Quest 64 was bad, sure... but I give it props for NOT having cutscenes.

Too many RPG developers *cough* SQUARE *cough-choke* seem to think that cutscenes are more important than gameplay. A good cutscene is fine, but many recent games but SO DAMN MANY of them in there. Totally puts me off of the genre nowadays.

Quest 64 is pretty bad mostly because of it's lack of stuff, but Xplay should have given it something however. It had one of the best idea's for a magic system to be used and it's pretty upsetting that no other games has even tried to recreate it into a better light.

Number one is spot-on. What makes it so awful is that aside from the horrid sword-swing, the game itself is actually not bad at all. I mean it wasn't stellar but there are far worse games out there.

But yeah, Lagoon is proof positive that all it takes is one major flaw to completely break a game.

Wow they disliked Quest 64? Get the fuck out of here I played the shit out of that game and loved it! The story was different and unique, the gameplay was different and unique, the graphics were different and unique, over-all it wasn't some fucking typical turn based RPG that everyone played! It wasn't Final Fantasy 4029023, it wasn't Zelda, it wasn't Lufia or Star Ocean or Phantasy Star - but this game was fucking amazing! I was VERY pleased with Quest64! I still have a damn good copy!

I had a friend that used to talk up Quest 64 so much I finally borrowed it from him and played it. I gave it back a few hours later. And I agree with this list but its hard to listen to someone say these games sucks when that same person gave Final Fantasy XIII a 4 out of 5. Thats a near perfect rating for a game that warrants about a 2, 2.5 at best.

I hate how in Beyond the Beyond, one of your toughest characters gets hit early on with a curse that makes him randomly do nothing like one out of every five turns, and how you have to spend half of a long game trying to cure him, and how you don't get to beat the villain who did it to him until the very very end even though the manual made it seem like she was only fourth or fifth in command.

What's sad is that despite its MANY faults, I actually like Quest 64. Beyond the Beyond was BEYOND possible for me (yeah I went there), the infamous RE rate mixed in with the difficulty spikes and not knowing where to go once you get to a certain point in the game... the memories.

Quest is 64 definitely NOT one of the worst RPGs ever. I loved this game as a kid, and I enjoy it now. Music may not have been above par, but I loved the magic system as well as other concepts it had. Lagoon impossible for me to enjoy playing? I think they failed there. I did say at one point that if Lagoon didn't have the music it had, the game would've bombed. Sometimes, playing a video game from an adult's point of view feels much inferior to playing it from a child's point of view.

Lagoon's gameplay and ending were both atrocious, but the soundtrack was pretty good. Hard to say which version's soundtrack was better though, the Sharp or the SNES.
