  • it sure is rainy =D

  • 2:13 was amazing! Wow, it sounds clear and high at the same time and woke me up. Good control, I love your tone (like everyone else).

  • Beautiful I play this on sax truly a great peice Theree should be more jazz Clarinet. Its mainly associated with Classical

  • sehr schön :)

  • Astrud Gilberto did a wonderful recording on that piece, BTW.

  • You have a lot of discipline and taste. The sound is very good. Congratulations ! If you play this piece more often you'd gradually gain confidence for the intended rythm and (I'm sorry) concentrate more on emphasise on the tone (and in parallel hearing thinking of the lyrics ?) than simply sticking to the metronome. I've heard a lot of masters dealing free on the time intervall and yet creating that special feeling !

  • @samois2010 Funny I thought the same the more I watched ?

  • Wow. I really wish I would have learned to play clarinet.. and this means a lot, considering I'm a bass player. And everyone knows how cool bass is!

  • Clarinet Jazz, the best jazz there is!

  • Listen to the Benny Goodman 1976 in Prague recording of this lovely tune. On a German system clarinet! But is not the key in G ( for clarinet in the key of A)???

Jan Morks sure is one of the best !

    Art Marshall

  • Well, the tone is brilliant - unquestionably. What is more of a puzzle to me is whether or not you are actually playing this. There are numerous points throughout where your breathing does not match, as well as a number of fingering mistakes (although if this has been faked you've certainly gone to pains to learn most of it).

1:21 is a prime example. These notes are simply not being played. That said, I realise that videos can be out of sync with the audio - if this is genuine then hats off ! :)

  • Hi, the Video is not synchron with audio-recording. There is a time-shift of one or two seconds. Im sorry this was my first video, its not perfect. But you can rest assured this is genuine.

  • Love this did this song for school jazz band.

  • intonation! you are sharp

  • It sounds good, which microphone did you use to record this song?

  • Thank you very much. I am using a small diaphragm condenser microphone t.bone SC180. The manufacturer is Thomann a german music store.

  • What mouthpiece are you using? NIce open tone for this musical style.

  • Nice performance!

  • Nice performance!

  • I know you're not really playing...

    you're cool!

  • That was some very good intonation and sound quality! I just want to know what Clarinet you used!!??!!

  • Thank you very much. It's a german system. The manufacturer is "Schreiber", the type "D41".

  • @clarinetchum You need more aural training, this guy plays sharp on some parts of the istrument 'in fact his very first note is sharp' listen again.

  • Now, i want to play clarinet!!!!

  • It is not an Albert, sometimes called simple system, clarinet. Have a close look. There are too many keys to be simple and the "octave"/12 key is on the side and not on the top of the instument.

No, it is an Oehler, sometimes called German system ,and enables the musician to navigate easily between saxophone or even Boehm system clarinet and back.

They have a very big bore, producing a huge sound, and are popular with classical players in Europe.

  • Hah Albert key system. Good stuff.

  • Did you notice that's an Albert system clarinet??

  • ohh dude, u have the nicest tone i have ever heard

  • i have heard even nicer tones.l.. actually i know some one with a nicer tone !

  • Great...

I know a trick who plays that black stick for two dollars a pop!

  • Good job I own Band in a box too I have made some original

songs ..and I really love this song Today is a rainy day here in Ga. and I was thinking about this tune ,thanks for sharing.

  • omg the clarinet is so beautiful i play the clarinte myself this is my 3 year and i i just joined the jazz group/band today and i love the sound of there beautiful music and talent

  • congratulations :)

  • nice tone man. All the best, Mateusz

  • Does anyone know a good website to find jazz sheet music for clarinet?

  • whys the clarinet sound so roomy? lawl.

    great sound, i like it.

any post pro effects on it?

  • OMG dude you have a great tone quality. one day i hope i can be as good as you!

    Go Clarinets!

  • OMG i'm jealous of ur virbrato.

    hardest thing everrr to learn.

  • I like your sound

  • I dont know if you have any experience in this matter...but im looking to switch from trumpet to either tenor saxophone or clarinet. Do you recommend doing clarinet first? (I heard its better to do that).

  • I've heard that the clarinet ruins your saxophone embrochure. I seem to get by pretty well on both, but I mainly play alto (Trying to beat it with tenor) and started on it. Sometimes it takes a while to switch, especially when playing longer periods

  • Um, i play a bass clarinet (i've started with clarinet then switched), and i also play an alto sax. the order i'd do is clarinet, tenor, to trumpet. the only thing is yes, learning the notes, but the embouchure. clarinet=firm, tenor=firm to dropping your jaw/relaxed, and a trumpet is=real firm to loose/relaxed. something like that.. but because of the embouchure, i'd go in that order. good look learning the notes and remembering them. :P! i think in time, you'll remember the notes for each one.

  • I have noticed you and other clarinetists use head phones when playing with automated accompaniments. Do you feel it helps in synchronizing with the music otherwise you may have rhythm problem?

  • Hello, it' s necessary for a good recording. On the clarinet-track i want only heare the clarinet and no accompaniments. So i must listen the playback-music over the headphone.

  • i like to use vibrato, it adds a lot when youre sitting on a note. however, theres sometimes that it just doesnt sound right. use your best judgement, and if it doesnt sound quite right, adjust.

  • Are you using an ALBERT system clarinet? Do they still make those? O_o

  • Hello, it's a german system. The Albert-System is very rare. I'm not sure, but I think they produce this clarinets not any longer.

  • wow man ur an amazing clarinet player!

  • If a clarinet can play jazz as wonderfully as this, and also play classical as wonderful as it can, it is truly under appreciated.

  • Very nice :D

Doesn't look like a Boehm system clarinet, though - Albert perhaps?

  • wow, what a nice sound and tone quality.A you doing vibrato?

  • clarinet can sound so great, you sound great, I have a clarinet coming in mail on monday, can't wait..

  • Hi, that's the right decision. I'm sure you have great fun with your new clarinet :-))

  • Very nice ; I have already heard it played by Paul Desmond (sax) and it was great.

  • Absolutely perfect about intonation and performance.

I think you are a professional, but, otherwise, as an amateur you are a genius!

  • Very nice sound. What microphone are you using, if you dont mind me asking?

  • Thank you very much. I am using a small diaphragm condenser microphone t.bone SC180. The manufacturer is Thomann a german music store. I recorded this tune with a Mackie Onyx 1620. Greetings

  • Sounds terrific!

Do you play sax as well? I wonder how the transition is from alto sax to Bb clarinet. I want to play both instruments :)

    Great playing!

  • The transition isnt bad at all. I went from Bb clarinet to alto sax and the only effort that i had to put in was to learn the notes, and the upper register and the upper register on the clarinet and alto are the same so its not a big deal at all.

  • Thank you very much. Yes I play sax as well. But my first instrument was the clarinet. I think the transition from cl to sax is a little easier than the other way round.

  • Where do you get your sheetmusic?

    You sound great

  • Thank you very much. I have many Real- and Fakebooks. If I don't find them in this books, I transcribe it, just like in this case. Greetings

  • Very nice.

  • clean and beautiful sound!!

    Nice~^^

  • what kind of clarinet is that? buffet-crampon R-13

  • It's a german system. The manufacturer is "Schreiber", the type "D41".

  • Nice!

  • Nice,wished i could play like it..nice one

  • Although the lower tone is very nice some notes when using vibrato are fluctuating way out of tune and then it is hard to keep it in tune!

Not a very challenging piece either!

  • Wonderful tone and feeling!! (The sound is a fraction of a second ahead of the video though, which makes it really hard for another clarinetist to watch)

I wish I had your tone! Wonderful control of the instrument. Thanks for posting!!

  • Thank you very much :-))

  • That's really cool.

    :D

  • Thank you for you videoantwort. You do need a jazz band to come out in full. Great technique. good luck and success.

    Take care

    Bob from Canada
