its interesting to come from watching the 2010 routines to the 2003 ones, how the styles have changed/whats popular and whats not. i think i prefer the style of these ones, much more unique
and just quietly loving the aussies having a chant in the background here ;)
I really like parts of her gymnastics...and I dislike others. She has a lot of trouble actually locking her legs into proper extension, and she tumbles way too low to the beam; there's a lot of heaviness in her. I also really don't like the amount of tension she holds in her wrists, which just looks over the top.
I agree that she was not very powerful, but she had other strengths as a gymnast. I liked her beam, though. hand flicking is par for the course these days, but at least she did an original routine instead of that cookie cutter crap that passes for beam these days.
she wasnt selected for the team. There were a number of really amazing gymnasts left off the team, including individual world gold medalists and a 2x national champion who was also a previous Olympian. Hollie was injured and that gave her some trouble at the final selection camp. She might have made it on the team if USAG didn't attempt to break their gymnasts in half to see who was left standing at the end.
Hollie quit gymnastics for a while and now she's competing for OU.
I hate the selection process since 2000: it's grueling -- like 1992 (which basically broke the spirits of the gymnasts, who competed as anything but a team). The only difference is that at least in today's world, it's official that the team is hand-picked -- as opposed to being determined by the judges alone. Unfortunately, Marta Karolyi has had a couple of misses at the Olympics -- whatever might be said about the Worlds. That's the trouble with 3-up, 3-count. ANY team can win ...

Urgh hate her hands: all that flicking her wrists is awful; it DOESNT look "artistic" at all. Problem with Hollie she had too much flexibility and not enough power. Her dismount is really "soft", if you get me, hence the reason she never stuck it.
@TsubasaDreams I agree, her dance elements on floor were her saving grace but the power isn't as good as the other girls. She is beautiful to watch though.
@TsubasaDreams I agree, I'm wondering if she had to fulfill some requirement by doing a salto dismount? No idea, but yeah her twisting tricks are stunning. Her dance ability is her saving grace on floor, no one is as elegant as Hollie.
Her "mostepanova" at 0:32 sucked big time.
