  • It's a really sad song, and makes me want to cry ;[

  • i'm blinded by the awfull choice of video to place that comment on.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOO True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • what happened to there drummer?

  • he left to do ministry with "Soul Sister Sally" There new drummer is "Brian Scoggin".

  • But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  • two thumbs up

  • I used to work 70 hr weeks, but that was because i was an intern. and they could have payed me quadruple time, and it still would have been less than a full time professional engineer.

Either way, it's a great song, i most certainly would take a shack on a rock, over a mansion in the sand.

  • these people that think he shouldnt of quit dont get the meaning of life. I guess what some of these people dont see is you dont need money to be happy or healthy If you have God he will provide. May not be on your standards. But first seek the kingdome of god then the rest will fallow.

  • there will be a day with no more pain no more fears and no more years........,Amen,.......,so let's love our Lord Savior and God with all our hearts minds bodies souls and strengths and all others who are not us like ourselves,....so when He Christ Jesus returns for us He will be pleased and not disappointed in us ,.....,Amen!

  • i look forward to see you in Heaven :) and its hard to stand up for Jesus Christ. So i try and hand out tracks to my friends :)

  • Casting Crowns was at my church this past Sunday night, Mark Hall's( Lead singer) dad is our minister of music at our Church in Eufaula AL.

  • Love this song, because its true

  • awesome song about how if we try to depend on ourselves to long and not on God then we will crumble, a lesson i've learned many times

  • no this song shows what happens when you put work in front of your family

  • I think it shows a little of both . I think you are both right on track. This is my number one favorite song because it also shows how the majority of families are run in this country. Every one wants a bigger house or a bigger car what ever it is they want a bigger and better one and they don't care what the cost is.

  • notice how though, he thinks that work work work provides better things for his family, making them happier. But in the end he ends up losing them. In stead of just quiting, and making time for his family, he could have put god in the picture, and i believe he could have provided for his family and been with them, but thats my opinion.

  • putting Your Family in poverty is worse than overworking. Cant really spend quality time with children when they are malnourished and sick. What he should do is put his work in perspective not quit. The video really has nothing to do with god. I have seen Pastors do the same thing to their families if not worse. This is all about having a healthy dose of work family and social life.

  • I think this has to do with false idols. Not working.

  • his family wasn't in poverty and his children weren't sick were they?

My dad is on almost minimum wage - my brother gets more than him with uni grants! But we're fine. We're happy with what we've got. My Dad is trying really hard to spend time with us. And my parents take good care of 4 kids.

We have God. He provides all we need. So maybe life isn't all about providing lots and lots of money for your family. Maybe it's about loving your family - almost as much as you love God!

  • I'm not saying we shouldn't work

But you're missing the point of the song - "Jack" spends no time with his family, he is all work, nothing else. He wants to provide for his family, but he's actually doing the exact oposite.

He has no God in his life. He's more concerned with money that God and family. They're much more important.

  • another point of the song is he's putting his hopes in himself instead of putting his hopes in god.

  • that's what all the sand castles mean

    no firm foundation

  • cristin store

  • noyt mine. but its a lot of rock. like the sound and the words...kinda sad story in the beggining. I am pretty sure I have heard a song like this on Hot 103 when i used to listen to it...like the lyrics. mabey..I reconize the sound of it.

  • god bless evyone

  • A melhor musica de casting crowns...

  • i love this song

  • 'cept i'm not sure how realistic the message is. i just finished grad school and am looking for banking jobs, and those requiring the fewest hours are something like 8am-10pm. it's impossible to know what kind of career the future will hold, so if i got married, what do i say, sorry i'll quit my job we'll just make do on a janitor's salary?

in the 1950s, dads had their own businesses, but the economic landscape has changed such that you have to find employment & work outside the home.

  • It's not saying that being at work is bad. It is saying that working is fine, but treasure the time you have with your family.

"all they really wanted was you" - quality time, not quantity time.

but the song is also saying that the dad's efforts were focused in the wrong place. He should have focused on God's kingdom and heavenly treasures, not on earthly kingdom and treasures that fades away. God may still want him to work as much, but the dad's heart that was not in the right place

  • 8am to 10pm is 14 hours. a day which makes a 70 hour work week if you work 5 days a week. No one works a 70 hour work week because no employer can afford to pay that much overtime. I have worked many desk jobs if you have to work 70 hours someone is doing something very wrong. Almost every middle class job is 9-5. It is called being able to tell your boss no to OT when you have something important to do like be in your families life (trust me some person without a family will take those hours).

  • Work salary with no overtime and you can see it. I did it years ago in retail. 9 hours a day for 6 days a week. It wears you down in time and you hate the job more and more.

  • 426sports, would you like me to rewrite the comment? If so I will. By the way, I find it interesting that you care. I mean it's Youtube, not a novel!

  • randomanna1:

No it's not a novel, however that doesn't mean we should abandon all attempts at speaking properly. The internet is not just a place to watch videos on YouTube and spell badly because nobody [should] care.

People do care, it makes you look like a moron when you don't expend the tiny effort it takes to write properly. You don't have to be perfect, I'll agree this isn't Oxford, but at least speak like a human.

And the "judgment" of him is that he's chasing the wrong dream.

  • dis song is a lil unfair. it makes the man look lik a bad guy. he wants wats best 4 his fam.he just cant see wat dat is. casting crowns has a song called duz nebody hear her. its about not judgin ppl. dis song judges ppl like the man. i still luv casting crowns. i evn kinda lik dis song cuz it reaches out 2 kids nd women whose dad/husband r lik dis.

  • OK, enough with the EBONICS. please speak and WRITE in english. This is one of the reasons our country is falling apart.

  • yes change is all we currently have left

  • change is not all we have ,,,,, Christ is all we have!

  • i dont think its judging him

its just talking about biding riches on this world in steed of in heaven and he dosent realize that by working all the time he is actually doing the worst for his famly.

  • I don't think they're judging him. The man doesn't want whats best for his family. The man wants money.. he wants the big house, the fast car, the nice clothes. His concern is on money, not his family. A happy family doesn't need money. Then he realizes he needed to spend more time with his family.. rather than trying to make money.

  • It is not judging him it is saying that he is becoming over whelmed with the money and thinking about money even though he should be putting his FAMILY first!! He got soo worried thinking that money was what was best for his family but really it is not money breaks people apart not brings them together!

  • it's on the first casting crowns cd, it comes with a dvd

  • An amazing message that many in this world today and tomorrow would do well to remember.

It is not through money or possessions that we find God and love. It is through the passion of our heart and the steadfastness of our soul.

  • God shows us he loves us everyday just the little things in life he does for us everyday. if it wasnt for him we wouldnt even be here!!!

  • I believe God had enabled this band to be one of the best bands in Christian music! Their lyrics are so true and powerful to those who are trying to press forward in this life and those who believe!

  • Amen to that Kira! Stop by sometime, you'll like what we have to share with you.

    =Dave (Three Nails)

  • i love casting crowns and this song its so good

  • i love this song too! i think this song is true for a lot of people. which is sad. but i love that casting crowns sings about it to help people get through things like these!

  • Praise God for his amazing grace

  • This song reminds me so much of the life i had growing up. My Dad was always working to give us everything. I had every material thing you could ever want growing up. But the thing I wanted most of all we didn't have our Dad. Things are a lot better now because our family life is based on Gods love for us now instead of the material things he was worried about giving us. I won't ever be able to thank God enough for that.

  • does anyone know cd this song is on

  • It's from the album Casting Crowns

  • I heard this song a year ago. God was screaming at me through these lyrics - especially "Things will get better - just take a little more time". I had told my family that for years. Yet they weren't getting better - travel and stress had become the norm, not the exception. I'm sure God sent this song to me as a message.

I have now changed jobs to something that pays a lot less but has no travel and much less stress. I feel right with my family. Praise God, he works in amazing ways.

  • I love this song. It's so true. So very true. May life's worries take all our focus and joy. Let us always remember what truly matters.

  • This song has such a strong message. True riches doesn't consist of the abundance of things. True riches are a real dynamic relationship with God, and family. When one is on his or her deathbed. He or she isn't going to want to see that Rolex watch he or she bought. He or she will want to see family, and tell them how much they are loved.

  • i absolutely love this video.

i cry everytime i see it.

  • I luv casting crowns they are awesome.

    their vids are soooo inspirational:)

  • at the end, the family doesn't look to happy. They look as if they don't actually love each other. They arn't smiling or anything.

    Luv this son anywayz.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah I noticed that too, now is the rebuilding time for them which is why I dont thing she was so quick to forgive him, but at least they are together.

  • sad :'(

  • That is why it matters what we do here in our short time. God bless.

  • its so easy to get caught up in the world.....my husband is a truck driver, and gets caught up in the stress at times. but, thats when he says a litle prayer and goes on....we are in church every sunday. this life is just temporary. better things await. GOd bless you who posted this video.

  • a couple of years ago my youth group did a play and this was the song that we used. I could never remember the name!! Thank-you Casting Crowns!!!!!!!

  • this music video made me cry! :( ;( but i love this song!!!

  • me too! the part where he see his son's drawing

  • As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!! Luke 6:48-49 He is like a man building a house who dug down deep, and laid the foundation on a rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and doesn't put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.

definitely helps me out when i need a little extra. thank you all and god bless.

  • I love this song SO much. To me it means that God is more important then any material things. Which is so true.

ANd just because you sinned doesnt mean he won;t forgive you. All you have to do is believe in him and not worship anything else and ask for forgiveness.
