@thesega99 It's special because they really didn't need to, it would've been a good episode even without Derpy's famous scene. The sheer fact that the creative team went out of their way to give our mascot the spotlight for a bit (hell, the fact that Hasbro even allowed it) just shows just how awesome they are, and it shows that they truly believe us bronies as being just as relevant to the show as it's primary demographic (hell, it's probably the reason why Vinyl Scratch gets her own toy).

The creators and producers did hear us, they care for their fans, they really do!", such satisfaction, and then when she spoke.... Her voice was exactly what I had imagined all this time. Alot of people theorized that Ditzy = Derpy, but I would sooner believe that purple haired Derpy clone in Winter Wrap-up who brought the birds back was Ditzy Doo, Or that Ditzy Doo just never got an onscreen appearance.

Actually no it wasn't. When Ditzy Doo was first mentioned, it was on an unseen pony. The name predated Derpy's popularity, so at its conception it was not for Derpy.

Later, Lauren Faust CONSIDERED using Derpy's model for Ditzy if they ever re-used her again. Clearly they never used Ditzy again. And just let Derpy keep her fan name.

Certain fans just won't let Ditzy go.

Due to this the fandom decided to name her, due to her derp face, Derpy. Interviews with the developers showed that the team liked the name and adopted it to the character, official flash animations source codes name her "Derpy.swf" and now they just canon the name.
