greetings and salutations from limerick-Ireland great to see the irish martial art of batareacht being kept alive and aloft! much respect to the doyle clan, you have made me a proud Irishman today! ar laimh laider beir bua!!!!
Depends on the person... but they are between 38" - 48" depending on the height of the practitioner. They technically are considered walking sticks. :-)
I have always been interested in the tradition stick fighting of all kinds. It's been something I've always wanted to learn ("Damn you Bruce Lee and you're awesome skillz!!" lol). So far though, you are the first person I have been able to find who actually teaches this kind of stuff to average joe's. And I may actually be able to learn something through your vids! Now I just gotta hunt for a good strong stick in the bush and a friend I can beat the crap out of >8D lol, kidding. Great vids dude!
Family martial traditions are almost always worth a good look. Fathers tend to be invested in making sure their sons "get it." In Mr. Doyle's case I believe it shows. Great trainning, I really like it.
I really like the use of the focus mitts. :). My wife said that Robert looked like Po from Kung fu Panda, lol.

Cheers, great video!
How long are your shellelaghs (if that's not too personal a question)
Are they long enough to be used as/pass as a walking stick?

And where can I find a good stick of 41" length, without the thorns polished off. An Arsonist destroyed mine.
