Mr Marriott helped me through my darkest hour ....this tune shares my pain and found my soul..and today we are richer for his talent but poorer because how good could he have been....
i know it's three years after you uploaded this track, I have to say that I bought the album it is on when I visited the states in 1980 and still consider the american side to be simply brilliant, as 21modgirl says the most incredible raw white soul voice
I also saw him with his band, in Bideford of all places late 1980s, the man had presence, a tragic loss but remembered through this music, his legacy
Stevie marriott posesses the most incredible raw white soul voice i have ever come across. Started as a small faces fanatic, which led me onto attend the small faces conventions,, then fell upon humble pie recordings, and utimately discovered this albumn, and this unreal track, not only is marriots voice executed to perfection but his outstanding guitar ability is truely demonstrated! unreal!
This song proves it to me: Steve Marriott was the best blue eyed soul singer ever. He's my number one in a list that includes Paul Rodgers, Steve Winwood, Mike Harrison, Frankie Miller and Terry Reid and he's also my number one singer in a list that includes Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke and Sam Moore.
this is a great album i have it in my collection! and yes you don't hear to much of it on here i'll try & post some of mine on here!! the song ( a star in my life ) 1st song side 1 of the album was spot lited in the movie mother, jugs&speed from the same year 1976! it stared bill cosby, harvey ketel raquel welch, larry hagmen an action comedy about ambulance drivers thanx k.c.
Another person on the tube has already mentioned this but I.m going to repeat it. Marvin Gaye thought that Steve was black. Marvin freaking Gaye thought he was a black man singing. Now sit and chew on that for a moment. Incredible voice that's for sure.
If I may recommend Steve's previous band Small Faces. Check this out, they were fab, really.
There are some cool video footages on youtube.
I personally love Tin Soldier (it's mimmed but who cares ;-)), I can't make it, All or Nothing, Rollin' Over, Song Of A Baker
and for great vocals although without video: Afterglow of Your Love, Every Little Bit Hurts, if I Were a Carpenter, oh and You Need Loving (for the pure fact that Plant ripped him off in Whole Lotta Love ;-))
cd is just called 'Marriott' - its on amazon - cover shows Steve with union jack and star spangled banner behind him - Half the album is recorded in the uk - the other in the us. Supposedly vaulted in the mid 70's and got a release around 2000
Ello mate - A side uk recordings B side US recordings - released 76' but only released on CD in 02' I believe..I absolutely love this track! I'll take a listen to anything by Humble Pie - I dont have a great deal of stuff on them or Marriott - I'm not a huge Small Faces fan. I prefer him in Pie. Espec after Frampton left coz its like he got to do anything he wanted. Much like Terry Reid - I love the way he can stray vocally all over the place and make it sound fantastic - and his range....wow!
I take my hat of to you Jason...Just in after a dull day at work...Pissed off...Put this on grabbed a cold 1...guess what? Feel better already...Cheer's man...Billy...
Welcome back from work! I'm quite lucky on the work side of things!I can get away with listening to my daily grab off the net whilst being a guard on intercity trains between Norwich and London. In fact most days to and from London Liverpool ST i'm mostly found trying to have a crafty 'ciggy' and singing my lungs out in the brake van! lol...when my duties are fully carried out obviously...lol. I love this song. I used to live his version of Stay With Me Baby - till I heard Terry Reid's version!

Excelente versiòn. Un poco "gritada" pero es el estilo de Steve Marriott. Un tema por si mismo impecable.

I love this, when Steve would sing like this. The blues just bleeding from him. Sexiest sounds made by anyone. <3
