  • CRASH BANDICOOT!!!

  • I LOVE PS1!

  • Next monday my startup can have 4 boxes.

  • i had a eargasm when i heard the sound of the ps1 logo

  • is that an scph39001 ps2 you have there?

  • when i did this for the first time i went into a wtf mode

  • brings back memories

  • @Crapknight its not like that. the white squares is representing how much data. more data more squares. but one question, why this startup has a "perspective squares"?

  • @alwaysyanwar It's actually represents how many PS1 games and movies you have played on your PS2. I have tested. I have a full memory card but no blocks. They start increasing as long I start playing a movie on my PS2

  • sometimes i have no towers

  • @Remnainsofbattle and @FromtheWordsofBR I still have mine as well, but I dont play it much due to the creepy red screen of death

  • @therunawaybros615 when it did that to me , i never turned it on again

  • @tealeafandco Yeah,I get what you mean. Its hard to forget that little creepy red screen.....

  • *sniff sniff* i remember the first day i got a ps2...good times *sounds of the start up plays in my head* sniff sniff...tear tear...cry...cry...

  • @Remnainsofbattle I'm glad I still have one.

  • @FromtheWordsofBR i still have mine too :3 i was just havin a nostalgia moment

  • PS2's intro sucked compared to PS1's and PS3's is even worse.

  • Oh I remember putting PS1 Game in PS2, and it gives us a PS1 logo without PS logo and the copyright text.

  • It was funny to play the PS1 sound for my little sister. I got, "I REMEMBER THAT! I REMEMBER!"

  • No movie edit guys!! He put a ps1 game in his ps2. When u do that, it brings up the ps1 boot logo and sound to give you a ps1 game feeling! I know because I plat GTA 2 sometimes on my ps2

  • whAT game

  • did anyonethink about it?

if you got a disk on the tray te start screen is long

if you dont got a disk on the tray the start screen is short

  • mine doesn't show up the PsOne startup T-T

  • @ajbr1991 if you use a ps1 memory card, it doesn't show

  • @mrtulala1 I don't have a Ps Memory Card on it. And still doesn't show up that startup. Btw, I have a problem when I play Tomb Raider 3 on ps2, the sound is kinda buggy, laggy and annoying, playable but sound. I have a SCPH-79001 SS.

  • this happans when you put a ps1 disc ina ps2 o.o

  • how does your PS2 sound like that? like it has a different sound than mine while booting a game when sony entertainment comes up,it sounds like your one plays a noise longer.

maybe you have a different version?

  • backwards compatibility is the best thing that the current gen can offer. i love starting up my brother's PS3 (launch model of course), hearing the orchestral warm up noise, loading resident evil 2 and hearing the awe inspiring PSX sounds.

  • playstation 1.9 lol!

  • I never get to see this other screen, though every PS1 game on my PS2 works perfectly.

Why is that and is there a way to make it appear?

  • Why does it take longer than my PS2?Its American version.

  • @wakkyvideogroup No, it depends on your PS2.

  • its the files on ur mem card that effects blocks i just checked on mine, with 2 different memory cards, and yes, the fuller one makes more blocks

  • actually the white squares on the PS2 are present if you have a memory card plugged in with saves on it, the number of blocks depends on the number of saves

  • The blocks are generated by values stored in the Your System Configuration file. The card could be completely emptry except for that small file and retain the blocks. The value adds more blocks the more discs you boot on the console with a memory card plugged in, and increases the height of the blocks the more you use each disc...

  • ...deleting the system configuration file would confirm it by resetting the block count to zero, as well as just deleting or moving the saves on the card except for the system configuration file would still leave the number of blocks intact.

  • @kooliokooliokoolio really? i never really noticed! that's cool

  • @kooliokooliokoolio I agree.

  • (to kevingarcia279) wut about the PS3?

  • your mum

  • took a long time to boot that ps1 game, my fat ps2 boots a ps1 game after like 2 sec after the squares come up.

  • my fat ps2 mostly gets an RSOD

  • mine is actually dead now...well it only plays ps1 games and blue ps2 games..no ps2 dvds or dvd movies...sending to sony sometime next week.

  • My slim was a replacement for a fat DRE, I bought it with a bum laser(slim)cleaned it and it's worked ever since, some people just don't think. Boots everything a ps2 should right away.

  • yeah. Mine is working now. Instead of sending it to sony, i bought one from a friend at my school who never used it. his ps2 case was beat so i didnt want to just use it as is, so i took the laser out, installed it in mine, and it is running very well.

  • I'm surprised they were lazy enough to never clean it, I thought I would have to replace it seeing as I bought a DRE on ebay but that never happened, 30 seconds swirling 99% rubbing alcohol on the lens with a q-tip and bang, ever since, some people just don't think of simple things. The slim one doesn't even need to be opened, how simple can it get. I miss my fatty though, it was my chubby baby lmao.

  • lol i like the fats better

  • Me too man, me too. Like I said, I miss my chubby.

  • u can get a used one at gamestop or ebay lol

  • ps2 ps1 xbox 360 n64 gamecube wii rocks

  • This has nothing to do with current gen consoles, let alone microsoft ones where you have to send in every 6 months(if your lucky)

  • Can you upload a PS3 Opening with PS1 game please?

  • That Ps1 sound was too sick

  • On my PS2, it has 3D rainbow squares. I got the fat one, so probably why.

  • I never understood the squares, or why they changed.. it they relate to something?

  • I think how much memory you have. Idk

  • no just the different versions

  • I think it either grows/decreases depending on how much memory is on your memory card, or it grows/decreases depending on the day of the month.

  • @GullahFan240 Rainbow? I have the fat one, and it NEVER showed "rainbow blocks" but it did show white blocks.

  • that sound is awesome!!

  • I never knew the squares ment data.

Well thats why theres so much on there. My 8 MB is almost full.

  • I love em!

  • how did you put the squares , it has a modchip in it , bios changed ?

  • For me, they have been there ever since I got my PS2...Maybe its just the version?

  • Well , i have

    77004 PAL

    Ps2 Slim

    8MB Mem Card

    Modbo 760

  • the sound relax me and give me the sensation that the console iis pulling me into another universe. The gaming universe!!!

    i love it!!!

  • the sound is so mysterious... and beautiful

  • it's still creepy today, to tell the truth....

  • It is THE best startup sound ever, the ps3 startup is rubbish compared to the ps1 startup

  • i love the playstation one screen and noise, it was creepy as hell when i was younger for some reason

  • lol i love the music tooo! it reminds me of the playstation underground and me playing the game kinsley's adventure.

  • Anyone know what the white squares represent? The startup screen is blank on a new, virgin PS2 (except for the transparent cubes and the blue fog), and as the PS2 gets used the startup screen populates with more and more squares. Been wondering for ages.

  • The white squares represent how much data is in your memory cards. The more data the more squares.

  • @chrismo2001 exatly

  • The squares mean data. The more data on the memory card, the bigger the number of squares. If there are no squares, the memory card is empty, or there is no memory card.

  • hey your right i just tried that, i took out my savecard and booted my ps2 with no game in it and saw only 2 squares then i booted my ps2 with my savecard in and i saw a ton o squares

  • well i baught a new ps2 since my old one broke so, My memory card was full but it didnt show any blocks. i think they mean how much data has been saved since you first played, or saved

  • @Crapknight

The squares represent each seperate game played on a PS2; the memory card logs them on a save called "Your System Configuration".

Delete everything BUT that file on the memory card, and the blocks will be still there despite the MC being basically empty. Conversely, delete ONLY that file and all the blocks will vanish despite the MC being filled.

  • What game were you playing?

  • Ape Escape. I didn't play it, I just put it in to capture the Intro

  • @chrismo2001 Ape Escape was an awesome game, The Crash Bandicoot series and the final fantasy games for the ps1 were better though :P

  • @chrismo2001 i love that game !

  • @chrismo2001 love that game :D

  • @kikiwawank is true that the PS2 Slim shows PS1 logo when you put a CD Playstation, because I use PS1 games on my PS2

  • Great and intresting

  • u do know that ps2 plays ps1 games right...?

  • thats wat he is showin

  • O.. Khei?

  • nice nice

  • cool

  • I love this!!
