Neil filmed his video in the Saddle Sore Saloon in Norco, CA. That is Prarie Prince from The Tubes on drums and playing the wino dad, LOL I believe Dave Gleason, the guitarist in Neil's video arranged the Jugtown tune for his version. I like how Dave added the Buck Owens-ish "Who's Going To Mow Your Grass" type fuzz guitar lick. Awesome.
This was indeed the version that Neil Hamburger was inspired by. There is also another version by Buddy Knox, that has a completely different ending verse that is much less forgiving of the alcoholic lifestyle.
The New Kingston Trio was actually a different group than the Kingston Trio...only one member in common.
