked for George Bush.
I don't see how you can make a blanket statement about creationist from this. It's a stretch man.

Huckabee clearly states that he believes God did it all. Then he says "I dont know, I wasnt there." LOL

itry2brational 3 years ago
Do you not understand the english language?
Stating your beliefs is making known what you feel is most likely. Obviously you can believe something without knowing for sure. That is the nature of almost everything. That's quite a desperate attempt to label someone a liar based upon nothing.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
To mislead people, which he clearly does, is a form of lying. He still avoided the question, which is deceptive. He showed his lack of conviction in belief in the Biblical account by saying "I dont know, I wasnt there."
He can use religion and religious messages to campaign but its unfair to ask him questions about it? Thats a double standard and hypocritical
Dont we want our leaders to 'know for sure'? Would you want your President to say "I dont know, I wasnt there" for every decision?
itry2brational 3 years ago
What did he say that was misleading?
//He can use religion and religious messages to campaign but its unfair to ask him questions about it?
He didn't say it was unfair, but irrelevant, and he still answered.
//Dont we want our leaders to 'know for sure'?
Absolutely not. A reasonable person would never vote for someone who claims to know everything.
//Would you want your President to say "I dont know, I wasnt there" for every decision?
I want honesty when asked about something he is unsure of.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
"this video is very misleading because there are no examples of any lies by ID supporters shown in it."
I establish one of the lies within the first 10 seconds of the video.
At 1:18, Huckabee follows logic which is only followed by biblical creationists. This confirms that he was, in fact, lying on the podium when he said "I don't know."
Also notice how Charmaine refused to answer the question...
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
//Dont we want our leaders to 'know for sure'?
"Absolutely not. A reasonable person would never vote for someone who claims to know everything."
Can you read? I did not say know everything. I said know for sure. Do you want your president attacking other countries if he doesnt know for sure WHY to attack?
"I want honesty when asked about something he is unsure of."
Then by your standards, Huckabee was clearly dishonest. He was sure, then he didnt know.
itry2brational 3 years ago
One could also argue that he lied when he said:
"the ongoing attempt of secularists to control the classroom and shut out the growing evidence of intelligent evidence"
and
"there's growing evidence that the hand of the divine creator was involved in the origin of our universe"
Evidence is not growing. There is none and never has been and its also impossible to have any! What testable hypothesis can you make when you say 'god did it'? Try to get grant money from a univ. on that hypothesis. LOL
itry2brational 3 years ago
//One could also argue that he lied when...
Even if those facts aren't true it is not a lie. A lie is presenting something as true when you know it to be false. Where's your evidence that Huckabee believes these things to be false that he's presenting as true?
//Evidence is not growing.
Certainly is. Any person who does a little research will see the great weaknesses of evolution and the growing evidence for a young earth, and uncommon ancestry.

Exactly, and only God knows what eternal consequences that murder and rape had on the lives of others.

No, the point is you can't know anything for sure and a president should attack when he has good reason to.
//He was sure, then he didnt know.
Wrong, the only thing he claimed to know for sure was that God created the world. Later he said he wasn't sure how long it took or by what process. No contradiction there.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
If youre pinning everything on verifiable proof of what a person 'believes', then there is no way to prove that anyone lies.
"Any person who does a little research will see the great weaknesses of evolution and the growing evidence for a young earth, and uncommon ancestry."
Oh brother. Youre delusional. BTW, if evolution has 'weaknesses' then things like gods, walking on water, living to be 900yo, the sun stopping in the sky, are infinitely worse.
Creation science is not science.
itry2brational 3 years ago
//If youre pinning everything on verifiable proof of what a person 'believes', then there is no way to prove that anyone lies.
No, it's quite easy, you just find them saying a contradiction. Because one of the 2 statements must be false. You don't have to know which one was the true statement.
//Oh brother. Youre delusional.
Ok, arbitrary insults, I can do that too: You're uninformed.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
"No, it's quite easy, you just find them saying a contradiction. Because one of the 2 statements must be false."
Do you apply this same reasoning to the hundreds of contradictions in the Bible?
Delusion -a fixed false belief that is resistant to reason or confrontation with actual fact
-an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary
This appears to be a perfect word for your opinion on evolution. Not arbitrary. It happens to be one of the strongest in all of science.

How does it enslave?
How does it monopolize power?
How does it profit?

//What church of evolution?
Public schools
//How is it nationally instituted?
public schools
//you are ignoring the rest of the quote which says they(churches/religions) are "human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."
No, I agree with that part, when speaking of nationally instituted religion.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
//How is the theory of evolution 'set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit?
//How does it enslave?
It enslaves minds by not allowing opposing views to be seen. Its implications enslave humanity by devoiding life of any value or purpose.
//monopolize power?
by stamping out competing ideas through forced propaganda(public schools)
//How does it profit?
power and profit are the same to me. One is used to gain the other.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
Public schools are churches? Clearly one of us doesnt understand the language and how things are defined.
"No, I agree with that part, when speaking of nationally instituted religion."
Unfortunately, thats not what is being spoken of.
"Its implications enslave humanity by devoiding life of any value or purpose."
Thats absolutely asinine. I accept evolution. Life has value and purpose for me. Seemingly more so than religious people give it.
I suppose the theory of gravity is propaganda too.
itry2brational 3 years ago
//Public schools are churches?
Exactly
//I accept evolution. Life has value and purpose for me.
Impossible, if you're referring to 4.5 billion year atheistic evolution.
If you value life and believe in purpose then you believe in God, or are insane. That is the only way to be consistent. To be clear it is not evolution alone that brings these implications, but atheism, which rides on its' back.
Dreammotive 3 years ago
"Impossible, if you're referring to 4.5 billion year atheistic evolution."
Well, I only know of one 'kind' of evolution. Its the one that is a scientific fact and is more tested/proven than gravity. Sure, we can observe gravity, and we know its tied to mass but we have no clue HOW it works.
"If you value life and believe in purpose then you believe in God, or are insane."
To believe in a god makes life LESS valuable..bcuz you believe in a greater afterlife.
itry2brational 3 years ago
//Well, I only know of one 'kind' of evolution. Its the one that is a scientific fact and is more tested/proven than gravity.
Correct, micro-evolution is an observed fact and gravity is mysterious. However, you'd have to be ignorant to claim there is only one type of evolution.
//To believe in a god makes life LESS valuable..bcuz you believe in a greater afterlife.
Way to use logic against itself! An afterlife makes life more valuable because your actions here have eternal consequences!
Dreammotive 3 years ago
"Correct, micro-evolution is an observed fact.."

This comment has received too many negative votes show
//What other 'types' of evolution do you know of?
Ok, we have micro and we have macro. One is proven, the other a huge logical leap into fairy land.
//If there is an 'atheistic' evolution is there a 'theistic' evolution? Whats the difference?
The difference between atheistic and theistic is that God exists or doesn't. While the physical events are the same.
Dreammotive 3 years ago

It would have spelled doom for science education in this country which already has its problems.
jimitl5 3 years ago
No, sorry, if it was make it, science class will continue like they already are... And, since it's can't be worst without having a economical crash in 2014, I think he's only a matter of political selection that is out of the race...
therrydicule 3 years ago
I am sure it was political but the fundamentalist christians have a socio-political agenda that is designed to gain power in all branches of government.
jimitl5 3 years ago
I mean is a form of "Darwinisms" that he's out of the race... Since well, is been a weak politician due to this...
And, seriously, and don't understand why fundamentalist christians want power in the government when the constitution protect us from any form of tyrannies, included tyrannies from theocratis be democatis.
therrydicule 3 years ago
"And, seriously, and don't understand why fundamentalist christians want power in the government"
It is to have influence over the interpretation of the Constitution. Huck himself said that the constitution needed to be revised to reflect "God's Law". Read up on the "Wedge Strategy" and the "Wedge" document. It is alll about remaking American soceity in the image of what evangelical christians think it should be. Its about forcing fundamentalist values on the country.
jimitl5 3 years ago
Remaking the American society on something that only... 51.3% of the population believe in... At this point, is could be considered near unconstitutional, since the separation of church and the states is important in Smerican law, and could a form of tyranny be democracy.
I gonna read the wedge strategy, but I think is rather hypocrite on the constitution... Much more then "In god we trust" and "God bless Americas", with is kind of...A political realm about the religious dimension.
therrydicule 3 years ago
O.k: I got it:
"To defeat scientific materialism and its destructive moral, cultural, and political legacies"...
Well, got luck... Remake 3000 years of science for religion...
therrydicule 3 years ago
"I gonna read the wedge strategy, but I think is rather hypocrite on the constitution... Much more then "In god we trust" and "God bless Americas",.."
A distinction should be made here. The founders were deists and were not looking to support any one religious affiliation. Fundamentalists like to say that this is a Christian country which is simply not true. Read "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine to get a real sense of what was the prevailing thought.
jimitl5 3 years ago
I made a distinction beetwen something that nearly everybody want to keep (include my because it's sometime use as if it was as empty of sens as "good luck America" or "In luck we trust" but have an historical value) and pure religious work-force in the government to do something like turn Washington into the Vatican in the limit of the constitution...
And, absurdly, I fond the Vatican materialism annyway...

how about this....
i'll believe in god when i get to shake his hand

"Ok teach your kids religion in science class. And come Sunday morning when you go to church, 50% of the time MUST be dedicated to teaching the flock Evolution by natural selection. Fair deal?"
-blacbraun (on another video thread)
Any creationist willing to take this deal?
califoniania 3 years ago
Seconded with all my heart.
Or we could just keep religions (emphasis on plural) in social studies class where they belongs.
Legatou0 3 years ago
It's not that it didn't happen the way I think it should.
It's that it can't happen the way the theory has laid it out. Slow gradual natural selection is not a viable mechanism for the diversity found in the fossil record.
that's it. and it will continue to haunt this hypothesis until it collapeses. However, it will prevail for many years. As long as the grant money keeps comming in.
mejc2 3 years ago
I guess youtube is made up of atheists and agnostics and just the pure outpouring of what i would call disdain and almost abhorrence of anything doing with religion.
It is not going to replace evolution in schools so why make so many videos of ID getting owned, it will not change my mind on the matter and I will not force my point of view on anyone either, i just wanted to see some videos of ID proponents and I could not find any. You are preaching to the choir so why post so many videos?
frippery 3 years ago
But let me say that at least you are not overly vicious in your stance.
frippery 3 years ago
Apparently I'm not preaching to the choir because you stumbled by ;)
Also, it's not about atheism or religion. It's about protecting scientific progress. ID is not the belief in a god, but rather creationism re-labeled. Having kids being taught like creationists makes them...well...retarded. The universe is not 6,000 years old, period.
Also, ID proponents have recently introduced several house bills in a couple states trying to teach exactly that. We have to fight back against ignorance.

let's recap
OK good night.
mejc2 3 years ago
Ug. 1 is false...that's just your own say so.
Good night.
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
"Ug. 1 is false...that's just your own say so"
oh yeah right, my say so.
1. not logical
2. not supported by evidence
3. no viable mechanism produces that diversity.
mejc2 3 years ago
When you said, "it is not a viable mechanism for the diversity we see around us" That was your own say so.
Even a blind man can tell the obvious diversity between wolf and chihuahua. Multiply that by 1,000.
You want evidence? Fine. The human genome project has already demonstrated that human chromosome #2 is the result of fusion of two primate chromosomes. Plus common retroviral insertions between primates and humans confirms common ancestry. Evolution explains both. ID explains neither.
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
Nice try, but compared to single celled organisms changing into the diversity found in the cambrian level, wolf to chiuahua is a miniscule change.
Chromosome #2 is certainly appears to be the fusion of two primate chromosomes. Is it evidence of ancestry? No.
Evolution has explanations because they observe things and then make up an "explanation".
mejc2 3 years ago
Well, for a over billion years, there was nothing but single celled organisms. Then multi-cellular organisms arose, and here we are today.
Evolution's explanation is quite plausible. Do you have an alternative explanation? How about common retroviral insertions between humans and chimps? That's expected with evolution. Do you have another explanation?
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
I know what the fairy tale tells you. Use your brain man. Those multicellualar organisms that you speak of are immensely complex creatures. and there are millions upon milliions of them with no significant life forms in the precambrian to speak of.
Natural selection cannot account for that variety. That is why mutations were added later. I do not have any story to tell to explain away observable facts. but the story being told now is bullshit.
mejc2 3 years ago
You know what...come back when you have a theory that can fully explain chromosome 2, and common retroviral insertions.
You can argue about complexity and other BS all day long, but at the end of the day, evolution explains things that no other theories can. Trying to say the Cambrian explosion was more diverse than previously thought, therefore evolution is all wrong...it's not the most convincing argument...
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
Oh, ok, excuse me. Overwhelming evidence is mounting up against slow gradual change through natural selection. However, unless I can come up with a hypothesis about some similarities in the DNA of various creatures, I am not aloud to point out the evidence against the current fairy tale.
If I knew how it all happened I would tell every one and go collect my nobel prize.
I actually met Mr Nobel that was pretty interesting.
mejc2 3 years ago
You haven't provided any alternate theories...you've just been attacking evolution. You're argument that 'evolution doesn't happen in the same way that you think it should' does very little to invalidate it.
Come back when you have an actual theory that explains more than evolution.
HelixTheThinker 3 years ago
You don't need to have an alternative to observe evidence that something didn't happen.
If you were with me in Dallas at the time of a murder in San Fran, then I know you didn't commit the murder. I don't have to know who did, but I can be sure you didn't.
I don't have to know how it happened to observe the evidence and know how it didn't happen. Asking me for an alternative is just trying to distract from the evidence against evolution.
mejc2 3 years ago
So you just close your eyes, plug your ears and shout "lalalalalalaImnotlistening".
But you DO, without question believe everything that's in the bible, don't you?
yaerav 3 years ago 2
The Bible has nothing to do with the fairy tale of evolution. The evidence against this hypothesis is overwhelming and is growing every day.
mejc2 3 years ago
Empty words that only show that you hardly have any notion about what, in science, is meant by "evolution".
Meanwhile, riddle me this: why, according to the Bible, are bats a kind of bird and not a mammal? Can you show me what makes a bat a bird? (Or could you , perhaps, accept that the Bible may be wrong on some counts?)
(ref: Leviticus 11:19)
yaerav 3 years ago
The bible can be made of blue cheese and the fairy tale of evolution is still a fairy tale.
there is no known mechanism that can account for the diversity we OBSERVE. you can say God did it, or you can say there was imaginary primordial soup that was hit by lightning. you pick.
are you trying to defend the fairy tale of evolution or attack the bible? You obviously understand neither.
mejc2 3 years ago
Actually I understand both. And I also understand that the ONLY real objection that creationists have against the concept of evolution is that is unbiblical. So in discussions with creationists (like you) I am no longer trying to leave the bible out of it, it is, after all, THE fundamental and ONLY piece of "evidence" for creationism.
So the choice is between a process that HAS been observed and explained on the one hand and "Magic Man did it&q
