He needed to be able to sound very sexy when he sang. I think we can agree no one could have looked or sounded sexier than Gerry. Man, why did Christine go with the wimpy Raoul? I would have stayed with him :)

He was in his own rock band before Phantom of the Opera, so he did sing before then, just not as well. For PotO he took singing lessons to make his voice better. They actually casted him before they found out he could sing.
OMG Gerard Butler is sooo sexy. i started to like him after i saw dracula 2000 now i have almost every movie he has been in!!! lol my fav movie he was in was the phantom of the opera (ijust got it!!!=)) he was soo sexy in that movie and his vioce XD!! *faints*
