  • ooooo my god is good xd!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and how can you limit the rotation of the hitboxes???

the constraint limit rotation seems not to work o.0

  • gast jij bent gwn hartstikke nederlands!!

  • why do you always rig penis in armature tuts? :|

  • when setting like this, does it still able to use it a common armature? like quick switching between manual animation and a game engine animation?

  • how t add a hitbox?

  • @thelman43

    watch the video xD

  • how do you get the first shape you had up there?

  • thank you ver much i always wanted to know how this was done :)

  • Everybody !!! Realtime ragdoll now work in 2.5 !!! Just search "Blender 2.5 ragdoll" on youtube !!!

  • how did you set up your "very bsic armature"?

please let me know because there are multiple ways of doing this.

    greetz- Ankz

  • nice dutch acscent

  • so i would not be able to add a ragdoll to my game since it doesnt work in real time?

  • No, only the blocky ragdolls work in realtime in the game engine.

  • @aegis3d

or u have a High End PC!

    like me^^

  • I've got a high end system. (quadcore, 8 gig ram, 2x ati 3870 OC) so that's not the problem.

Armature ragdolls just wont work in the game engine. Because they need the IPO curves that are recorded in the game engine. And can only be played back afterwards.

  • @aegis3d

but i saw a guy who can play with Armature ragdolls in game engine!

    i post the Link!

  • Please send me a pm with the link.

  • @aegis3d

i made an armature ragdoll watch my videos

  • Comment removed

  • when i start game engine nothing happens

    1

  • oh, so thats how u make a ragdoll.....

  • Hey, nice tut! I was wondering one thing about how you set up that armature rig. How did you make it so that dragging around one armature on the end pulled the other ones with it?

  • That's called inverse kinetics. Try to find th IK button.

  • how did you create the armature you started with because there are multiple ways i don't know how to do it

  • space>add>armature

  • i mean how its sticking to the object i know 2 ways 4 it but that ways doesn't work

  • What about self collission? is there any way to prevent that easily without overworking your processor?

  • The boxes do all the collision, and being boxes, they are easy to calculate.

  • Hey. I know why it doesn't work in the game engine. Copy rotation doesn't work in the game engine (sucks, I know). Is there some other way to copy the rotation.. maybe parenting? Python could do it probably.

  • @spewboy2 doing that would be something like:

    getObject "target object"

    Xtargetobject = target object.getXRotation

and so on for y and z values...

    getObject "affected object"

    Xaffectedobject = affected object.getXRotation

    then finally

    Xaffectedobject = Xtargetobject

not exactly those words, but along those lines.

  • ive watched this video since you first posted it and i have the same problem everytime i do this....when u start the GE my HitBoxes jus flop around inside of the armature....how do i fix this?

  • you should simulate without the armature and mesh around it, so dump those in layer 2, simulate the hitboxes in layer 1, and put the armature and mesh back in layer 1. Or try making the mesh a ghost in the game engine.

  • nice i watched ragdoll maddness.

And this tute helped a lot thanks

  • Great tutorial, answered all of my questions on this topic so far. 5 stars

  • help plyz

  • ok, what do you want to know?

  • WOW thanks i am amazed!

    how did you learn that?

  • I've figured out this one all by myself! :)

Although month3d helped with filosofiing about how to do this.

  • HI! I tried to do it just like in your tutorial , but somehow my model just gets totaly messed up.^^

Could you please provide a download of your .blend file for learning purposes. please please please =)

  • do you think you could you show us how to MAKE THE ARMATURES!!!!! >: (

  • There are a LOT of tutorials on how to make armatures.. just google it..

  • space add armature.

    Jayden.

  • Is this made for the Game Engine?

  • No, it's an animation technique, it doesn't work in real time

  • You should put an annotation at the start that mentions that it doesn't work in real time. This is a nice technique but unfortunately wasn't what I was looking for.

As far as I know there is still no way for real time armature rag-doll =(

  • I like the live commentary, but I find it unclear what the tutorial was about until I watched the whole thing, so you might want to put a finished result at the beginning to show what you will end up with. Also, you should state what buttons you are pressing and some general concepts.

  • Thanks,

Yeah.. i know i should explain more stuff, but consider this: if someone wants to make an armature ragdoll they should be quite capable with blender. And i kinda get annoyed with those tutorials that tell you to press a bunch of keys, and you'll end up with something pretty, without really knowing what you just did..

  • I see what you mean. If you were to explain things the way they were meant to be explained you would have to offer almost like a full university sized course just for a rag doll arm? So maybe what you should do is just explain any stuff that is not commonly used and include the preview at the beginning of the tutorial. Your rag doll stuff is pretty cool though.

  • I hate thoses Im learning blender and I have been self teaching and I understood everything you ment A+ =)

  • Hey can you send the blend file or something, because I tried to follow your tutorial and it didn't work?

  • ok my hitboxes are not going through the big box? any help

  • what big box?

  • Dude ur the best! Ive been trying to do that for like.....ever!

    keep giving tutorials please! cya!

  • this is a grate tut thnx

  • u need python 2.5.2 that happened to me. also watch ur poly's and mabye ur textures because on vistas the textures lag and lag and lag unless u have a good version

  • when i play the game in blender (hit p) the program shuts down...and don't blame my computer. i have the latest gear in computers.....i have a great computer....please help me out!

  • Have you got the newest versoin of blender/python/gpu drivers? And arent you trying something ridiculus in the game engine?

(just curious, what are your specs?)

  • yes i have the latest drivers and stuff like that......

    pc specs:

    intel core2 duo

    8800gts gfx card

    400gb hard drive

i mean what else do you need to know? and what do you mean by "something ridiculous in the game engine"

  • the game engine can't hande that many poly's.

Do you have your pc overclocked?

  • y are you trying to blame my computer......not gonna happen....maybe its because of allot of polly's...any way to fix that?

  • The blender game engine works for most people, but not for you, so it's something with your computer. How many vertecies has the object your trying to use in the game engine?

  • i need help rigging my rag doll thing.....for some reason it doesnt work....

  • Man, it might not be trivial for a non-blender user to follow this tutorial, but you don't know how desperate I was to get this info. I think there should be a link in the blender tutorials page that comes here, because even if they're not the best tutorials, they're actually one of the only online info for armature ragdolls. Thanks very much for your time and I really appreciate your work.

  • this is a terrible explanation

  • an easier way is to make your charecter seperate the body part you want to be the ragdoll and rig all of them and add a constrain ive done for my very own gta

  • The whole idea of this ragdoll is to NOT seperate the bodyparts..

  • wat r the little armatures in that are parented to the boxes for? It'll work fine without them, right?

  • I've tried copying the location and rotation directly from the hitboxes, but the rotation always got messed up. With me it worked a lot smoother with the bones. (and you have more conrol, you can still move the bones inside the hitboxes even after simulation)

  • one last comment, my limb thing collided with the cubes, so I moved the limb to the second layer, did the simulation in layer 1, and it worked :D. This method is a lot faster than all the others, and so far it's definately my favorite. Thank you very much.

  • Yeah i forgot to tell that, or you need to simulate in the 2nd layer (i do that with the masterchief simulation). Or you can make your normal rig an ghost in the game engine.

  • when i do copy rotation and location, my armature is going perpendicular to the box. What should i do?

  • If you work with more complicated rigs you'll need to rotate all the hitboxes until your rig looks normal again

  • Hahaha what are the odds that I stumble upon this tutorial on *the day it comes out* :D. Just what I've been looking for thank you thank you thank you.

  • I did not understand one thing about that! I'm glad that smart are around to show the rest of us :)
